- One of the favorite painters of Mikhail Vartanov who wrote an authoritative essay on him and was a cinematographer of a documentary Carzou (1984). Jean Carzou was awarded France's National Order of Merit; was elected to the Academie des Beaux-Arts in 1977; was the first French painter whose work appeared on French postal stamp; was member of the jury at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival.
