The X-Men has always been an IP that prides itself on the diverse and interesting cast that it brings to the table. However, lately, it had felt like the IP was just going to focus on some key characters like Magneto, Charles Xavier, and Wolverine while leaving other interesting characters in the dust. X-Men ’97, however, has broken that mold and decided to sideline the more popular X-Men characters to focus on the entire cast of mutants that it has at its disposal.
X-Men ’97 [Credit: Disney+]The show has managed to focus on a slew of characters that are usually relegated to the background in other adaptations, like Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, and Gambit. This change in the trend is something that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could benefit from continuing, at least when it comes to the X-Men corner of the MCU.

The smug, arrogant Comic Book Guy (Hank Azaria), proprietor of the Android's Dungeon, first appeared in the "The Simpsons" episode "Three Men and a Comic Book". In the episode, he sold a rare and expensive copy of "Radioactive Man" #1 to the young collectors Bart (Nancy Cartwright), Milhouse (Pamela Hayden), and Martin (Russi Taylor). The comic cost $100 -- a fortune to the three young boys -- and they had to pool their money to make the sacred purchase.
The trio, however, never decided who would serve as the comic book's official caretaker, and they immediately became suspicious that one of them was angling to steal it from the other two. A "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" drama slowly unfolds. The Comic Book Guy, having seen the boys' folly beforehand, became a Mephistophelean figure, cackling at his customers' hubris.

Time and again, the X-Men saga has proved to be Marvel Comics’ key source of bold, hard-hitting, poignant storytelling, with the stories of mutants acting as an allegorized account of the real-world treatment of the marginalized sections of society. With the latest episode of X-Men ’97, titled Remember It, viewers are once again reminded of the scope of such narratives, as a devastating tragedy taking place in the mutant nation of Genosha almost reminds us of an ongoing real-world crisis.

We’re midway through ‘X-Men ’97’ now, and fans are buzzing with excitement, calling it Marvel Studios’ best in a while. Episode 5 really hit home, stirring up some wild reactions. Genosha gets hit, and Magneto and Gambit make a heroic sacrifice to fend off the Sentinels and take down Mister Mold.
Meanwhile, Cyclops and Jean’s relationship hits a rough patch as secrets unravel—Cyclops’ telepathic chats with Madelyne come to light, while Jean feels a pull towards Wolverine. Just a taste of the drama from this week’s episode!
After Genosha was destroyed, people online had all sorts of ideas about who might be responsible, from Mystique to Mr. Sinister. One theory caught attention: Cassandra Nova, a villain set to appear in the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie. In the comics, Cassandra Nova’s tied to a mutant genocide, so linking her to ‘X-Men ’97’ and ‘Deadpool 3’ wouldn’t be too out there.

Michael Jackson‘s Off the Wall gave the world a lot of great, upbeat tunes. It also produced a pop ballad that was so sad it repeatedly made Jackson cry. Here’s a look at the tragedy that inspired this song.
Quincy Jones revealed the effect 1 ‘Off the Wall’ song had on Michael Jackson
When people think of Jackson, they think of dancing — both the King of Pop’s iconic moves and his incredible array of dance songs. “Billie Jean,” “Thriller,” “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” are still some of the best dance-pop songs ever. In addition, “Black or White” and “Beat It” work on the dancefloor even though they are rock songs. However, every pop star needs to put out ballads as singles to show that they have musical range, as well as a soft side. One of...

Weapon X-Men #1 Writer: Christos Gage | Artist: Yildiray Cinar | Colourist: Nolan Woodard | Letters: Clayton Cowles
This was a lot of fun and I am not concerned to admit that my enjoyment of this really caught me off guard. I get sucked into anything with ‘Weapon X’ in the title and sometimes in the past that has burned me. But wow this was so much fun! That is high praise indeed seeing as it doesn’t really involve any alternate Wolverines I hold a soft spot for. Okay Old Man Logan is tried and tested, but I feel he has been overused. Here he is presented perfectly as like a Lethal Weapon ‘I’m too old for this shit’ Wolverine. Then we have Weapon X from Age of Apocalypse. That four-issue mini-series is a massive blind spot for me, but I am certainly tracking it down after reading this. In this story...

The St. Louis Jewish Film Festival has begun is 29th season and hosted a special opening night celebration on Sunday, April 7 at B&b Theater in Creve Coeur.

