Soccer Aid for Unicef today announced that the 2019 campaign raised a record-breaking £7.9m – with 100% of the money going towards Unicef’s vital work around the world saving lives and helping children grow up happy, healthy and able to play.
The star-studded match, which was broadcast live on ITV and Stv on Sunday 16th June, has surpassed previous fundraising records thanks to the public, ITV viewers, corporate partners, a host of A-list celebrities and the UK government – who matched donations up to £3m. £1.1m more was raised compared to the 2018 fixture. This means that to date, in excess of £38m has been raised since the first match 13 years ago.
It was also revealed today that next year’s game, due to take place during June 2020, will return to the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford – the original home of Soccer Aid for Unicef where the first match took place in 2006. It will...

The English Premier League named Animal Planet global president Susanna Dinnage as its new chief executive on Tuesday.
In June, the league’s executive chairman Richard Scudamore announced he was stepping down after leading English soccer’s top tier for more than 20 years. Scudamore will leave at the end of the year. While Dinnage takes over as chief executive, the Epl will search for a non-executive chair, effectively sharing the duties that Scudamore held by himself.
“We are very pleased to appoint such a capable leader to this important role,” said Bruce Buck, Chairman of Chelsea and the Premier League’s Nominations Committee. “We had a very strong field, but Susanna was the outstanding choice given her track record in managing complex businesses through transformation and digital disruption.”

One of Discovery’s top international executives, Animal Planet global chief Susanna Dinnage, is jumping ship to take the top job at the English Premier League.
The Premier League is England’s top soccer league and also hugely popular around the world. The TV rights are among the most lucrative in international sports.
Dinnage’s move is a surprise, coming not long after she was upped to become the first-ever global boss at Animal Planet. A successor has not been announced. Just last month, Dinnage told Variety about her plans for the Discovery-owned natural history channel.
She will now swap wildlife for soccer stadiums, beginning in early 2019. She replaces Richard Scudamore at the Premier League. He leaves at the end of 2018 after almost 20 years.

Animal Planet Global president Susanna Dinnage has been appointed CEO of English soccer’s Premier League. Dinnage, who has been at Discovery since 2009, will start at the sports organization in early 2019.
She becomes the first woman to hold the role and replaces executive chairman Richard Scudamore, who will relinquish his duties at the end of 2018. A popular figure within Discovery, Dinnage was previously more likely to have been seen at the French Open tennis tournament alongside stars such as John McEnroe with Discovery-owned Eurosport.
The Premier League soccer clubs have split Scudamore’s role and will now search for a non-executive chair. Headhunters Spencer Stuart helped with the appointment, which was given the greenlight by Bruce Buck, chairman of Chelsea and the Premier League’s Nominations Committee; Leicester City’s Susan Whelan; Burnley’s Mike Garlick; and Claudia Arney and Kevin Beeston, both non-executive directors of the Premier League.
