“Ted Lasso,” “Yellowjackets,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and Renee Rapp were just a few of the winners from the 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards, held Thursday night at the Beverly Hilton.
It’s the first of two dual ceremonies — the second happens May 11 in New York City — but we’ll go out on a limb and say it’s the best one because it’s first, and in Los Angeles (just kidding). And prior to the awards actually being handed out, the stars were out in force with some absolutely iconic looks for the Red Carpet.
Among them were Sydney Sweeney, Wayne Brady, Chlöe, Jason Sudeikis, Niecy Nash, and that’s barely a sample. Read on and see some of the best outfits and fiercest attitudes from the GLAAD Media Awards 2024.

“The music video episodes are our main episode where we showcase the best queens from that season,” says production designer Gianna Costa. After winning an Emmy last year for Season 14’s music video episode “Catwalk”, Costa is nominated again this year for “Blame it on the Edit”, which is ideal for someone who grew up watching music videos on MTV. “My favorite part of the music video episodes is getting to look back at all these music videos I love.”
“Blame it on the Edit” features the final four drag queens of Season 15—Sasha Colby, Anetra, Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Luxx Noir London—performing a remix of RuPaul’s titular song. Each queen performs their own verse on the set of a spaceship. “It was very different from the rest of the season, but it was still in the Drag Race world.”

Each season on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” there’s a big song and dance group number that showcases the queens performance abilities. Dubbed the “rusical” — an amalgamation of RuPaul and musical — it’s the chance for each of the competitors to show off their acting, dancing and lip-syncing skills.
For the competition series’ milestone Season 15, the rusical was “Wigloose,” inspired by the 1984 Kevin Bacon classic “Footloose.” The number starred the top six queens: Anetra, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Salina EsTitties and Sasha Colby. “Wigloose” is set in the fictional small town of West Bumtuck, where a local teacher (Brooks) seeks to outlaw drag. The local youth protest the law by holding a secret drag ball. In the end, the teacher is reminded by her old friend (Anetra) and husband (Colby) about the power of drag, and the law is overturned.

Drag has been under attack in various parts of the United States, with laws aiming to restrict public performance popping up in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Kentucky, among many others. Some of these laws have been tied up in state court systems over their constitutionality, but they’ve regardless had a chilling effect on venues and events that were once drag friendly, either out of fear of legal consequences or the threat of violence. We spoke with several performers living and working in those embattled states to find out what...

With 15 seasons under its belt, RuPaul’s Drag Race doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.
“We’ll be doing these interviews when it’s RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 72,” joked Season 15 queen Mistress Isabelle Brooks, who was joined on Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted panel by queens Anetra, Sasha Colby and Luxx Noir London.
Season 15 was the biggest yet, literally, boasting the largest cast in the series’ history. The 16 queens competed for $200,000, its biggest cash prize even. It was also the first season to feature biological relatives, twins Sugar and Spice. Season 15 also was the highest-rated season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in three years, after the series moved from VH1 to MTV.
So what is the key to this longevity?
“I feel like Drag Race really just has everything you’re kind of looking for in reality television,” said London. “You have really pretty people. You have really dynamic personalities.

Whether you’re crowned America’s next drag superstar or not, going on RuPaul’s Drag Race is a transformative experience. TV Insider caught up with the final four of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 just before they learned who would win the season. They shared how going on the show changed their lives, both in drag and out. “I don’t think my drag has evolved. I think my outlook on certain things has definitely changed,” Mistress Isabelle Brooks told TV Insider at the April 14 finale screening at New York City’s Hard Rock Hotel. “Going on Drag Race has taught me that drag is supposed to be fun. Before I was on Drag Race, I was in a very different place than most queens because I’ve always done drag full-time. It’s always been my career. I think that when something’s your job, it’s work when you do it.

We've made it, Drag Race fans! The crown has been snatched, the confetti has fallen, and our jaws have dropped.
America has found its next drag superstar on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 16.
This was a tight race to the finish, possibly one of the tightest in Drag Race herstory. But there was no doubt that your favorite drag queen's favorite drag queen wasn't claiming another big win and leaving her mark in herstory.
The crowning episode is typically a night of celebration. Everything from the lip-syncs to the interviews to the cheesy segments is about making it a glitzy night to celebrate drag.
"Grand Finale" was no exception!
And I'd be remiss not to talk about how empowering the grand finale was for drag queens and the 2Slgbtq+ community as a whole.
It's been a tough year for drag queens, especially due to all the hurtful debates and discriminatory legislation targeting them.

The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 15 finale just aired, with the four finalists — Anetra, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Sasha Colby — vying for the crown, $200,000 dollars, and the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar.
Here are 5 moments you didn’t see:
Trippy Start Irene Dubois (Photo credit: Getty Images)
Irene Dubois was the first queen eliminated on the show and the first to take the stage at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel on finale night. What you didn’t see is that Irene tripped slightly as she was coming out. We don’t blame her, as her lunar moth costume was one of the most intricate of the night.
Irene recovered beautifully and when she reached the front of the stage, the statuesque queen released paper moths that flew into the audience. Take that, Asia O’Hara!

Tea was spilled. Dirt was dished. And some queens got some long-awaited grievances off their chests.
The reunion gave us a 2-hour montage of unfiltered fun and edited segments on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 15.
Even if the competition comes first, the reunion always finds a way to give us the needed drama. This special is welcomed and a must-have for every year!
A good reunion needs a few key things: the queens being together in person, an openness to spill all the tea, and some drama in and out of the competition.
"Reunited" checked many of the boxes we'd come to expect; the reunion was a good time that mainly stayed upbeat. Though, for a 2-hour show, it felt like many of the queens were silent or were staying in their "Congenial Era."
Like why did a good number of queens not talk as much?