Sapir students were just weeks away from presenting their final film projects at the annual film festival at Cinema South. In solidarity with Israel, and to specifically draw attention to the Israeli filmmakers coming out of Sapir College, the St. Louis Jewish Film Festival featured five students’ films. Attached to each one is a one-of-a-kind story about the directors, actors, and other individuals who participated in the making of the film whose lives have been turned upside down in the days since October 7, 2023. While he may be in the public eye in recent times thanks to the exceptional reception of the audience from his latest film Dune: Part Two, Timothée Chalamet had been stirring gossip among conversation circles in the past for being in a romantic relationship with Instagram sensation Kylie Jenner.
These rumors and reports were later proven to be true as the two had been seen multiple times throughout the later months of 2023 together, even indulging in some Pda.
Timothée Chalamet in a still from Dune
But shortly after they were sighted together, new reports started to come in, claiming that this was a short-lived relationship between the two, which had resulted in them splitting up with each other, right before the release of the star’s latest film. But so far, it has proven to be nothing more than baseless speculations as many sources report the opposite of this claim.

Like its dominance over the global box office during the 2023 summer, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has also been storming this award season, garnering several wins under its cabinet. And with the Cillian Murphy-led film leading this year’s Oscars with 13 nominations, it’s reasonable to assume its triumphant ran will continue in the 96th Academy Awards.
But while most agree that it was one of the best of 2023, which is saying a lot considering how great last year was in terms of movies, some weren’t thrilled by the s-x scene present in the film. And while Nolan clarified why it was important, the sentiment of it being unnecessary remains among some.

Hundreds of Beavers has been tearing up the festival circuit for months now, scooping prizes and rapidly building a rabid cult following. And with damn good reason. If you have even the slightest love for slapstick comedy and goofball antics, then this will undoubtedly be the most gut-busting time you have at the movies this year. Once upon a time in early frontier days on the Canadian/US border, Jean Kayak is an entrepreneurial cider distiller, who is often high on his own supply. One day, his orchard and stills are destroyed by the local beaver population, which is definitely up to something. This is done in a goofball musical opening number that serves as an introduction to Jean’s expressive face and silly-putty muscular...

"X-Men '97" is bringing the marvelous mutant heroes back to the small screen like they never left it, picking up right after the original series finale, "Graduation Day." Since that aired, the show's '90s setting has gone from contemporary to period piece.
The long-awaited trailer for "X-Men '97" debuted on February 15, 2024, and there's plenty to discuss even with less than 2 minutes of footage. For one, we've now finally seen the series' animation style, which brings modern shading and three-dimensionality to the original's classic cartoon look.
Much of the original voice cast is back (even if they only get a line each to show it), while Ray Chase and Matthew Waterson sound uncanny as Cyclops and Magneto. I'll admit I've been skeptical of "X-Men '97" before now — I've never been a huge fan of the original (the production values were quite low and often off-putting). Plus, the X-Men's world is so vast,...

Indie producer Harry Cohn, brother Jack and their associate Joe Brandt created the CBC Film Sales Company in 1918. And on Jan. 10, 1924, the trio formed the Poverty Row studio, Columbia Pictures. According to Enclyclopedia.com, by the mid-20s “Cohn had gained reputation as one of the industry’s toughest businessmen.” That’s putting it mildly.
Though “B” movies and series such as The Three Stooges, “Blondie” and “The Lone Wolf” were the bread and butter of the studio, Cohn slowly attracted top talent and directors and turned such newcomers as Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford, William Holden and Kim Novak into stars.
Frank Capra changed the fortunes of the studio. Signing with Columbia in 1928, he made 25 films for Columbia. His optimistic, common man movies attracted critics and audiences alike during the Depression. His 1934 screwball comedy “It Happened One Night,” penned by Robert Riskin and starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert, swept the Oscars winning five.

As the world waits for the unsealing of hundreds of court filings related to notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a new lawsuit has surfaced in Los Angeles accusing Epstein associate Jean-Luc Brunel of holding a woman hostage at a Canadian estate for sex abuse by multiple men.
The new accuser, suing under the pseudonym Jessica Kramer, alleges she was an 18-year-old model working in New York when Brunel — who was found hanged in a Paris prison cell two years ago in a reported suicide eerily similar to Epstein’s — “solicited” her employment.

