“Wayne’s World” is looking to party on in 2024.
The iconic buddy comedy lands a live stage reading courtesy of nonprofit arts organization Film Independent, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, and Mubi. The new version of “Wayne’s World” will have a cast solely comprised of women, queer, and non-binary actors, with Abbi Jacobson and Zoe Lister-Jones in the two lead roles originally played by Mike Myers and Dana Carvey.
In addition to Jacobson’s Wayne and Lister-Jones’ Garth, Kate Berlant plays agent Benjamin who was originally portrayed by Rob Lowe in the film. Nicole Byer stars as Russel, Poppy Cassandra’s character.
The cast additionally includes Robby Hoffman and Poppy Liu, with more names to be announced. The full “Wayne’s World” reinvention will take place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts’ Bram Goldsmith Theater on Wednesday, June 11.

Ben Schwartz is teaming with Film Independent and Mubi for a live reading of Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale’s iconic script for “Back to the Future.” Schwartz will both direct the production and star as Marty McFly, the 1980s teenager zapped back in time to the wholesome 1950s. Quinta Brunson, Sam Richardson, Drew Tarver, Gil Ozeri, Bobby Moynihan and Scott Aukerman (who will be providing his services as narrator) also star. The 2009 horror comedy “Jennifer’s Body” is set to get a reboot…on-stage with a live table read courtesy of Film Independent and Mubi.
Director Karyn Kusama, who initially helmed the film, is set to direct this interpretation which will take place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts’ Bram Goldsmith Theater on April 11th.
No other casting information is known, though considering the caliber of past Film Independent live reads — such as their presentation of Ruben Östlund’s “Triangle of Sadness” back in February — it should include several A-list performers.

“Triangle of Sadness” is moving from the screen to the stage with a live table read set to take place next week.
