It’s been less than two years since TV exec Matt Thunell left Netflix to become president of Skydance Television. And in that time, Thunell — who previously ran spectacle and event programming at the streamer — has completed his first major assignment from Skydance boss David Ellison and chief creative officer Dana Goldberg: doubling their TV series output.

Fubar showrunner Nick Santora knows you’re going to make comparisons between Fubar and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s previous films, especially since so many of them are true classics. But Schwarzenegger’s first-ever TV series isn’t trying to retread any old territory, even as it drops a few references to some of his iconic roles and includes a True Lies cameo you won’t want to miss.
“You can’t duplicate a classic,” Santora says. “You shouldn’t try to, because people will see what you’re trying to do and you’ll fail. I think you have to make something original and new, and Fubar’s original and new.”
The action-comedy series sees Schwarzenegger as seasoned CIA agent Luke Brunner, who’s in for the shock of his career when he learns that his daughter, Emma (Monica Barbaro), is a secret agent as well. This makes things ripe for high-stakes father-daughter hijinks.

Although reactions to the series have been mixed, Fubar has been renewed for a second season on Netflix, as the streaming service obviously sees some potential in the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led action comedy series. Now, we know that Arnie will be back for the second season, as well as many familiar faces from Season 1, but we have just received news that a Hollywood legend is joining the second season of the series as one of its female leads. The actress in question is Carrie-Anne Moss, best known for her work in The Matrix franchise, and it seems that she will be another new challenge for Arnie’s character.
The second season of Fubar is currently being worked on, but Netflix hasn’t confirmed a release date for the season. The first season of the series consists of a total of eight episodes.

Carrie-Anne Moss, best known for her iconic role as Trinity in 'The Matrix' franchise, is set to join Arnold Schwarzenegger and the cast of "FUBAR" for the show's second season on Netflix.
Moss will play Greta Nelso, described as a former East German spy who has a "passionate history" with Schwarzenegger's character, Luke Brunner. In the new season, Luke finds himself facing off against villains from his past, including an old flame (Moss) who threatens to destroy the world.
"We're thrilled to welcome Carrie-Anne Moss to the cast of "FUBAR" for what promises to be an action-packed second season," said creator and showrunner Nick Santora. "Her character Greta Nelso adds an exciting new dynamic as a nuanced adversary with complicated ties to Arnold's Luke Brunner."
In addition to Schwarzenegger and Moss, Season 2 will see the return of Monica Barbaro, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Jay Baruchel, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, Milan Carter, Fabiana Udenio, and Barbara Eve Harris.
The satirical spy series, produced by Skydance Television, follows CIA operative Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) who finds himself thrust back into action after saving his daughter during an intended retirement mission in Season 1.
The series' first season garnered praise for its offbeat blend of action, comedy, and family dynamics anchored by Schwarzenegger's first major TV role. Season 2 will continue exploring those elements while raising the stakes with new threats for Brunner to confront.
A release date for the eight-episode season has not been announced yet. The series is executive produced by Santora, Schwarzenegger, Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, and others.

Following "Reacher" season 1, which set Prime Video viewing records back in 2022, wasn't going to be easy. But the second season of the show was just as sharp and self-aware as its predecessor, while also managing to feel a whole lot bigger. Most of that was because the production wasn't hindered by pandemic-imposed restrictions this time around. But the book on which it was based, "Bad Luck and Trouble," was also an arguably more epic tale than "Killing Floor," the novel used as the basis for season 1.
All in all, author Lee Child has written 28 Jack Reacher books in 26 years, plus a short story collection and a guide to the world of Reacher called "Rules." "Killing Floor" is the first novel in the run, but due to the plethora of source material, "Reacher" showrunner Nick Santora was able to pretty much pick any of the books he liked for season 2. Thor was almost even bigger — from a muscle mass perspective, at least.
“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson told Men’s Health that he was the frontrunner for the MCU role back in 2011 — until he mailed in the audition.
“I didn’t take it seriously,” he said. “I was like, ‘They’ll throw me the part if I look like the guy; nobody really cares about acting.'”
It seems they did. After the audition, the casting directors told Ritchson’s team the role “had been his to lose,” as the magazine wrote, but Ritchson “hadn’t shown that he had ‘the craft.'” The rest is MCU (and Chris Hemsworth’s bank account’s) history. Hemsworth, it should be stated, is no slouch in the looks-like-Thor department either.
To his credit, Ritchson took the fallout from the flubbed audition far more seriously than the audition itself. He brought the “Avengers” scenes to an acting coach,...

