Julia Roberts also will be joining George Clooney for a Los Angeles fundraiser next month for Joe Biden’s campaign, headlined by the president and his predecessor, Barack Obama.
Clooney and Roberts will be part of a contest — run across social media and via digital ads — to try to boost small-dollar donations, according to a campaign official. Clooney and Roberts also will be featured in posts and messages to supporters.
The event is being planned for June 15 in downtown Los Angeles, according to a source familiar with the plans. The fundraiser would be the latest big scale event lending celebrity and political star power to Biden’s campaign. A New York event in late March featured Biden, Obama and Bill Clinton in conversation with Stephen Colbert, along with a celebrity guest list. The latter event raised $26 million, according to the campaign.

Update, 5:53 a.m. Pt, Wednesday: The “uncommitted” vote in Michigan’s Democratic primary garnered about 13.2% of the vote, while President Joe Biden received more than 81%, according to the latest results.
As huge of a victory as that is, the protest campaign to cast ballots for “uncommitted” drew more than 100,000 votes.
While progressives and moderates debate the significance of the protest vote — largely of Biden’s support for Israel in the war in Gaza — overlooked is what happened further down the ballot. Marianne Williamson, the self-help figure who had dropped out of the race, actually got more votes that Rep. Dean Phillips (D-mn), who was still in. She announced that she was “unsuspending” her campaign, even though she and Phillips were in the low single digits — also were beaten by the “uncommitted” vote.

Update: John Leguizamo and his wife Justine were given choice spots at the White House State Dinner: At the president’s table, seated with figures including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Earlier, Leguizamo told a reporter that he “definitely” would be hitting the campaign trail for Joe Biden in 2024.
Asked about Biden’s outreach to Latino voters, Leguizamo said, “I think he’s doing the right things, which is getting Latin consulatns and talking to Latin experts who tell him how to address us, and make the effort. If you make the effort, we will be there, but you have to make the effort. I think he’s doing all that — him and Kamala Harris as well.”
Previously: The guest list for tonight’s White House State Dinner for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and partner Jodie Haydon includes a number of names from entertainment and media.

After Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle requested to fly back to the U.S. with President Joe Biden on Air Force One but were denied by the White House. The reason cited was that Biden’s staff thought it might not be appropriate or would upset some members of the Royal Family due to the controversy surrounding the couple.
If the Sussexes were allowed to fly on the plane, another issue would have been who would pay for their ride. The Bidens are allowed to invite whomever they want onto the plane, but the White House only pays for official trips. Typically, when Biden’s children or grandchildren travel on the plane, the president pays for it personally.
Additionally, months before this First Lady Jill Biden was invited to attend the Invictus Games, created by Prince Harry, in the Netherlands. The games are sporting events for wounded soldiers or veterans.

Pete Buttigieg, the first openly gay transportation secretary, criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for posting an anti-lgbt video trying to mock Donald Trump – and seemingly trying to prove his own masculinity.
The video was posted on Twitter by the DeSantis War Room on Friday. This first part of the video focuses on Trump and the promises he made to the LGBT community.
It features short clips including one where Trump promised that he would “do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens,” which Trump said after the shooting at the gay nightclub, Pulse Nightclub, in Florida. Throughout the first portion of the video, the LGBTQ flag is seen numerous times, and references to celebrities who are trans, including Caitlyn Jenner, are featured.
The second part of the clip shows pictures of DeSantis and shirtless men seemingly in an attempt to portray DeSantis as more masculine than Trump.

“60 Minutes” has drawn criticism from journalists and other public figures for its sit-down interview with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, which aired on Sunday evening.
In the interview, Greene asserted that Democrats are the “party of pedophiles,” saying, “They support grooming children… Even Joe Biden himself supports children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries.”
The Republican representative doubled down on her comments in a Tweet, writing, “I will always fight to protect kids!”
Greene, who was elected to a House seat representing Georgia in 2020, has been a primary subject of fervent criticism from Democratic figures for several years. During her campaign, she voiced support for a range of conspiracy theories promoted by the QAnon movement, which the FBI has deemed a domestic terror group. She has also promoted misinformation regarding Covid-19 vaccines.

The hosts of “The View” had absolutely no sympathy for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, after he fled abortion rights protesters last week. To them, it was exactly what he deserved.
Kavanaugh was reportedly eating at a Morton’s steakhouse in Washington D.C., when his location was made known to the public. Quickly, protestors gathered outside the restaurant, voicing their upset with Kavanaugh’s vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. In response, Kavanaugh reportedly left the restaurant through the back door.
Following the incident, Chasten Buttigieg — husband to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg — poked fun at Kavanaugh’s response, tweeting “Sounds like he just wanted some privacy to make his own dining decisions.” And of course, the women of “The View” took particular delight in the irony Buttigieg laid out.
“You ain’t never seen shade like gay man shade. You know, they’re like on a different level,” Ana Navarro joked.

Opening his remarks to a crowd in the backyard of his Kalorama neighborhood home, Ireland’s Ambassador Daniel Mulhall quipped, “I’m kind of wondering: Is it legal to have so many people at a party?”
He was speaking at the Bytes & Bylines event on Thursday evening, in what could be described as a kickoff to a weekend of receptions, parties, brunches and special dinners surrounding Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. Covid cancellations in the past two years have put much of D.C.’s social swirl on hold or in a rather tentative state. And despite a contagious variant that spread through an event earlier this month, the Gridiron Club dinner, along with Vice President Kamala Harris’ positive test earlier this week, the show is going on, with most events requiring proof of a negative test and vaccination.

Photo: 'Mayor Pete' ‘Mayor Pete’, a documentary about the U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, opens with a behind-the-scenes clip (as documentaries like to do) of the director, Jesse Moss, and Buttigieg’s husband, Chasten Buttigieg, having a candid conversation. Moss asks if there are any particular questions that he should ask the mayor. Chasten briefly covers a handful of themes: identity, authenticity, and his presidential campaign. The questions aren’t too intimate, but they probe at the root of what may be the inspiration for his entire campaign. In January 2019, Pete Buttigieg, a young, gay mayor from South Bend, Indiana, announced that he was exploring a bid for president of the United States. Producers Dan Cogan and Jon Bardin of the production company Story Syndicate immediately took notice and contacted Buttigieg about possibly documenting his campaign journey. The midwestern mayor eventually agreed to be filmed, which prompted Cogan and Bardin to contact documentary filmmaker Jesse Moss about directing the project. But Moss, who at the time was working on “Boys State,” about a mock-government conference for Texas teens, turned down the offer. Then he saw Buttigieg’s March 2019 town hall for CNN and decided to cover Buttigieg’s 2020 Democratic presidential candidate. The result is Amazon Studios’ “Mayor Pete.” The 96-minute documentary captures Buttigieg on the campaign trail and at home in Indiana with his husband, Chasten Buttigieg.
