House of the Dragon’s second season is getting closer to its release date on Max, and the never-ending details about the upcoming installment give us all an even scarier feeling of anticipation than ever before.
The show’s season 2 will finally bring the viewers a long-awaited fight for the ultimate power between the Blacks and the Greens, and, given House of the Dragon’s showrunner’s latest revelations, the full-scale war will get to the level that only Game of Thrones and some Marvel flicks could reach so far.
Despite recent heavy criticism regarding its creative decisions, the MCU is still like nobody else when it comes to turning on-screen big battles into something extremely realistic. With no connection to Marvel whatsoever, Game of Thrones was also a decent game player when it was time to blow everyone away with epic fight scenes, and now it seems like the...

At the beginning of House of the Dragon season 1, we saw King Jaehaerys make a brief appearance. The frail old king was in the last days of his life and had to choose his successor. His own kids may have passed away, but Jaehaerys had the choice between his three grandchildren – Viserys, Daemon, and Rhaenys.
Fans are speculating that King Jaehaerys will make an appearance in the second season of House of the Dragon. This is because the actor who plays King Jaehaerys, Michael Carter has season 2 listed on IMDb. The character may appear in the flashback scene when Viserys learns about the prophecy that is meant to be passed down from one king to another.

House of the Dragon season 2 is less than a month away from hitting Max, and that’s about all we can talk about right now.
The show promised to be back with an epic fight after the jaw-dropping season 1 ending, but all the fuss around the Game of Thrones prequel’s comeback is spurred not only by George R.R. Martin’s book series lovers (who already know how drastically things will turn in the next installment), but especially by the show’s proper actors.
Though House of the Dragon’s cast is surely prohibited to spill the beans on everything that’s about to happen in there, one of the show’s actresses has just dropped a major spoiler, and, unsurprisingly, it has a lot to do with Game of Thrones.

Some actors feel like they were meant to play a specific role and bring the surrounding energy to life on screen. Ewan Mitchell is one of those actors as there could be no better actor to play Aemond Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Hence, he brings a certain sinister energy to the role that makes him stand out from the rest.
Heading into the second season of the HBO prequel, fans will see Aemond play a larger role in defending the Green faction. After the events of the season 1 finale, Aemond might be the one to blame for the civil war. However, he also seems to be the one to handle everything to defend his family.

The 49th season finale of “Saturday Night Live” opened with James Austin Johnson as Donald Trump speaking at the barricades of a Manhattan courthouse, in a nod to Trump’s ongoing legal woes amid his presidential campaign.
During the sketch, Johnson as Trump spoke about his “weird and depressing” state at the courthouse, saying, “I don’t like being in court because they say very mean things about me as I’m trying to sleep.” (It was reported that Trump fell asleep in court during proceedings.) He goes on to say, “Now that my defense is supposed to begin on Monday, I would love to testify; I’m not afraid to testify at all, I’m just not going to out of fear.”
He continues to say how he doesn’t want to go back to the White House, “But it appears people want to send me there.” Johnson’s...

The history of the Targaryens is as convoluted and twisted as it comes. There is good reason to fear this fabled family—they are notorious for their incest, internal strife, and constant backstabbing. The Blacks and Greens, who formed the once powerful House of the Dragon, split apart and are taking up positions on opposing sides of the battleground. And Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra, leading the Blacks, will be seen in a completely different form.
Rhaenyra’s sense of betrayal in House of the Dragon Season 2
After witnessing a series of deaths and betrayals, Rhaenyra is in a deep state of mourning. D’Arcy, in a recent interview with the Es magazine, states, “Those who’ve watched the first series will know that we left Rhaenyra having just received the news of her son’s murder. We pick up in series two about two weeks later, so that loss remains very raw.

In the first season of House of the Dragon, we were shown many representatives of the main houses of the Seven Kingdoms: in addition to the Targaryens, we saw the Hightowers, Velaryons, and Lannisters.
However, the family that played a key role in Game of Thrones was unrepresented in the first season of House of the Dragon. Did the silent and stern Northern Starks really not participate in the events that were about to bring blood to the Seven Kingdoms?
Of course they did, and even played an important role, while managing to be true men of honor, which is extremely difficult in the conditions of war.
The hero of these events was the young, but already experienced Cregan Stark, who will appear in the second season. Cregan, played by Tom Taylor, can be seen in the Black trailer standing shoulder to shoulder with Jacaerys.

