Our own Tyler Nichols gave the Frankenstein-inspired horror film Birth/Rebirth a 9/10 review after catching a Sundance screening earlier this year (you can read his review Here), and now a wider audience will have the chance to see it when it receives a theatrical release on August 18th. With that date just one month away, a trailer for Birth/Rebirth has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Birth/Rebirth is coming to us from IFC Films and Shudder, so we can probably expect to see the movie reach the Shudder streaming service sometime in the near future.
Judy Reyes of Scrubs stars in the film alongside Marin Ireland of The Umbrella Academy and Aj Lister of Challengers. The feature debut of director Laura Moss, who also wrote the screenplay with Brendan J. O’Brien, Birth/Rebirth has the following synopsis: Rose (Marin Ireland) is a pathologist who prefers working with corpses over social interaction.

Marin Ireland made her mark at this year’s Sundance Film Festival this year, with an unforgettable turn in the December-set Eileen along with Laura Moss’ directorial debut birth/rebirth. A reimagination of Mary Shelley’s classic horror myth Frankenstein for contemporary times, the film was picked up by IFC Films and Shudder for an August 18 theatrical release and now the first trailer has landed.
Here’s the synopsis: “Rose (Marin Ireland) is a pathologist who prefers working with corpses over social interaction. She also has an obsession — the reanimation of the dead. Celie (Judy Reyes) is a maternity nurse who has built her life around her bouncy, chatterbox six-year-old daughter, Lila (A.J. Lister). When one tragic night, Lila suddenly falls ill and dies, the two women’s worlds crash into each other. They embark on a dark path of no return where they will be forced to confront how...

Good news and bad news, "The Sex Lives of College Girls" fans: the hit HBO Max series is returning for a third season! But, sadly, one of the fan favorites is leaving the show. On July 9, Variety reported that Reneé Rapp, who plays Leighton, is downsizing to a recurring role in season three before she'll ultimately depart. Rapp then confirmed the news shortly after, writing in a statement on social media, "College girls moved me out to L.A. and introduced me to some of my favorite people. Two and a half years later - it's given me y'all and this community."
She continued, "Thank u Mindy, Justin and everyone at Max for believing in me. A lot of queer work gets belittled - but playing Leighton has changed my life. I love who I am 10x more than I did before knowing her. I hope she gave y'all a little bit of that too.