The 2001 cult classic horror remake "Thirteen Ghosts" has a dedicated following for a reason: it's a brutally nasty, deeply creative horror film that creates its own unique mythology and utilizes it to tell a surprisingly heartfelt story. The movie follows bereaved widower Arthur Kriticos (Tony Shalhoub) and his family after he inherits a mysterious mansion from his ghost hunter uncle Cyrus (F. Murray Abraham). Unfortunately for Arthur, the mansion is absolutely murderous.
The end of the film pulls each of the 12 ghosts trapped within the mansion together for a bizarre ritual to make Cyrus immortal that requires the titular thirteenth ghost to work -- but things don't go as planned for crafty ole' Cyrus and he's torn apart by the very souls he was going to sacrifice. It's seriously satisfying, especially after the full cruelty of Cyrus' plan is revealed in the third act and the audience realizes why he...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from the fourth and final season of “Sex Education.”
When “Sex Education” premiered in 2019, it followed a timid teenager with progressive ideals, trying to lead the student body of his repressive high school to sexual liberation. By 2023, when Netflix released the fourth and final season, all of that had changed.
Moordale Secondary School shuts down at the end of Season 3, so Season 4 takes place in a whole new world. Most of our characters end up at Cavendish College, which is Moordale’s complete opposite. It’s a “student-led” campus where the kids make all the decisions. The queer kids are the cool ones, and anyone trying to attain it-girl status with meanness and exclusivity ends up at the bottom of the social pyramid.
It’s paradise for Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), who instantly fits in with the popular crowd. He’s surrounded by other queer people for the first time,...

Spoilers Ahead
So, we’re going to Paris after all?

Oftentimes, shows with multiple seasons get overburdened by the pressure of keeping up with their audiences while still upholding the integrity of their old characters. There’s a sense of being all over the place when they end up trying too hard to incorporate everything that’s a trending topic. This is especially common when it comes to portraying teenagers on television. All we need is a happy ending for our favorite characters, and that’s enough to make these shows work. Instead, they get mixed up in subplots that include time travel, fantasy, and a lot of random things that are unrelated to the main subject of the series. Sex Education season 4 does feel a little overwhelming with all the many topics it wants to touch upon in 8 small episodes, but at the end of the day, it delivers a clear message to anyone who needs to hear it.

When the X-Men debuted in the pages of Marvel Comics back in 1963, their superhero costumes looked a little more like school uniforms. The team at the time was made up of the characters Cyclops, Ice Man, Beast, Marvel Girl, and Angel, and they all wore a notable yellow-and-blue ensemble with hoods to partially cover their faces. "The Uncanny X-Men" also allowed creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby to skip over the bothersome task of having to invent a superhero origin story. Rather than a tale of cosmic rays, gamma radiation, spider-bites, or some other powers-granting conceit, the X-Men were merely born with their abilities. They are mutants.
When the X-Men universe expanded to include more and more characters, the blue-and-yellow ensembles gave way to a wide variety of outlandish costumes, each one adhering to the styles of the day. Those who read X-Men comics in the 1990s, for instance,...

‘Sex Education’ Season 4 Episode 7 Recap & Ending, Explained: Did Maeve Make A Decision For Herself?
The last few episodes of Season 4 remind us why watching Sex Education itself feels like therapy. No matter your sexual identity, gender, or race, feelings are felt, and the show tries to reach out to as many people as possible. Episode 7 of Sex Education is dedicated to everyone getting better at being themselves. To push for what is right for themselves. Maeve finally reaches her catharsis, Jean and Joanna have a tussle, and Otis is coming to realize just everything he’s messed up. Some difficult decisions must be made, and that means huge changes for the future (even if we don’t get to see them Tt).
Spoilers Ahead
Jean and Joanna
Jean’s been a therapist for a really long time, but the person she hasn’t been able to help for all this time has been her sister. Joanna was assaulted by one of their mother’s...

We never thought the words “cried” during Sex Education would come out of us, but here we are. Episode 6 of the teen drama is heartbreaking, as Maeve has to say goodbye to her mother. Otis is overwhelmed with a lot of feelings, and although he’s able to help strangers or acquaintances, he can’t seem to do the same for himself, his friends, or his family. With only two episodes remaining, a lot of drama is about to go down, and we’re hoping it’s all for the best. All we want is for everyone at Moordale to be happy. Until Otis and Jean are able to talk to each other and sort out their own mess, they’re going to struggle to get better themselves. It’s really amazing how much detail the show puts in, and hearing George Michael’s “Faith” when Eric is struggling with...