If we had a nickel for every time a trailer for the second season of a big budget fantasy series based on an iconic book series released on a Tuesday in mid-May, we’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right? Yes folks, within mere hours of the first teaser for The Rings Of Power Season 2 dropping yesterday, HBO fired back with its own fancy new trailer for House Of The Dragon’s second season. And sure enough, there be dragons. Check it out below:
As you may recall, Season 1’s breathless finale saw Aemond Targaryen’s (Ewan Mitchell) dragon Vhagar brutally kill his half-sister Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault). Families, eh? Unsurprisingly, Rhaenyra’s none-too-happy about Aemond’s heinous deed, and in this new trailer things are hotting up...

House of the Dragon season 1 introduced us to House Velaryon, an old Valyrian House whose members are master seafarers. The seat of House Velaryon is on Driftmark, with the head of the House holding the title “Lord of the Tides.”
In season 1, the Sea Snake, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), held this title. Though the title was to pass to his son Ser Laenor, we witnessed the Velaryon lord fleeing the land of Westeros. This left Corlys without an heir.
However, we will see events from George R.R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood come to life in House of the Dragon Season 2. The show will introduce two new characters from the town of Hull on Driftmark.
The first, Addam of Hull, will fight for the Blacks as a dragonrider. His brother Alyn Velaryon, also called Alyn Oakenfist and Alyn of Hull, however, has a different destiny. The latest House of...

House of the Dragon’s grand battle between the Blacks and the Greens is a month away from finally arriving on the screens and the whole tension may grow dramatically due to an unexpected shift among the teams’ members.
Though Season 1 showed quite a solid image of both sides’ allies, things can take a more serious turn should Game of Thrones’ prequel decide to follow its original source.
So far House of the Dragon didn’t stick too much to George R.R. Martin’s book series and there can be a reason for it. The show’s upcoming sequel will let the fight for the ultimate power finally unfold with both sides getting protection and support from allies.
As the most rightful heir to the throne, Rhaenyra Targaryen is backed by the House of Velaryon with lord Corlys Velaryon in its head, but the latter’s beliefs can be very flexible once his priorities change.

Apple TV+’s highly anticipated adaptation of Laura Lippman’s mystery novel “Lady in the Lake” — starring Natalie Portman — will premiere with the first two episodes on July 19, the streamer announced Wednesday.
The seven-part limited series follows a bored Jewish housewife (Portman) in the 1960s, who divorces her husband and moves to Baltimore to work as an investigative journalist. She soon becomes fixated on the perplexing death of Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram), a mother who struggled to provide for her family while navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore.
The book was brought to famed director Alma Har’el by the late Jean-Marc Vallée and his producing partner, Nathan Ross; she jumped at the chance to adapt the complex novel, which has made headlines since its straight-to-series pickup three years ago.
In 2022, Variety broke the news that Lupita Nyong’o, who was initially cast as Cleo, had exited the show. Ingram stepped in shortly after,...

Since childhood, Kamau Coleman found solace in spending his free days and weekends at a family friend’s duplex apartment near the Venice Beach strip. While the property had been around since 1964, it had never been upgraded outside of basic maintenance.
“You can imagine we were at the ocean, so everything rusted,” Coleman tells The Hollywood Reporter. “For example, the stairs, the legs went directly into the sand and there was literally nothing holding it.”
Around the early stages of the pandemic lockdown, the building’s previous owner decided to retire, paying the tenants to vacate the property and also giving Coleman and his business partners an opportunity to get involved — hence The Redline Venice Hotel was born.
The building stands out as the only Black-owned apartment hotel on the strip, offering both short-term stays and reservations of a month or more. The name “Redline” carries a dual meaning. It symbolizes racial discrimination in housing,...

It seems like House of the Dragon is also all set to go on a similar path as its predecessor series and we might be witnessing a lot of unexpected deaths in the second season of the series.