By the end of episode 14 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 on March 31, RuPaul Charles and judges Michelle Visage and Ross Mathews made the decision of which queens would advance to the April 14 “Grand Finale.” Based on their performances in the “Blame It on the Edit” music video challenge, Sasha Colby earned her fourth challenge win and Luxx Noir London was “safe,” both earning automatic spots in the finale. As someone who is obsessed with both the worlds of musical theatre and the art form of drag, it goes without saying that the musical episodes of Ru Paul’s Drag Race are always something I eagerly anticipate every season! This season’s musical challenge had the queens performing in the original production “Wig Loose” where the art form of drag was banned. Not only was this a clever interpretation of Footloose (where dancing is banned) but it also came at the perfect time as Tennessee have recently passed a bill that criminalises drag. I think for us in the UK, it is so easy for us to forget how political the art form of drag can be, so seeing a TV show tackle this devastating and real-world legislation is so powerful! Not only was this challenge cleverly political but the producers behind the episode pulled out all the stops...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on March 24 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, the queens sang and dance on stage in the showstopping new rusical “Wigloose!” While the judges were pleased with everyone’s performances, the two that fell to the bottom of the pack were Salina EsTitties and Loosey Laduca. A fourth trip to the Lip Sync for Your Life was the end of the road for Salina while Loosey survived to shantay another day.

Get your brushes ready, and your wigs snatched. It's time for a makeover!
The lovable makeover Maxi Challenge returned on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 13 to dish out fabulous looks for some unsung heroes: the teachers.
And in true makeover fashion, some queens captured the family resemblance while others failed to find a connection. Though, it was the strange judging choices that took center stage.
"Teacher Makeovers" was a heartwarming yet slow round for the competition. I'm grateful to have 90-minute episodes again, but with only five queens left, the pacing had a touch more filler this time.
Still, plenty of drama and great chemistry moments with the teachers balanced things out to make it a fun round.
Firstly, the "Spill The T" Mini Challenge brought so much fun and light drama to the Werk Room.
It's always so scandalous whenever the queens are asked their true thoughts about one another.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is all about inside and running jokes that carry over the course of a season. Sometimes, they even carry from one season to the next. Though Salina was sent packing by the judges, a majority of fans think that Loosey should have been eliminated instead.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 drag queen Loosey Laduca fought hard for the lead role in the “Wigloose” Rusical. It parodied the 1984 film Footloose, which longtime viewers praised. The film’s lead star Kevin Bacon was among the audiences watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, but his words held a whole lot of weight for Loosey and the rest of the cast.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 Episode 12 required the drag queen contestants to choose the roles among themselves. As a result, drama ensued that brought out some true feelings about one another. Loosey and Luxx Noir London both wanted the lead of Heaven Bacon, a play on the actor’s name.
Luxx and Loosey both resonated with the character, but Mistress Isabelle Brooks thought the latter wasn’t being honest.

It has been said many times that the fan base of Ru Paul’s Drag Race can be extremely toxic to both performers and fellow fans. The annoying number of posts I see in so-called “fan pages” that contain some form of racist/transphobic rhetoric, are purposefully vile towards queens from the show or even end in intense verbal fights between fans is ridiculous when really all I personally want to do is talk to people about how much I love the show! As fans, we also always seem to think that we could (if we wanted to) dominate any season of Drag Race and talk about how we would have done the challenge differently to win. I did exactly this a few episodes ago when talking about how I would have excelled in the interview challenge but personally, I think this week would have been extremely tough! I don...

Following her episode 12 elimination, a “very nervous” Salina EsTitties describes what it was like for her to be in the bottom so often and how she learned to “stop your mind chatter.” Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her conversation with Salina, Michelle gave Salina words of wisdom about how to receive feedback without taking it personally. She explained that as a judge she critiques the queens with the goal of telling them “what would be the best for you.” She told Salina that she “grew exponentially” during her time on the show and she’s proud of her for that.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has entertained audiences around the world since its debut in 2009, and the series has only continued to explode all over the globe with international spin-offs. Every episode of Drag Race culminates in a lip sync battle between two (or more) queens to some beloved hit songs. But throughout all those years, Beyoncé songs were notably absent from the lip syncs. In recent years, however, Bey has become a more common lip sync artist.

Beyoncé has been a part of popular culture for over two decades, first as a member of Destiny’s Child and later as a solo star. But despite her worldwide fame and hallowed place in the LGBTQ community, Beyoncé songs were notably absent from RuPaul’s Drag Race for many years.

This week the judges were happy with the performances that all six queens delivered in “Wigloose: The Rusical!” Loosey had set her sights on the starring role of Heaven Bacon during role selection and had to fight Luxx Noir London and Mistress Isabelle Brooks in order to land the role. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 continued on March 17 with the next step in the competition toward discovering “America’s next drag superstar.” Last week, the queens stood on stage in pairs for a stand up comedy challenge. In keeping with the spirit of iconic duos, both Luxx Noir London and Loosey Laduca were named challenge winners and Marcia Marcia Marcia was asked to “sashay away” following an impressive Lip Sync for Your Life against Anetra.
This week, the final six combined their dancing and acting talents to perform in the topical off-off-off Broadway show “Wigloose” about the cultural value of drag. Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 12 titled “Wigloose: The Rusical!” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, judge Ross Mathews, and music artist Orville Peck.
The seven queens still in the competition are: Anetra, Loosey Laduca, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Salina EsTitties, and Sasha Colby.
