Animator John Goras received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts and
his BFA from Syracuse University. Goras caused quite a stir in the
underground independent cinema community with his incredibly warped and
perverse, yet utterly hilarious and unforgettable 12 minute cartoon
porno short feature "Chirpy." This truly startling and often
sidesplitting one-of-a-kind oddball marvel graphically depicts the
unlikely, yet passionate romance between a cute little yellow bird and
a huge horse. "Chirpy" won the Best Animation Award at the 9th Annual
New York Underground Film Festival in 2002. Moreover, "Chirpy" was
featured in Spike and Mike's Festival of Sick and Twisted Animation in
2006 and was banned from a 2002 screening in the United Kingdom by the
Westminster Council on charges that it was obscene. John claims
"Chirpy" is his statement on modern pornography. Among the other
festivals that Goras' work has been shown at are the International Film
Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands, the San Francisco Independent
Film Festival, and the Z Film Festival in London. John followed
"Chirpy" with "Ghost Tank," which are a series of animated short movies
that take barbed, berserk and violent satiric potshots at such worthy
topics as war and religion. Goras was interviewed in the excellent
documentary "Horror Business." More recently John Goras has made a
sequel to "Chirpy."
