Axeman at Cutters Creek is a pretty great name for a horror movie so I’m not sure why this has been changed to Axeman: Redux. Although I know it will probably be a low budget affair, it still manages to conjure up images of classic eighties slashers with great death scenes and great gore. All this from the title alone, at least for me.
And the opening scene keeps in with that spirit. Very much feeling like a tribute to those eighties horror movies. Unfortunately it never manages to get to the heights of any classics, in fact it shares more in common with the eighties horror that is not so fondly remembered.

The cheekily titled 2Jennifer is the sequel to James Cullen Bressack’s horror-comedy To Jennifer, which told the story of infidelity and a lover mad with (blood)lust.
2 Jennifer, starring Lara Jean Mummert, Erin Marie Hogan, Erin Killean and Felissa Rose, is something else entirely. It’s a black comedy, it’s an uncomfortable horror, it’s a weird meta-film about making a film in Los Angeles – and it’s a successful blend of all three of those genres.
The story goes that Spencer, a dude who you’ll suspect from the very start has issues, arrives in La to make a sequel to James Cullen Bressack’s To Jennifer. The bio-pic crime drama House of Manson will release in the United States on digital and physical media on August 5th from Gravitas Ventures.
Read more about the film from the official details below.
From The Press Release
Following a successful film festival run, director Brandon Slagle's "House of Manson" - a tense crime drama based on the life of notorious criminal Charles Manson, will be making its debut on digital platforms and physical media on August 5th in the United States from Gravitas Ventures.
Previously released in the UK as "Manson", the film follows the life of Charles Manson from childhood to his arrest at Barker Ranch following his involvement in the deaths at the Tate and Labianca residences (among others) during the summer of 1969, which ultimately led to his trial and sentencing.
Charles Manson, Tex Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Leslie Van Houten all remain incarcerated to this day.
The film stars Ryan Kiser (Dead Sea) in the title role of Charles Manson. Having previously portrayed the role in the unrelated short film "Lie" in 2009, Kiser's performance has gained accolades for his fresh take on the character, portraying him not as the ranting caricature often seen in low budget film adaptations of the story but as a flawed, human individual who also happens to be responsible for some of the most heinous acts in United States history.
Also garnering acclaim is Devanny Pinn's (The Black Dahlia Haunting) chilling portrayal of Susan Atkins, who has since died in prison of brain cancer, and Reid Warner's (Oren Peli's Area 51) harrowing and unsettling take on Charles "Tex" Watson - who now ironically runs a Christian outreach program from prison.
Rounding out the cast is Tristan Risk (American Mary) as Abigail Folger, Suzi Lorraine as Sharon Tate, as well as Serena Lorien, Erin Marie Hogan, Britt Griffith, Chriss Anglin (Supergirl), Julie Rose, and Maxine Wasa.
The film received awards and nominations from festivals all over the world including Snowdance, Canada International Film Festival, International Euro Film Festival, North Hollywood Cinefest, Action On Film, Twin Cities Film Festival, and The California Film Awards.
“House of Manson” is a riveting retelling of a bloody chapter in American crime."- Inside SoCal

Who knew that James Cullen Bressack’s iPhone 5-lensed horror To Jennifer would inspire someone to create – with Bressack’s permission – a sequel that not only builds on the tory of the first film but also takes this particular “series” to a whole new meta level!
2 Jennifer stars Hunter Johnson (owner of LAHorror.com) – who also directs – David Coupe and Lara Jean Mummert. The film also features performances from To Jennifer alums James Cullen Bressack, Jarrett Furst & Jody Barton; as well as Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Veronica Ricci (Bloody Mary 3D), Erin Marie Hogan (House of Manson), Charles Chudabala, Josh Brown and Matt Holbrook.
Two filmmakers attempt to make the perfect sequel to “To Jennifer,” however a dark secret threatens the lives of everyone involved. Jennifer, a beautiful actress, now has two options: become the heroine of the film, or face a brutal death.

Four decades removed from the Tate murders, Charles Manson is one of those names that are entirely too capable of sending many a shiver down the spine. On tap right now we have the trailer for the latest film to explore his madness, Brandon Slagle's House of Manson. Check it out!
From the Press Release
House of Manson chronicles Charles Manson's life from childhood up until his arrest following the raid on Barker Ranch months after the infamous Tate/Labianca murders that sent a shockwave not just through Los Angeles but throughout the entire world.
The film was written and directed by Brandon Slagle, who was recently deemed the "go-to-gore-guy" by The Hollywood Reporter during their coverage of the European Film Market. While not a "gory" film, House of Manson is poised to take a more intense approach to the subject matter than previous film and TV iterations have.

With a cast that includes iconic scream queens Tiffany Shepis and Brinke Stevens, as well as up-and-coming scream queens Elissa Dowling, Arielle Brachfeld and Jamie Bernadette, how could I not review Axeman (aka Axeman at Cutters Creek)?
It seems, at least in the horror genre, that the 80s, and especially 80s slasher movies, are back. And as a fan of slasher movies I couldn’t be happier. Of course, like back in its heyday, the modern slasher has its good and its bad. In the grand scheme of slasher movies, Axeman sits somewhere in the middle – with enough decent kills to rise above the flotsam but with not enough of a meaty story to really count itself amongst the greats.

