Stuart Fail, born Donald Stuart Fail in McHenry, Illinois on September
7th, 1963, is a director, author, actor and art director. He wrote and
directed the sitcom pilot, Around the Basket, (2013), under his pseudonym Stuart Grams. Stuart has ghost written five scripts: two television pilots and three films. All have been produced. Stuart is the author of the book, Pause: A Novel, (2007). Stuart is a playwright and his plays have been produced in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Minneapolis.
Stuart holds three Master's degrees, receiving his MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA (2012). He has an MFA in directing from Minnesota State University (2009), and an MS in Theatre Education from the University of Tennessee, (1998). He received his BA in Geography from the University of Tennessee (1997).
Stuart wrote, directed and produced the Off-Broadway production Consider the Lilies 2017. The development of the production began in 2013 and over the course of four years the play went through many changes, culminating in the opening of the play. The production ran the month of January, 2017. Stuart has spent 20 years in the theatre while intermittently working in Film and TV. Stuart's play "The Book of James" was chosen by the Manhattan Repertory theatre and the Riant Theatre in New York for production. His short play "the Temp" was chosen by EAT in New York for production.