Combining George R.R. Martin’s expansive imagination with Warner Bros. Discovery’s equally expansive marketing budget has turned out to be one of pop culture’s great cheat codes.
HBO has announced the official release date for House of the Dragon season 2 and it’s done so in particularly grand fashion. That’s because the announcement was accompanied not just by one trailer but by two. In honor of the show’s plot about the Dance of the Dragons civil war fought between two Targaryen factions, HBO is inviting viewers to choose the trailer experience that most closely corresponds to their “side.”
First up is the “Green Trailer” for those who are inclined to support Aegon II’s (Tom Glynn-Carney) claim to the Iron Throne.
Then there is the “Black Trailer” for supporters of Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) on Dragonstone, Viserys I’s eldest daughter and the would-be first female monarch of the Seven Kingdoms.

A vengeful war begins in HBO‘s House of the Dragon Season 2 trailer, and the series is making viewers pick a side between the Blacks (House Targaryen) and the Greens (House Hightower). There are two dueling trailers, one for each house that favors their sides’ perspectives in this familial war. The trailers reveal the official House of the Dragon Season 2 release date: Sunday, June 16. Premiering this June, House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. The series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen, now led by Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) following the slow death of her father, King Viserys (Paddy Considine), at the end of Season 1. There were “errors made in the hours following King Viserys’ death,” the first teaser ominously stated. Gab, the far-right social media network, is launching a “based” alternative to mainstream artificial intelligence tools. While only one of the company’s chatbots has been named after Adolf Hitler, the company’s “uncensored” AI will gladly help users make a plot for global Aryan domination.

Elvis Presley is most known for his rock and pop hits, but he also recorded some classic gospel songs. A major pop singer performed backup on one of Elvis’ gospel tracks. She also discussed attending religious services with the “Heartbreak Hotel” singer.
The most famous member of a girl group sang backup on 1 of Elvis Presley’s gospel songs
Darlene Love was a member of the girl group The Blossoms. She might be most known today for her solo hit “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” which was produced and co-written by the legendary producer Phil Spector. During a 2018 interview with The Village Voice, Love was asked to name some of the gospel songs she recorded with Elvis.
“There is ‘Let Us Pray,’ the one from the movie we did with Elvis, Change of Habit,” she recalled. “That was his last film.” In fact, Change of Habit was Elvis’ final film as an actor,...

The House of the Dragon Season 2 trailer has left everyone waiting eagerly for what’s to come, and before it’s here, let’s brush your knowledge on it in connection to Game of Thrones. Firstly, the series is set over 150 years before Game of Thrones took place. Therefore, the characters from Got might not appear in this spin-off, but the houses in Got are also present in the Hotd. The show’s primary focus is the Targaryens and their downfall, but other Houses have appeared in the first season, and more will be seen in the upcoming one. From Lannisters to Baratheons and Starks, here’s a quick guide.
The first season of the HBO series was just a tease and had set the stage for the Dance of the Dragons to begin.

This article contains spoilers for the book Fire & Blood and therefore likely spoilers for House of the Dragon season 2.
The long wait for footage from House of the Dragon season 2 has been dark and full of terrors. But that all came to an end when HBO finally released the first official House of the Dragon season 2 trailer following the show’s appearance at CCXP23 in São Paulo, Brazil. Give it a watch below.
Typically, teasers released for TV shows that do not have release dates yet (which House of the Dragon season 2 still does not … just a “Summer 2024” window) are not particularly revealing. But HBO’s wildly successful Game of Thrones prequel isn’t just any typical show without a release date. To the untrained eye, there might not be a lot of plot to latch onto in this 90 seconds. Thankfully, here aren’t too many untrained eyes when it...

HBO’s House of the Dragon season two teaser trailer opens with Otto Hightower admitting errors were made immediately following King Viserys’ death. The kingdom’s being torn apart by conflict between those who support the Greens and those who stand with the Blacks. And Alicent Hightower warns, “The war will be fought, many will die, and the victor will eventually ascend the throne.”
“There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war so bloody as a war between dragons,” says Rhaenys Targaryen. That pronouncement is followed by scenes of battle, and fighting between the mythological beasts.
HBO’s first look at the much-anticipated second season was accompanied by photos, two posters, and the announcement of new cast members Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark,...

