Anne Hathaway and Sandra Bullock appeared together in 2018’s heist comedy movie Ocean’s 8 directed by Gary Ross. The movie was the fourth installment and a spin-off from Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s series. The ensemble cast also included Mindy Kaling, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, and Awkwafina alongside Hathaway and Bullock.
The power-packed female-led movie received a positive response from the audience upon its release. It was however stated at the time that the movie wasn’t as smooth as its predecessors but the cast and their chemistry together blended well enough for the audience to enjoy. During the promotion of Ocean’8, the cast came across a host whose comments sickened the actresses.

Lucknow, Sep 13 (Ians) More than half of the sepsis patients that are admitted for treatment at King George’s Medical University (Kgmu) have been found to be antibiotic resistant.
According to experts, resistance is caused by overuse or misuse of antibiotics.
Head of the respiratory critical care department, Prof Ved Prakash explained that sepsis or septicaemia, or infection in the blood can lead to damage in multiple parts of the body.
Decreased blood pressure can result in multi-organ failure and even death. “What is concerning is that antibiotic resistance is found in sepsis cases,” he added.
Prof Ved Prakash said that out of over 2,000 ICU patients treated annually in their department, more than 1,000 have developed antibiotic resistance.
This resistance significantly increases their risk of contracting sepsis.
Highlighting the reason, he said, “People are indiscriminately using antibiotics for minor issues like colds and coughs, often without a doctor’s prescription. This...

Lucknow, July 17 (Ians) Before your heart fails you, it sends out several signals and warns you about the impending danger.
According to medical experts, people often tend to ignore bit of fatigue in life and ignore swelling in feet.
Dr Nakul Sinha, senior cardiologist, Medanta hospital said: “This is an incorrect way of responding to signals your heart is sending to make you realise that it is in trouble. We often hear such statements which are not taken seriously.”
He said: “Fatigue, breathlessness, inability to do normal personal and professional work, weight gain without reason, swelling in feet, are all early symptoms for your heart under trouble. Try to read and act on any such symptoms. A cardiac arrest is sudden but trouble in heart aggravates gradually and can be detected at an early stage.”

Lucknow, June 11 (Ians) Doctors in Lucknow have successfully operated upon a woman suffering from hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (Hocm) — a condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick.
Doctors claimed that for the first time in Lucknow, successful surgery for Hocm was performed.
Hocm is a genetic disorder that affects one in 500 adults, and can cause sudden cardiac arrest, particularly in youth and athletes.
Though Hocm affects both men and women, females tend to be more symptomatic.
The patient, a 28-year-old woman from Kanpur, had a history of difficulty in breathing, recurrent fainting episodes and palpitations. She was diagnosed with severe symptomatic obstructive Hocm, a valve located between the left atrium and left ventricle was leaking, and irregular heartbeat.
Given the severity of her condition, urgent surgical correction was advised.
Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery team of Medanta hospital headed by Dr Gauranga Majumdar, performed the complicated resection, plication and release (Rpr) technique.

Shamli (Up), Jan 29 (Ians) Residents of nearly 31 villages in Shamli district, located on the banks of the Hindon river, are facing a major health risk. They have been found to be suffering from dreaded diseases like cancer, skin, respiratory and liver-related problems, etc.
Dr. Vinay Kumar, District Malaria Officer, said: “Following the directions by the National Green Tribunal (Ngt), the health department set up camps in the first week of January in 31 villages, in which 1,311 villagers were diagnosed with these diseases. Now, a report has been formulated and sent to the Uttar Pradesh health department.”
Notably, the tributaries, including Kali, Krishna, etc., are some of the most contaminated rivers that have been causing havoc in the lives of villagers.
In Baghpat and Meerut, too, several villagers suffer from similar health issues.
The reason behind the health hazard is that the groundwater, which is consumed by the residents, has been contaminated.

Lucknow, Dec 7 (Ians) Medical experts feel that school children should be taught the technique of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, (CPR) in schools.
Prof Rishi Sethi, senior faculty cardiology at King George’s Medical University (Kgmu) said that this would create awareness among the school children and also help in saving lives in case one suffers from an attack.
“People should learn basic CPR which should be taught to students at school level itself and should be revisited annually. This way we will have many people who could help save precious lives,” he said.
The doctor said, “Sudden fall indicates it could be due to a cardiac problem and in this situation, CPR can save a life. It is simple. Just push the chest wall continuously after a gap of a few seconds. The previous method of mouth-to-mouth respiration is not required.”

Lucknow, Dec 1 (Ians) The Anti-Retroviral Therapy (Art) centre at the King George’s Medical University (Kgmu) has been helping AIDS patients find a suitable match.
The diagnosis of AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) often brings the social life of an individual to a screeching halt due to the stigma associated with it. Single infected patients often find it difficult to find life partners.
According to Dr Bhaskar Pandey, counsellor at Kgmu’s Art centre, “At the Art centre, we tell HIV-positive unmarried men and women about other patients, who can be their prospective counterparts. If they show interest, we help in counselling and matchmaking. So far, we have solemnised 67 such marriages in the past seven years.”
Dr Pandey explained, “We also explain to the man and woman everything they need to keep in mind while conceiving and during pregnancy. Medication and precaution can help an HIV-positive woman deliver a healthy baby...

Lucknow, Nov 14 (Ians) A sedentary lifestyle, perfected during the work from home phase in the pandemic, has led to a rise in cases of diabetes, especially among people in their twenties.
Dr Qauser Usman, a senior faculty at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, said, “Even after Covid restrictions are over, companies, particular in some sectors, still have the Wfh policy. This is perhaps the reason for the rising cases of diabetes among people between 30 and 40 years. Working professionals must learn to have a good work-life balance.”
Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general of Association of International Doctors, said that “Obesity, which is a big contributing factor to diabetes, is increasing among young professionals. They sit for long hours, keep munching on fast food even when they are working. This is an unhealthy lifestyle.”
Dr Mayank Somani said, “Diabetes is rapidly gaining the status of a potential epidemic in India affecting more than 77 million people.

Varanasi, Aug 31 (Ians) A research team led by Manoj Pandey from the Department of Surgical Oncology at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (Bhu), has identified the somatic mutations responsible for developing gallbladder cancer.
Gallbladder cancer is one of the most common kind of cancers reported in the Gangetic belt. The cancer is often diagnosed late and has a poor survival rate. The current five-year survival rate is 10-20 per cent.
According to Pandey, the researchers at Bhu have been working on gallbladder cancer for the past 25 years to find out the probable causes which continue to remain elusive.
As a part of the research, the team carried out next generation sequencing of tumour DNA from gallbladder cancer in 33 patients. This was further subjected to bioinformatics analysis.
The research team identified 27 somatic mutations that involved 14 critical genes. Of these, two genes namely p53 and Kras were the most...
