The Linda Lindas have returned with their second new single of 2023, “Resolution/Revolution.” Stream the song below.
A spirited punk tune scored by a retro, guitar-led arrangement, “Resolution/Revolution” pays homage to the teen band’s influences. “Bela [Salazar, guitar] had been rocking out to a lot of Pantera and Judas Priest when we started writing ‘Resolution/Revolution,’” the band said in a statement. “She came in with a riff and as we worked together, it morphed into a composition.”
As for the song’s theme, lyrics like “We’re so small/ But we stand tall/ Right the wrongs/ And sing along” make it clear that teen punks are manifesting some positive change, and presenting it in an encouraging package to boot. “[The song is] about making small dents in big problems to make a difference in the long run,” they explained. “We’ve been playing the song live for a few weeks now,...

Exclusive: MGM Alternative is undergoing some leadership changes.
Lucilla D’Agostino is taking sole charge of MGM-owned producers Big Fish Entertainment (On Patrol: Live) and Evolution Media, which is behind a number of The Real Housewives franchises, after the exit of Dan Cesareo.
Cesareo founded the company, which was also behind A&e’s Live Pd and Food Network’s Amy Schumer Learns To Cook, in 2006 and sold it to MGM in June 2018. It is understood he is exiting after his five-year deal came to an end.
Cesareo will still oversee and exec produce On Patrol: Live, which has become a ratings success for Reelz, and D’Agostino will also exec produce. Cesareo’s arrangement is similar to that of former MGM’s Worldwide Television Group Chairman Mark Burnett, who will continue to exec produce legacy series The Voice, Shark Tank and Survivor, and Alex Baskin, who continues to exec produce...

Before becoming one of the most divisive filmmakers in horror with the likes of Halloween and The Munsters, Rob Zombie was just a musician trying his hand at the film industry. House of 1000 Corpses came together fairly quickly following a failed attempt to reboot The Crow, but the rock star’s Hollywood career almost never was due to post-production controversy that left his directorial debut on the shelf for three years.
Production on Corpses was completed in 2000 before Universal Studios refused to release it due to its objectionable content. MGM later came on board to distribute it in 2002 until a tongue-in-cheek remark by Zombie caused them to cancel the deal. Finally, Lions Gate signed on and released it in April of 2003, launching Zombie’s film career as well as a franchise that would be followed by 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects and 2019’s 3 from Hell.

There may come a time when it just doesn’t make sense to rank the broadcast and cable networks anymore. Actually, that time is probably already here, with most viewing now taking place via streaming and other means. And yet, Nielsen’s numbers — which include time shifting and other ways people watch, not just live — are still the best barometer of who’s watching what in the linear world.
And indeed, it’s clear that live sports are still driving linear TV — ESPN is among the few top networks to receive a double-digit boost in 2022. But crime also pays: Oxygen, which NBCUniversal reworked into a true crime network several years ago received a healthy 10 bump this year. And the biggest gainer in 2022 was Reelzchannel, at a whopping 107, thanks to the addition of the show formerly known as “Live P.D.”
Overall, NBC led the year in total viewers (narrowly over CBS) with 5.1 million viewers,...

The battle between Live Pd and On Patrol: Live producer Big Fish Entertainment and A&e Television Networks is heating up.
The Amazon/MGM-owned Big Fish has hit back at the lawsuit filed by the cable networks group in August, calling it “meritless” and laying out the reasons why in a motion to dismiss filing in the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York.
The crux of the issue is whether On Patrol: Live, which became a ratings success for Reelz, was a “clone” of Live Pd, which was canceled by A&e in June 2020 in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing.
“In 2020, A&e decided to cancel the show, wrongly believing that the public’s interest in live police programs had waned. After A&e rebuffed Big Fish’s efforts to reboot Live Pd at A&e, Big Fish moved on and developed On Patrol: Live,...

A&e Television Networks is suing Big Fish Entertainment, Half Moon Pictures and ReelzChannel for copyright infringement over their revival of “Live Pd” as “On Patrol: Live.”
In a complaint obtained by TheWrap, A&e states that this case concerns “brazen theft of Aetn’s intellectual property” by Big Fish, Half Moon and Reelz.
“Without any authorization from Aetn, Big Fish (the show’s former producer) created a clone of “Live Pd” featuring the same primary hosts, content, format, segments, and more, and sold that virtually identical show to Reelz, a cable network seeking its first breakout hit, which then aired the show over Aetn’s repeated and vociferous objections,” the complaint continued.

A&e Television Networks is suing Reelz and the producers behind the independent TV channel’s breakout hit On Patrol: Live, alleging the show is a blatant knockoff of Live Pd.
A&e canceled Live Pd in 2020 following nationwide protests against police brutality. Big Fish Entertainment, the reality show’s producer, revived the series in June with a new name and new home at Reelz. The suit filed on Tuesday in New York federal court claims Big Fish and Reelz schemed to piggyback off of A&e’s reputation by replicating Live Pd with the same primary hosts, format, and segments.
“Defendants intentionally have confused the public into believing that On Patrol: Live is Live Pd and is associated with Aetn’s brand,” states the complaint. “Defendants and Live Pd’s former principals openly and repeatedly have referred to Live Pd as ‘returning’ and ‘coming back’ on Reelz.