Exclusive: Emmy winner Julianna Margulies says she is “horrified” by the reaction to a series of statements she had made about Black and LGBTQ Americans, largely college students.
“I am horrified by the fact that statements I made on a recent podcast offended the Black and Lgbtqia+ communities, communities I truly love and respect,” Margulies said in an exclusive statement to Deadline. “I want to be 100% clear: Racism, homophobia, sexism, or any prejudice against anyone’s personal beliefs or identity are abhorrent to me, full stop. Throughout my career I have worked tirelessly to combat hate of all kind, end antisemitism, speak out against terrorist groups like Hamas, and forge a united front against discrimination. I did not intend for my words to sow further division, for which I am sincerely apologetic.”
Margulies, who is Jewish, made the controversial comments on The Back Room with Andy Ostroy podcast where she railed against support for Palestine.

Julianna Margulies has called out the Black and LGBTQ communities’ lack of support for Israel in its fight against Hamas, and suggested that people backing Palestine were “brainwashed.”
Appearing on the Nov. 21 episode of The Back Room With Andy Ostroy podcast, Margulies briefly spoke about her role on The Morning Show, before the topic of the Israel-Hamas conflict took over. The actress began by saying she believed that the current rise of antisemitism in the U.S. was boosted by Donald Trump legitimizing the neo-Nazi protestors in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017.
After Israel was attacked by Hamas on Oct. 7, Margulies expressed her sadness that Black and LGBTQ people were, in her estimation, not supporting Israel when it retaliated, especially as she believed Jews had supported Black people, and other minorities, in their struggles. “I’m the first person to march [for] Black Lives Matter. After the catastrophic fan reaction to the final season of HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones," the spin-off prequel "House of the Dragon" didn't exactly seem like a sure thing. But somehow, through the magic of great casting, a stellar story, and a whole bunch of dragons, the folks at HBO managed to get people obsessed with the world of Westeros once more, making "House of the Dragon" a bonafide hit.
"House of the Dragon" follows the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war between factions of the ruling Targaryen family that divides not just the clan but threatens to throw the entirety of the Seven Kingdoms into a bitter and bloody war. The two factions, the Blacks and the Greens, each follow the person that they believe should have succeeded King Viserys I to the throne. The Blacks are led by his daughter with his first wife, the indomitable...

Though he certainly didn’t invent the genre, Elvis Presley became widely known as the King of Rock’ n’ Roll. Little Richard tried to reclaim that title during the 1970s with an album called King of Rock and Roll. Sadly, it didn’t work out well for him. Little Richard discussed why the album performed so poorly.
Little Richard tried to reclaim ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ from Elvis Presley with a covers album
There’s no broad agreement as to who invented rock ‘n’ roll. Some of the artists named as the genre’s progenitor include Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry, and Little Richard. The latter released an album called King of Rock and Roll in 1971, well after that title had been applied to Elvis. The album largely featured covers of songs by other stars such as Martha and the Vandellas, Three Dog Night, and The Rolling Stones.

Exclusive: Filmmaker Cord Jefferson has, in recent years, made two life-changing decisions.
In 2008, he donated a kidney to his father.
“That was easy,” he said.
“That was one of the easiest decisions I ever made. I mean, he gave me life. I feel like the kidney’s half his,” the 41-year-old declared.
A few years later, Jefferson read novelist Percival Everett’s book Erasure.
Then he adapted it for the big screen and called it American Fiction. The project became his feature film directorial debut.
The searingly provocative movie had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and has emerged as one of the best films of the year, joining the handful of movies that have so far galvanized the fall festivals at Venice, Telluride and Toronto.

Speaking at the latest Visionaries event as part of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Industry Conference, Ly said the absence of desire for change is holding France back.
“As long as you have no political willpower to change things then they won’t change,” said the filmmaker.

French filmmaker Ladj Ly has returned to his home turf of Paris with Les Indésirables, a searing portrait of police violence and political injustice in angry suburbs that has a world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this week.
On Saturday, Ly told a TIFF panel that little has changed for the better for the marginalized communities depicted in his follow-up to Les Misérables, which earned the Jury Prize in Cannes. “There’s absolutely no political volition to make anything better,” Ly said during an informal conversation with The Hollywood Reporter‘s Scott Roxborough, which was presented as part of the Visionaries series.
“The problems that touched the suburbs have now extended to the rest of France,” Ly added, as he pointed to the police crackdown of Yellow Vests protests countrywide against economic injustice, which included grassroots protests earlier this year against pension reforms.

