Adopted while a baby by a pastor and his wife, Mindy grew up in Long
Island, New York. While there, she developed a passion for music and
started to sing when she was at a very young age. In 1991, her mother
lost her battle to cancer, prompting she and her father to move down to
Knoxville, Tennessee. When 1994 came along, she also lost her father to
cancer; shortly afterwards, she pursued her lifelong dream of singing.
Mindy rose to fame in 2003 when she was the first artist signed to
contribute to the Dolly Parton tribute album Just Because I'm a Woman.
Mindy covered Dolly's famous song, Jolene, which later became a huge
success for Mindy. "Come To Jesus" was Mindy's second single and proved
to be her biggest hit to date. The song received a good deal of airplay
on country, christian, AAA rock and adult contemporary radio. The song
charted at #32 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart. "One Moment More" was
the album's final single. In October of 2006, Mindy's sophmore album,
"Long Island Shores" became yet another roaring success.