Phew! Episode 5 of Season 4 of Sex Education has us in a daze. Teenagers are always a mess, as Otis says, and this episode is too. Not to say that it isn’t a good episode, but it covers a lot of second-hand embarrassment. We’re finally seeing more of Otis and Maeve, but it isn’t in the satisfying, “we were waiting for the moment they got together” kind of way but rather, “Oh well, this doesn’t seem to be working out so well for them” kind of way. Because Maeve has so much going on for herself, Otis hasn’t had the chance to tell her about Ruby, and it’s been gnawing at his brain for a little bit. Will Otis make a mess of things, or is it because Maeve is just completely out of sorts? They’ll get over this obstacle, too.

“Sex Education” Season 4 has arrived.
It’s been two years since Season 3 landed on Netflix and a lot happened last installment, especially within the crumbling walls of Moordale Secondary School. Jemima Kirke’s quirky headmistress Hope Haddon did her best to glue the cracked foundation of the school — left behind by Mr. Groff (Alistair Petrie) — but she couldn’t stop the demise of the doomed school with her attempts to smother any freedom of expression. Thus, all of the beloved students, most of whom were clients of Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) and Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) who ran a sex clinic together, had to transfer schools. We’ll let Season 4 speak for itself as to the fate of the Moordale students as well as other characters in the show.

Netflix’s “Sex Education” is in session for one last season. Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey), Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) and more return for the fourth and final installment of the heartwarming and intimate dramedy series. The Moordale Secondary School crew face a whole new school year at Cavendish College, where most of them have transferred after the shut-down of their previous stomping grounds, run into the ground by Jemima Kirke’s Headmistress Hope Haddon.
While Otis, Eric, Viv, Jackson, Ruby, Aimee, Isaac and more have to navigate a new social scene at Cavendish, Maeve is across the pond in America taking a fancy writing seminar class. Maeve Wiley is one of the best-written characters on the small screen, but she'd be nothing without the phenomenal Emma Mackey bringing her storyline to life.
On Sex Education Season 4 Episode 7, many storylines reached natural conclusions as we prepare for the series finale of this Netflix hit.
Maeve's apprehension about going to Otis' home for dinner was driven by her feelings that Jean disapproved of their relationship.
Knowing that someone's judging you without knowing anything about you isn't easy, but as Jean has proven in the past, she's one of the best listeners.
The pair building a bridge between them allowed us to delve deeper into Maeve's deeply rooted insecurities and how she feels like she'll never be good enough.
Everyone needs a Jean in their lives because she has this natural way of learning everyone's secrets without doing much digging.

We’re taking our time watching the new Sex Education season because it’s the last one and we want to enjoy every moment. In Episode 4, the midpoint is emotional; it takes a melancholic turn, but at the same time, it makes you laugh out loud in a very Sex Education kind of way. This episode leaves all the main characters with some questions in their minds, and it’s a turning point for some of them. Some are coming to realize certain aspects of themselves that they didn’t know much about before. Sex Education Episode 4 focuses on Eric and Maeve more than the rest. It makes room for Joanna and Ruby to explore certain things on their own too, and an unexpected couple gets back together.

It's a bittersweet time for "Sex Education" fans. As Otis, Eric, Maeve, and Amy returned to Netflix for the fourth season on Sept. 21, those who've followed the sexploits of Moordale Secondary School have been acutely aware that it's the end of an era. Not only does the final season take place at new school Cavendish College, but all eyes are on how each of the character's stories will play out.
Since 2019, "Sex Education" has kept us entertained with its humor and heart. It has spotlighted a range of sexual identities and individual experiences, highlighted the impact of sexual assault and revenge porn, and encouraged open conversations. And while the final season continues to charm, it puts asexuality at the forefront in a huge leap for onscreen representation.

It wouldn't be the final season of a teen drama without relationships reaching worrying lows, and boy, Sex Education Season 4 Episode 5 left us with more questions than answers.
Otis has been making mistakes throughout the first half of the season, so it was about time he started to feel the heat following his actions.
He wanted to be Maeve's doting boyfriend or a Knight in Shining Armour during her difficult time.
That's commendable, sure, but he was in trouble in the first place because he's getting closer to Ruby again.
Maeve should've been made aware of her being his campaign manager from the beginning, and this mess would have been avoided.
He's so vocal in his therapy sessions about how having difficult conversations is key to good relationships, so it's a shame he doesn't practice what he approaches.
I will cut him a bit of slack because how could...

