Exclusive: Nat Faxon has been tapped as the lead in FX‘s untitled comedy pilot by filmmaker Andrew Gurland. The project, produced by FX Prods, centers on a married man (Faxon) and his wife, who are best friends and determined to shake things up in order to save their marriage. Gurland wrote the script and will direct. Following his breakout starring role on Fox’s Ben & Kate, Faxon was in high demand this pilot season, fielding multiple offers. But the actor-writer, who won an Oscar last year for co-penning The Descendants, didn’t want to commit to a broadcast series full-time because of his projects on the feature side, where he also is looking to direct. A public hearing is to be held on Friday, March 18th in Brussels where the future of the Media funding programme is to be discussed. The event, organised by the European Commission is entitled 'Future of the Medias'. To mark the upcoming event Iftn spoke with Irish filmmakers who have received support from the Media programme over the years. These included Cartoon Saloon's Paul Young; Siobhán Ward from Crossing the Line Films; Grand Pictures' Ailish McElmeel; Fastnet Films' Macdara Kelleher; Jam Media's John Rice; Newgrange Pictures' Lesley McKimm and Magma Production's Moe Honan.

More than twenty Irish companies have registered to attend the Mipcom market in Cannes with Enterprise Ireland's and Ifb's Ireland on Screen stand. Irish companies who will be represented at the market include Adare Productions, Big Mountain Productions, Cartoon Saloon, Brown Bag Films, Screentime Shinawil and Tyrone Productions. Mipcom will run this year from 4 – 8 October. The Ireland on Screen stand this year will host a drinks reception on Tuesday, October 5th in association with RTÉ. The Irish Film Board's Naoise Barry, Teresa McGrane and Emma Scott will all be active throughtout the four day market event meeting with producers and fellow funding bodies. Paul Young from Cartoon Saloon will bring the groups' animated series 'Puffins Rock' and 'Pirate Zoe' to the market where he hopes to meet with broadcasters...

Last week, director Wes Craven offered up the above photo (via Twitter) of Ghostface, the franchise's maniacal killer, in what appears to be the set of the film, you can get a full-sized look at the shot in the RopeofSilicon gallery right here. Scream 4 will be released on April 15, 2011.
Anyone still interested in Steven Spielberg's proposed Abraham Lincoln biopic? Or have you lost interest after several years of delays?