At a film festival with plenty of big picture movies about race (Roger Ross Williams’ “Stamped From the Beginning” and Ava DuVernay’s “Origin” among them), Raoul Peck’s “Silver Dollar Road” is a specific and damning case study of one place, one family and one monumental case of injustice.
Peck, director of the Oscar-nominated James Baldwin doc “I Am Not Your Negro,” is attuned to exploring larger issues through the reverberations of a single incident, in this case the eight-year jail terms served by two Black men for remaining on the land that had been taken from them in North Carolina.
The film, which premiered on Friday at the Toronto International Film Festival, would be baffling, except that cases of racial injustice can and have been both inexplicable and predictable. It’s infuriating, to be sure, but Peck makes sure that the takeaway is not so much talking points...

While production on many shows has ground to a halt, House of the Dragon Season 2 is soldiering on.
The hit Game of Thrones prequel is expected to meet its summer 2024 return window, despite the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
As previously reported, those associated with the show are working under different contracts because the show doesn't film in the U.S.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series director Clare Kilner opened up about the decision to nix two episodes from the series order.
News broke earlier this year that we would get eight new episodes instead of the planned ten-part season.
Kilner says that House of the Dragon Season 2 has "eight wonderful episodes with so much happening in every episode, and we have trouble, at times, bringing them down to one hour."
It's unclear whether that means we'll be getting longer episodes at this stage, but it remains a possibility.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid took on two of Donald Trump’s most faithful scions Thursday in a segment for “The ReidOut,” saying threatening letters that Stephen Miller and J.D. Vance wrote to universities reflect an emboldened approach after the Supreme Court’s ruling that effectively struck down affirmative action in colleges.
Reid, in a conversation with activist and former president/director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund Sherrilyn Ifill, drew a line connecting the language of the Supreme Court’s majority decision and the talking points of the late conservative radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.
Reid then pointed to what she called a direct outcome — letters that Miller, Trump’s former senior White House adviser, and Vance, the U.S. senator from Ohio who was endorsed by Trump, sent to law schools and top universities threatening them with repercussions if they attempted to subvert the ruling.

With hip-hop's 50th anniversary soon approaching and the ongoing social media debate on whether or not Latines - including Black Latines - played an important part in the genre's creation, Amazon Music recently released "Hip-Hop X Siempre," a documentary celebrating the Latines who were a foundational part of hip-hop. Produced by veteran director-producer duo Jessy and Ulysses Terrero, the doc features interviews with legendary artists like Fat Joe, N.O.R.E., and Residente, along with rising artists like Villano Antillano, Eladio Carrión, Myke Towers, Alemán, and Snow Tha Product. It's a definitive history of how Latines have contributed to the genre's music and culture in the last 50 years.
"Hip-hop is a natural resource in the United States," Fat Joe says in the first few seconds of the documentary. The legendary rapper is referring to how equitable and valuable hip-hop has become since its conception.

It’s not that we Latin people are silent, it’s that we are muted mostly because there are not enough Latinx journalists to amplify what is happening in our communities. Look at New York City. We are equal to whites in population but you barely see any Latino names on mastheads or the bylines of stories. And it’s not just The New York Times — it’s also Saturday Night Live, the New York Post, The New Yorker, New York Magazine. It’s our city and we are invisible.

“Justice,” the final episode in Hulu’s “The 1619 Project” docuseries, argues that the federal government owes 14 trillion to the descendants of enslaved Black people.
Nikole Hannah-Jones, the creator of the series, calculates the federal government owes the 4 million Black Americans whose ancestors were enslaved 350,000. She argues these reparations — made in the form of land and money — are a way to address the unequal wealth distribution, redlining and other institutional practices that harmed Blacks for decades. And she has the statistics to back it up.
“When I constructed the essay, it was a benefit having every possible objection to reparations and every possible excuse as to why we can’t do it or we shouldn’t do it.