*there are spoilers here. Director: Jared Cohn. Writers: Geoff Meed and Kenny Zinn. Cast: Katrina Bowden, Randy Wayne, Erin Marie Hogan, Steve Hanks, Brad Slaughter, Seth Cassell, Darin Cooper, Jordan Pratt-Thatcher and Lisa Younger. Hold Your Breath, or for those in the Twitterverse #HoldYourBreath, is remarkable for being one of the first films to premiere in theatres from production company The Asylum. As a horror film, Hold Your Breath is not truly remarkable in itself. However, the film is still a fun watch, despite some moronic characters. Is having sex in a morgue really a good idea? The film's ending stands out for offering some interesting suspense, while the film's supernatural rules ground the film in a dramatic reality. Hold Your Breath is a popcorn movie that will entertain most horror fans. The story begins with seven characters heading out on the proverbial camping trip. A second still from writer/director Joston Theney's Axeman at Cutter's Creek has come in, and this one features Theney in front of the camera in the role of "Darren," who is finally ready to make his move. But is it as a hero or a villain?
Christopher Otiko, the film's executive producer, says of the scene, "[It's] where two characters make their motivations known. The film's sense of whodunit, or rather who's-doing-it, will have you guessing who the good guys and bad guys really are."

“Based on the urban myth that you can breathe in evil spirits when passing cemeteries, #Holdyourbreath follows seven friends embarking on a weekend camping trip who pass a run-down cemetery and find themselves arguing about the legitimacy of the urban myth. When one friend refuses to hold his breath while passing by, he finds himself the unwitting host to a notorious serial killer who jumps from body to body...

Nubile young bodies at first frolicking in the woods and then systematically dispatched by an edged weapon wielded by a masked lunatic. Ah, slasher flicks - we love them! And here’s the first word on yet another addition to that canon!

I’m sure most diehard fans of horror are familiar with The Asylum Production Company: they are after all responsible for some of the most outrageous, cheesy, and unintentionally films to hit the tube. Need a refresher on some of their… unique offerings? How about flicks like Mega Piranha and Two-Headed Shark Attack, just for starters? #Holdyourbreath was directed by Jared Cohn who works from a script crafted by Geoff Meed. Katrina Bowden (Tucker & Dale vs. Evil), Randy Wayne (Ghost Town), Erin Marie Hogan (Paranormal Entity), Devanny Pinn (VIViD) and Gerald Webb (Zombie Apocalypse) star.

A couple of days ago we broke the news that The Asylum was readying its first theatrical feature. Well, it's still happening; only now it has a bit of a different title. That's right, kids! Don't Hold Your Breath has become Hold Your Breath.
Also some new casting news has come our way for the flick: Joining “30 Rock” beauty Katrina Bowden, Randy Wayne and Gerald Webb will be none other than ... wait for it ... wait ... for ... it .... Erin Marie Hogan, who's pictured below in the largest image we could possibly find of her. The star of Paranormal Entity began her career at the age of three when she constructed a stage from cardboard building blocks in her pre-school classroom and directed her classmates in a "performance." She started her formal training when she enrolled in the Ballet Conservatory at age 5. She continued with voice, dance and theater instruction throughout her school years.

While I’ve seen more than a few indie horror anthologies of late—some good, others forgettable—the anthology film seems to be making a comeback. Like the classic George Romero/Stephen King Creepshow (1982) and the impending The ABCs Of Death due out later this year, The Theatre Bizarre (2011) is one of those films that lives up to its buzz….and fans’ expectations. Six shorts linked by framing scenes make up The Theatre Bizarre, a film being distributed by Severin Films.
The film’s opening and framing segments, directed by Jeremy Kasten (Wizard Of Gore {2007}) titled “Theatre Guignol” star the wonderfully bizarre Udo Kier as a life-size marionette and story teller in an abandoned theater. Virginia Newcomb plays a young woman obsessed with the old theater, who sneaks into it one fateful night to hear the strange stories. Throughout the segments are a cast of weird,...

Shorts Program 8: Horror Shorts includes 8 individual short films of various styles, for a total running time of 95 minutes. Played consecutively, these films offer a broad and entertaining showcase for independent horror filmmakers in the St. Louis area.
The Cask Of Amontillado (13 minutes)
Directed by Hugo Fleming, The Cask Of Amontillado is a tale of revenge, based on the story by Edgar Allen Poe. Two men (Mark Bunch and Billy Benner), with their minds altered by the effects of Budweiser 40s, wander deep into a subterranean realm, whereas only would may ultimately return. The film is more of a operatic ode to Poe, that a traditional narrative film. The Cask Of Amontillado contains no dialogue, instead told entirely by the very words of Poe himself. Illustrated by a haunting piano and vocal score (Somewhere Under the Rainbow, written and performed by Heather Rice) that draws on the dark heart of Poe’s literary horror.
