The soap world is saying goodbye to Jacklyn Zeman, the longtime star of General Hospital who played nurse Bobbie Spencer. The actress died Wednesday at 70 after a short battle with cancer, according to reports.
Zeman’s passing was announced Wednesday evening on Twitter by Frank Valentini, the daytime drama’s executive producer. Zeman first joined the ABC sudser in 1977 and appeared in more than 800 episodes. She was a five-time Daytime Emmy nominee — four for Gh and one for starring in The Bay as Sofia Madison.
Current and former soap stars like Greg Vaughan, John Stamos, Rick Springfield and Eden McCoy paid tribute to their former colleague on social media, calling her a sweet soul “who never ceased to make us smile.”
Zeman’s daughters also posted a remembrance on their mother’s Twitter account today:

Indie Series Award winner Arianne Zucker is front and center in the second season of Ladies of the Lake, now streaming on Amazon, and the digital drama is more enthralling than ever.
Jessica Morris and Marie Wilson return as Crystal Amhurst and Morgan Firestone, the remaining Ladies of the Lake who are facing the consequences of getting away with murder. Both characters are more relatable in the new episodes. Zucker's Lisa Roth (Clara in Season 1) has infiltrated the group and is now living with Crystal. Her outstanding performance turns the hellbent on revenge guest-starring role into a strong but sympathetic leading lady. Joining the fun are General Hospital's Kathleen Gati as Crystal's mother, Margaret Cranston; Gh's Marc Anthony Samuel as Clara's husband, Teddy DuPree; and Days of our Lives' Robert Scott Wilson as Clara's step-brother, Ethan Wyatt. Gati brings the comedy, while Samuel and Wilson add the sexy and intensity to the mix.

Revenge films are one of the gold standard sub-genres in horror, especially ones with female protagonist committing all manner of gruesome violence against the people, usually men, which have assaulted her. Director Michael S. Ojeda crafts his version a little different this time with a supernatural twist that involves the possession of a deaf, and left for dead, woman by the spirit of a Native American warrior who is seeking revenge. Ojeda doesn’t try to reinvent the genre, but instead makes a vicious and inventive film that is a recent standout in the over-saturated category.
Zoe (Amanda Adrienne) is on a road trip across the desert, making her way to an eager boyfriend, when she witnesses a young Native American man running for his life from a gang of men chasing him in a truck. Zoe intervenes, trying to get the young man into her car, but is halted...

Doug Spearman, writer/director of Hot Guys With Guns
With a title like Hot Guys With Guns, the gay action comedy has been getting attention on the film festival circuit and for good reason. Taking elements of film noir, buddy comedies and a dash of gay romance, writer/director Doug Spearman has crafted a layered story that follows two exes, Danny (Marc Anthony Samuel) and Pip (Brian McArdle) as they try to solve a West Hollywood crime ring. Of course, the two men are also trying to solve the matter of their hearts as lingering feelings from their past relationship are just as paramount as the clues they’re searching for to solve the crime.
The film, which also deftly sends up Hollywood, gay culture and race, screens at the 31st Annual Outfest Lgbt Film Festival in Los Angeles this Friday, and brings a full circled-ness to the project since...

Life of the Sex Party: Spearman’s Debut Features Intriguing but Diluted Premise
The multifaceted Doug Spearman, who many are familiar with as a main player in Logo’s groundbreaking series “Noah’s Arc,” unveils his feature film debut, Hot Guys With Guns, which tries to be a sassy neo-noir dark comedy riffing on dynamics from a multitude of iconic cinematic elements. Those hoping for a breezy comedy will be sorely disappointed with a surprising amount of sinister elements that are declawed by the film’s attempt to be too many things at one time. That’s not to say there aren’t some redeeming elements of discussion highlighted in Spearman’s scenario, which is initially a daring expose of a seedier, often undisclosed side of a community that often engages in contradictory depictions of transparency and provocation. The base premise has all the fixings of a capitalistically mutated cousin to Cruising,...

General Hospital quietly introduced Felix Dubois, an out nursing student played by Marc Anthony Samuel this week. He's a contract player, so he will be back, but his initial reviews are mixed. His first showing had him going in for a makeover of another character, which has some screaming "stereotype" and others saying that there are enough gay characters on television now to embrace all types. Personally, I think we should get to know him before we make any decisions.
Time has run a feature story on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, with some amazing words from his gay brother, Michael. It seems in high school, Roger dedicated a lot of his time to defending his brother from bullies, including beating up kids who picked on him. And that carried over into college as well, when he visited a bar where Michael worked. “'There were these two twins, they were body-builder twins,...

I wondered how long it would take for it to be revealed that Aidan had broken hospital rules by secretly performing Andrew’s blood tests. This was this past week it finally happened. And, while it’s an interesting story, I’m not happy about how it played out.
First of all, since Georgia clearly had no intention of not turning Aidan in, or at least gave it very little thought before she did. She could have at least warned Aidan that the hammer was about to fall so he wasn’t blindsided. I suppose she did the right thing because he did violate hospital policy, but as far as I’m concerned, Georgia can save the half-hearted apologies. She’s not stupid and she had to know what would happen as a result of her blabbing. Just own up to what you did and shut up.