To paraphrase all those singing nuns, how do you solve a problem like Jack Reacher? If you're Christopher McQuarrie, you hire your movie star pal, Tom Cruise (despite the actor's notable height difference from the character as depicted in author Lee Child's novels — more on that later), and make a fabulous, still-underseen '70s-style political thriller/neo-noir film. If you're showrunner Nick Santora, you develop a TV series for Prime Video, hire the biggest Mack truck-looking dude you can, and make "a sharp, self-aware action caper," as /Film's own Valerie Ettenhoffer described it.
However, if you're Edward Zwick, you team up with your old "The Last Samurai" cohort Cruise and attempt to follow up McQuarrie's film with something a little bit different, seeing if there may be more to Reacher beneath his brooding brutality. Sadly, this approach failed to connect with audiences when Zwick's film, "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,...

[This story contains spoilers from the finale of Reacher‘s second season.]
Viewers of Reacher have now had one week to decompress, perhaps rewind, and think about how archvillain Shane Langston (Robert Patrick) finally got his in the season two finale.
After saving love interest Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan) from dropping mid-air out of a helicopter, Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) — while strapped to a gurney and with a knife stuck in his arm — goes to retrieve Langston and deliver him the same fate that had been handed to many of our series hero’s friends: being thrown out of a flying aircraft.
The scene was rewarding to viewers of Prime Video’s action-packed hit series. And it turns out that scene was also one of the highlights for Reacher showrunner Nick Santora. Santora doesn’t make light of how much he is a fan of both author Lee Child’s books (the source material for the series) and his lead actor, Ritchson.

Jack Reacher won’t be working alone in season three of Reacher.
The Prime Video series — one of the biggest shows on the Amazon platform — will feature the return of Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, Reacher’s (Alan Ritchson) former military colleague, in its third season. Prime Video renewed Reacher for a third season before its season two premiere in December and is in production on the next set of episodes.
Prime Video also revealed Wednesday that season three will be based on Persuader, the seventh of author Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels (which currently No. 28). The season will find Reacher going undercover to rescue an informant being held by someone from Reacher’s past. Neagley doesn’t appear in the book, so her presence in the series will diverge from the text.

Say what you will about the man, but Jack Reacher sure knows how to punch bad people real good. "Reacher" itself is no slouch when it comes to adapting the sanguinary action in Lee Child's source material for the small screen. There's rarely an episode of the Prime Video series where its namesake (Alan Ritchson) doesn't put his distinctive fighting style to use, wielding his elbows like multipurpose weapons the way John Wick deploys his guns. (Is "Elbow-fu" an actual term? Because it should be.)
To their credit, the "Reacher" writers do their darndest to vary the environments when it comes to the show's altercations. Over its first two seasons, the series has seen Reacher come to blows with folks everywhere from prison bathrooms to fire escapes, vast warehouses filled with smashy things that come in handy when you need to kill some henchmen, bars, parking lots, and even...

At this point, it's fair to say "Reacher" season 2 is a dramatic improvement on the first. Not only does the new season feel so much bigger than its predecessor (which was hampered somewhat by pandemic-imposed restrictions), the story is much more engaging than the small-town conspiracy Alan Ritchson's hero thwarted last time around. Part of that is down to the legend that is Robert Patrick, who brings a specific kind of seedy menace to the role of antagonist Shane Langston, paying homage to his classic James Cameron villain, the T-1000, in the process. But the camaraderie between Reacher and his former Army unit, the Special Investigators, makes for a more compelling watch, too.
That said, there's no doubt fans of the show will be missing the rag-tag group from season 1. When Jack Reacher first hit Prime Video in 2022, he arrived in the small town of Margrave,...