In the previous episode of Sex Education, Otis and Maeve decided to take a break from each other because of the many things on Otis’ mind. He’s also worried about his campaign to be chosen as the best therapist in school and is desperate to not be left behind when Maeve is having the time of her life somewhere on the other side of the world. Otis entrusts Ruby (his loving ex) to help him win the college over, but she has her own reasons to help him. If you thought the premiere of Sex Education‘s final season felt more like a spinoff or a backdoor pilot, you’re not alone! When the Netflix dramedy returns for its fourth go-around (all eight episodes are now available to stream), things have changed quite a great deal in Moordale. Maeve is in America, Otis and Eric are starting at a new college that feels more like a hippie cult or summer camp for horny teens, and Jean’s busy dealing with her new bundle of joy, Joy.
There’s a lot to dive into, so let’s do just that!

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Sex Education” Season 4, including the ending.]
“Sex Education” does not end with a graduation. The finale isn’t centered on a wedding or a death. Laurie Nunn’s Netflix import has long eschewed traditional genre labels (like “teen comedy” or “high school drama”), fitting snugly within its own sweet and inquisitive, challenging and enlightening depiction of our peak hornt years of adolescence — so why not do away with rote landmark moments, too? Rather than force any resolutions upon its characters, as so many TV shows choose to build toward over their final seasons, the eight-episode kicker excavates emotional closure for Otis (Asa Butterfield), Maeve (Emma Mackey), Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), Adam (Connor Swindells), Jackson (Kedar Williams-Sterling), Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood), Jean (Gillian Anderson), and many more.
For a show preaching the benefits of talk therapy, could it have gone any other way?
Likely not, though as the eighth episode’s last shot drifts away from Otis,...

Maeve And Otis’ relationship is off to a rocky start, what with her in America and meeting new people, while Otis is stuck trying to be a sex therapist again. While Otis is still excellent at being a therapist and truly knows how to help other people, he’s not quite mastered the art of treating himself. We now know that Otis called over Jean’s sister to help out at home because he was worried for his mom. Jean, who isn’t very happy about the prospect of her sister taking care of her child, still has to go to her new job, so maybe she’ll come around to the situation soon enough. In Sex Education episode 2, there’s a clash in the Coven, and Otis may finally have a way in with the crowd at the school, but will he manage to keep up his reputation?

It’s funny because we saw half the cast of this beloved show in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie only a month ago. Sex Education Episode 1 takes us right back to the lovely lives of Otis and his friends. The kids have now moved to “Cavendish College” mid-term, making it their new second home. With Moordale Secondary in their past, how are things going to change for Otis and the gang? Additionally, there’s a bundle of joy in Otis’ life now. Literally, his baby sister is named Joy, and Jean seemingly isn’t taking it quite as well as she’d imagined. With no Jakob in her life and Otis going off to college, will Jean be able to manage her new life?

There were many concerns that losing many of the original stars would harm Sex Education, but thankfully, the show is thriving.
Sex Education Season 4 Episode 2 put Cavendish's most popular relationship to the test, and it served as the perfect way for Otis to get one up on O.
Granted, he wouldn't have gotten the idea without Ruby, who is desperate to fit into the school's hierarchy, even if she has to work with her ex-boyfriend to make it happen.
Ruby and Otis were a surprise pairing on Sex Education Season 3, and I still believe they could be endgame.
Asa Butterfield and Mimi Keene have a lot of chemistry, so it's hard to consider Otis and Ruby being anything other than lovers when they share the screen.
Ruby wasn't over Otis when he ran back to Maeve, so there's resentment and some unrequited love there, which will probably rear its head as the season progresses.

After Moordale High was shut down, it was obvious the dynamics would be shaken up like never before.
Sex Education Season 4 Episode 1 welcomed us to Cavendish College, where most of the action will occur during the final season.
At first glance, the college is a complete 180 from the confines of High School, which isn't bad because it gives our favorite characters a different sandbox to play in as the series winds down.
We'll start with Otis because, somehow, he always seems to get on the wrong side of new people he meets.
The sad part of Otis' journey throughout the season premiere was that he struggled without Maeve and because Jean wasn't really serving as a mother figure in his life.
Cavendish was supposed to be where he returned to what he did best: Being a sex therapist to the students.
With Cavendish being one of the most progressive schools in TV history,...
