Wild Bunch TV-sold “Albatros,” Turner Latin America’s banner title “Amarres” and REInvent Studios’ globe-trotting “Peacemaker” will feature at a 54 series-strong Buyers Showcase, which launches today March 25 as a backbone of Series Mania’s online Digital Forum, Europe’s first big festival experiment in a virtual marketplace.
Also featuring a powerful Co-Pro Pitching lineup, packed by pedigree producers and creatives, the Digital Forum’s industry audience, such as the number of accredited distributors, still has to be confirmed.
Some high-profile titles are missing: Opener “The Luminaries,” for example, from Fremantle and Working Title, and HBO closer “Run.” That said, the Buyer’s Showcase looks set to include five of Series Mania’s original 10 main competition entries and 13 of its 15 International Panorama titles, the festival’s two main sections.
Looking to the long-haul, as it also address urgent financial fall-out from Covid-19, the industry needs festival selection more than ever.

Miami — In a big, bold affirmation of the value of movies in a new TV world, WarnerMedia’s Turner Latin America, one of Latin America’s biggest pay TV operators, is launching Particular Crowd, a film production-acquisition company with a 90 English-language movie slate for 2020.
Based out of Los Angeles, Particular Crowd will make many of its movies available on TNT and Space, flagship Turner channels in Latin America.
Broadening its distribution gamut, however, Particular Crowd has also signed with Cinepolis Distribución, the Mexican exhibition giant’s theatrical distribution arm, for it to open select Particular Crowd titles in cinema theaters in Latin America. Other movies will be available in serialized episodic format across social media platforms.
Yet other movies may of course go straight to HBO Max. Particular Crowd began to produce in early 2019 with linear networks in mind. With the announcement and launch of HBO Max, however, it is...

Cannes — Turner Latin America is a pacemaker. Few companies in the region have evolved so fast, driven into high-end series production with such energy. A dominant force in pay TV, Turner Latin America already produces 6,000 hours of programming, including its sports channels and Chilean network Chilevision. Given that, few top executives are in a better position to comment on evolution than Tomás Yankelevich, Turner Latin America’s Evp & Chief Content Officer General Entertainment. Variety’s conversation with him, in the runup to Mipcom, focused largely on scripted. He will hit Mipcom with a spring in his step, however, as his latest production in the non-fiction space, “El Disciple del Chef,” a cooking talent show, bowed on Chilevision on Oct. 7, notching up a 42-1% market share in the 25-34 target, 43.6% in middle class audiences, making it Chilevision’s best bow of the year. Here, Yankelevich analyzes trends at Turner Latin America and the region at large.

Miami — Turner Latin America and Mexico’s Dopamine, a Salinas Group company, have struck a production alliance to develop and produce three original series: “Tu parte del trato,” “Amarres” and “Coyatl.”
The pact adds to the Natpe announcement on Monday of “Las Bravas F.C,” the first series in Turner Latin America’s five-year strategic production partnership with Mediapro.
In another deal, ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Turner Latin America announced Tuesday an exclusive non-scripted representation and formats production deal for Tla on ITV formats for Latin America.
The Dopamine, Mediapro and ITV partnerships give further force to the muscular build in original production volume by the Warner Media-owned Turner Latin America, as it seeks to expand even more its leading pay TV market share of 26%, and prepare for an Ott and skinny bundle age.
Three highly contrasting series, all to be produced out of Mexico, the Dopamine trio also...

The show, which was created by Enrique Pérez (Noobees) and written by José Javier Reguilón (Vis a Vis), Luis Gamboa (Ingobernable) and Paula Rendón (Impresentables).