Season 1 of Prime Video's hit series "Reacher" was, by all accounts, a huge success. Not only did it break records for the service by topping the Nielsen charts, it finally gave fans a version of Jack Reacher much more faithful to Lee Child's book series, from which the show is adapted. Readers had been waiting for such a development ever since the relatively diminutive Tom Cruise fronted two films based on the novels but failed to project the physically intimidating presence that is such a hallmark of Child's ex-military police officer. The 6-ft 3-inch, 235-pound Alan Ritchson, on the other hand, proved to be the ideal Jack Reacher when Amazon and Skydance's streaming series hit Prime Video in 2022.
But while most fans were celebrating the arrival of a book-accurate Reacher, I couldn't help but feel the series felt just a little off. It certainly didn't hold back on the violence,...

When Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) first arrives in Margrave in the pilot of "Reacher," he meets Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin), the Chief Detective of the Margrave Police Department, who is investigating the same murder case Reacher wants to solve. Sporting wildly contrasting philosophies, Reacher and Finlay do not get along too well initially but decide to become allies throughout the series, with Finlay coming in clutch and saving Reacher heroically towards the end. As Finlay is one of the few characters who maintain a deep bond with Reacher, fans anticipated his return in the newest season, despite the narrative's massive time jump and the decision to adapt "Bad Luck and Trouble", the 11th book in the "Jack Reacher" series.
"Reacher" season 2, episode 4 deepens the shadow of doubt surrounding Tony Swan (Shannon Kook), one of Reacher's colleagues who served in the 110th Special Investigations Unit several years ago.

Season 1 already seemed like a home run for Amazon, racking up 1.84B minutes viewed across all eight episodes in the U.S. (which were released all at once) during its premiere weekend in March 2022, according to Nielsen streaming data. Bestselling author Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" book series focuses on a protagonist who never, ever fails. The titular Reacher is a one-man unit, untraceable and unkillable, who moves efficiently from one place to another like a phantom and bests the bad guys by the end of every case. However, Reacher's humanity is an essential aspect of his character — his deliberate isolation is a double-edged sword, a cross he has to bear for the sake of being the best at what he does. Prime Video's "Reacher," with its second season now underway, perfectly balances this aspect of Reacher's personality, with Alan Ritchson bringing the beloved hero to life in all his dynamic, idiosyncratic glory as he moves on from Margrave and solves a fresh mystery in the upcoming season.

This post contains spoilers for episode one of "Reacher" season 2.
After a long wait, Alan Ritchson's Reacher is finally back for more punching-bad-guys-really-hard in the face action. This time, there's one particular bad guy who is surely heading for one of the most epic "Reacher" beatings yet.
Prior to the second season's debut, it was announced that Robert Patrick had replaced Rory Cochrane in the role of Shane Langston, a former NYPD detective who now heads up security for a private defense contractor. While Langston doesn't appear in "Bad Luck and Trouble," the book on which "Reacher" season 2 is based, he seems to be a version of the character Allen Lamaison, an ex-LAPD officer who, in the novel, became the director of the defense contractor New Age. When "Reacher" season 1 debuted in 2022, no one could have expected it would become one of Prime Video's most watched shows of all time. But just a few days after it arrived on the streaming service, it had already been renewed for season 2. Now, that second season is upon us, and Jack Reacher will once again be venturing out to beat up bad guys for our entertainment. Judging by the trailer for "Reacher" season 2, this round of episodes will be every bit as brutal as the last.

