A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms has found one of its directors.
Owen Harris, who has directed episodes of Black Mirror including the San Junipero episode, will helm three of the episodes for the Game of Thrones spinoff.
It comes as HBO revealed that the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s The Hedge Knight novella will feature six episodes. This is fewer than the first seasons of Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.
A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Some breaking news from Westeros: The Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has added a major talent from Black Mirror to serve as its debut season’s lead director, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Owen Harris has boarded the HBO drama as an executive producer and will also direct the first three episodes, establishing the directorial vision for the series. Harris is best known for helming two of Black Mirror‘s finest episodes — “Be Right Back” and the widely acclaimed “San Junipero.”
In addition, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ episode count has now been revealed: The first season will be six episodes, making for a tighter opener than the 10-episode first seasons of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The run time seems appropriate given Knight is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s 160-page novella The Hedge Knight rather than one of his 900-page epic novels.

“House of the Dragon” is asking viewers to pick a side in Season 2: Rhaenyra’s black faction or Alicent’s green team?
HBO dropped two unique trailers Thursday for Season 2, which premieres on June 16. One trailer focuses on Rhaenrya, Prince Daemon and their forces on Dragonstone, and the other is centered on the King’s Landing team of Alicent, her father Otto and her children King Aegon and Prince Aemond. Taking place 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” will officially mark the start of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.
In the wake of the Season 1 finale, in which Aemond murders Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys and his dragon, war is imminent in Westeros. The blacks and the greens are both gathering their forces, dragons and new allies to face off in a bloody, fiery battle to the death.

HBO’s Game of Thrones universe is expanding once again. Following the success of ‘House of the Dragon,’ a new spinoff titled ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ is gearing up to start filming in 2024. This news comes straight from HBO’s Casey Bloys. While it was initially expected to begin production earlier, the team is still working on casting and writing.
The new series dives into George R. R. Martin’s ‘Tales of Dunk and Egg‘, set about a century before the events of Game of Thrones. It will explore the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg. The show plans to adapt the three novellas: ‘The Hedge Knight’, ‘The Sworn Sword’, and ‘The Mystery Knight’. HBO’s Francesca Orsi mentioned that the show’s lack of dragons means quicker production, thanks to fewer visual effects.

HBO’s House of the Dragon season two teaser trailer opens with Otto Hightower admitting errors were made immediately following King Viserys’ death. “Game of Thrones” prequel series “A King of the Seven Kingdoms,” based on George R.R. Martin’s “Dunk and Egg” books, plans to begin production in spring 2024 pending a resolution to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The series, which will be set a century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” will center on Ser Duncan the Tall and his companion Egg. In April, the network announced the prequel had been ordered to series, at the same event that Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled new streaming service Max.
With the new prequel continuing the several TV adaptations of George R.R. Martin’s beloved series, including “House of the Dragon,” HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys noted the network is “always working” on various “Game of Thrones” scripts and ideas.
“We always have ‘Game of Thrones’ scripts in development,” Bloys said when asked about additional spin-offs during a HBO and Max content slate event on Thursday.

House of the Dragon is officially returning to HBO next summer.
The second season of the Game of Thrones spinoff will air in early summer 2024, as long eyed by the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned network.
The news was confirmed by Casey Bloys at an HBO event in New York this morning, where members of the press saw the first trailer for the second season.
The show, which has finished filming and is currently in post-production, was largely able to continue filming during the summer as it has a largely British cast under Equity contracts rather than SAG-AFTRA ones.
Elsewhere, Bloys said that the hope is for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, its latest GoT prequel to start shooting in the spring.

AMC is heading into more Dark Winds.
The cable network has renewed the crime drama for a third season, coming a couple of weeks after season two finished its run.
The series is planned to premiere in early 2025, a noticeable shift from the summer premiere of its first two seasons, but understandable given the writers and actors strike.
It comes after Dark Winds made its debut on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max service as part of a two-month pop-up.
Dark Winds stars Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon and Jessica Matten.
The first season of the series, which is produced by AMC Studios, drew 2.2M viewers on AMC for its June 2022 launch in Live+3 ratings. The company said that the second season averaged 1.7M viewers each week in Live+3, per Nielsen and saw “significant” viewership and acquisition gains from season one on AMC+.

George R.R. Martin is expressing his full support for the Writers Guild and the ongoing strike. In a blog post, the Game of Thrones co-creator revealed the “The writers room on GoT spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Night has closed for the duration.”
Beginning his blog post with “The strike is on,” Martin went on to relay his thoughts on the work stoppage. “No one wanted this — no writer with an ounce of sense, anyway — but the producers and the studios and the networks and the streamers gave us no choice,” he wrote. “The Guild negotiated right up to the final deadline on May 1, but it takes two to tango. In the waning hours of May 1, the Writers Guild of America declared a strike. The action began on May 2. There are pickets in front of every studio lot and sound stage in LA, and many in other cities as well.

HBO formally announced a new “Game of Thrones” spin-off series last week as part of the unveiling of the new streaming service Max, and while the new show adapts one of George R.R. Martin’s most beloved Westeros stories, its title leaves out the names of the two main characters. As it turns out, there’s a good reason for that.
The working title for the new show is “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” but it’s based on a collection of tales known as “Dunk & Egg.” Writing on his blog, Martin explained why “Dunk & Egg” was not seriously considered as a title for the new show.
“The working title will be ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.’ Whether that will be the final title, I can’t say for sure… beyond saying that no, it won’t be called ‘Tales of Dunk & Egg...

George Rr Martin has revealed fresh details about his newly announced Game of Thrones prequel series.
The American author, who is behind the fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire, which was turned into the hit HBO series about feuding noble families, wrote in a blog post that the new adaptation will be based on his novella The Hedge Knight.
The book is about the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, in a period where the Iron Throne is still under Targaryen rule before the events of the original series.
Egg, brother of Aemon Targaryen who became a Maester to the Night’s Watch at Castle Black and appeared in Game of Thrones, would later grow up to become Aegon V.
He is also the grandfather of Aerys II, often referred to as the “Mad King”, who was the ruler of Westeros before King Robert Baratheon.
