Farugh Farrokhzad was primarily a poet. Indeed, she is regarded as one
of the most important poets of the twentieth century in Iran, which has
a millennium of poetic tradition behind it. Although she only made one
film, the 22 minute so-called documentary "The House is Black", this
work is generally seen as the crucial precursor of the Iranian New
Wave.
Fell in love with famous director Ebrahim Golestan. Golestan and his wife separated and he moved to Forugh's house to live with her, but
after months Forugh was killed in an awful accident and Golestan emigrated to Switzerland.
Had a son named Kamiar from her first marriage.
Her brother Fereydoun Farrokhzad was a showman who was killed in his apartment in Germany.