"Reacher" is one of the best action shows streaming or airing anywhere, and Alan Ritchson was born to lead it.
Ritchson perfectly embodies the hulking, often sardonic, always stoic boots of Jack Reacher, the former military police officer who now wanders the United States as a vagabond who only stops to enact bloody violence on the unjust and the corrupt. Author Lee Child created a character of mythological proportions -- a vengeful, righteous piece of modern American folklore come to life -- and it's increasingly impossible to imagine another actor in the role. Ritchson's physicality is key, but so is the innate intelligence that powers that physicality (he always finds the correct evidence to lead to the proper heads to stomp). It's one of hell of a performance in one hell of show.

"Reacher" returns this week for a new season of righteous butt-kicking, and fans of Lee Child's super-popular book series will no doubt tune in. A straightforward action show on the surface, "Reacher" is elevated by a self-aware sense of humor, complex season-long mysteries, and an ensemble of unorthodox crime-solvers who are as brainy as they are battle-ready. At a press day /Film's Jacob Hall attended ahead of the show's season 2 premiere (you can read our season 2 review here), the cast of the new season contemplated the far-ranging, uh, reach of "Reacher." Namely, they responded to a comment about the show and book series' audience, which at one point was found to be made up of 60% women.
Why are women drawn to "Reacher," a series whose premise makes it sound like it would perpetuate the same toxic masculinity-fueled tropes as countless other "violent man on a road to vengeance" action sagas?...

Plot: Reacher is pulled from his vagabond life by a coded message informing him that a member of the 110th – his elite group of Army Special Investigators – has been murdered. He and some of his former military cohorts reunite to investigate and soon realize the case is bigger than they ever could have imagined.
Review: After two feature films starring Tom Cruise, the Prime Video version of Reacher brought Alan Richtson into the title role to personify the physical stature of Lee Child’s vision for the character. The first season of Reacher was not quite a mystery and not quite an action series but was closer to the novels than Cruise’s take on the tale. Fans took to the new Reacher, and a second season was ordered early, with a third on the way before the sophomore run even debuted. Luckily, the second season of Reacher is even better than the first,...

In a pleasant surprise for "Reacher" fans, this year's "The Fall of the House of Usher" served as a reunion for season 1 stars Willa Fitzgerald and Malcolm Goodwin. The Mike Flanagan-created, Edgar Allan Poe-inspired Grand Guignol saw the two actors once again sharing the screen, this time as future enemies C. Auguste Dupin and Madeline Usher during the show's 1979-set flashbacks. The only downside? It was also a bittersweet reminder the duo wouldn't be returning for "Reacher" season 2.
Indeed, much of the pleasure of "Reacher" season 1 comes from watching the hunky super-sleuth vagabond Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) unravel a criminal conspiracy in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, with the help of Margrave's by-the-book Chief Detective Oscar Finlay (Goodwin) and spunky police officer Roscoe Conklin (Fitzgerald). Between Reacher and Finlay's oil-and-water dynamic and the mutual respect -- and attraction -- Reacher and Roscoe share for one another,...

Reacher has been renewed at Amazon Prime it’s been confirmed, with Alan Ritchson returning for more action in season 3.
As entertaining as the Tom Cruise Jack Reacher films are, it is Alan Ritchson’s take on the character (based on the novels by Lee Child) which garnered the most acclaim.

We got a full trailer for the new season of "Reacher" at the beginning of the month but, you know, there's really never enough "Reacher" to go around. To Reach around, if you will. That trailer opened with a glimpse at a suspensful scene in which our hero Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) stands behind a woman at an Atm who's clearly going through something traumatic. Now we've been gifted with the scene in full. It's a perfect action amuse-bouche, showcasing the exquisite harmony of elements this adaptation of Lee Child's books has achieved. It's also preceded by a front-facing thank you from Alan Ritchson for watching the clip, which is nice!
The scene that follows begins with Reacher in line for an Atm -- a likely place for him to be. He notices the woman in front of him is shaking, murmuring to herself, and punching in a large...
