In 2021, Pointless fans had to come to terms with the fact that change is the only constant in this crazy, crazy world when the show’s co-creator and co-host Richard Osman left to pursue other career opportunities such as being an incredibly successful crime novelist, and taking the main seat on his own game show Richard Osman’s House of Games.
Good for Richard Osman, it all seems to be very going well for him. But for Pointless?
Taking its cue from satirical current affairs show Have I Got News For You?, which settled on a revolving carousel of guest hosts when its regular host Angus Deayton was forced to step down instead of plumping for a permanent chair, Pointless has welcomed a series of co-hosts in the past couple of years.
First up were Sally Lindsay, Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne, Alex Brooker, Konnie Huq and Ed Gamble. Next came Andi Oliver,...

Hundreds of mourners lined the streets of a Kent village on Thursday for the funeral of comedian and entertainer Paul O’Grady who was been laid to rest following a “moving” service that included a eulogy from actor Julian Clary and a reading from Lord Michael Cashman.
The presenter – known and loved for drag alter-ego Lily Savage – died on 29 March aged 67. While his cause of death is yet to be officially disclosed, he suffered numerous heart attacks over the years.
The service featured a series of personal tributes, including a bronze statue of his beloved late dog Buster that had been placed on a leopard-print throw.
A photograph of a smiling O’Grady was placed at the front of the Grade I listed parish church surrounded by arrangements of lilies.

It takes many people to fill Richard Osman’s shoes, and not just because he wears a size 14. Back in April 2021, the TV presenter, producer and novelist announced that he was leaving his co-presenter role on Pointless to focus on his hugely successful Thursday Murder Club book series and other projects. Due to the ‘stars we see in the night sky are actually hundreds of years in the past’ nature of TV broadcast, by that point, Osman was already four months out of the job. His final episode of the regular Pointless (he’ll still appear on the celebrity editions) was filmed in December 2021 and aired in July 2022, with this touching message to Alexander Armstrong.
When Pointless returned for Series 28 in September 2022, it came with a rotating clutch of new guest-hosts sitting behind Osman’s fact-checking desk. First up was Sally Lindsay, and following her were Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne,...

Now in its tenth year, Christmas Jumper Day has raised over £27 million for Save the Children since its launch in 2012.
In a bid to help give children a more magical Christmas, this year a whole host of celebrities have donned vintage festive jumpers in support of Christmas Jumper Day, including Holly Willoughby, Alex Scott, Emma Bunton, Kate Garraway, Wes Nelson, Seema Jaswal, Dr Ranj Singh, Andi Oliver, Adil Ray, Suzi Ruffell, Alex Brooker, Nina Wadia, Georgia Toffolo, Nicola Adams, Joel Dommett, Lee Ridley and Adam Pearson.
For its tenth anniversary, Save the Children is encouraging the nation to dig out vintage jumpers, upcycle or shop second hand, to make this the most sustainable Christmas Jumper Day yet. After another year spent mostly in leisurewear, more is more this December 10th.

Director/Cinematographer: Alison Murray
Starring: Murray, Derek, Todd Lewendon, Wendy Schale, Andrea Oliver, Steve, Lindsay Berniche, Travis, Firecracker, Aimee, Skot
Studio/Run Time: Mjw Productions, 50 mins.
Up-and-coming director’s simple but affecting train-hopping doc
Before Alison Murray garnered acclaim for directing Ellen Page in Mouth to Mouth, she made Train on the Brain, a concise meditation on modern train-hopping. Murray illegally rode the rails across North America, sometimes in relative comfort and sometimes in filthy coal cars, with an assortment of young punks and self-described hobos. Train was originally released in 2000, and Murray’s greenness is apparent in her sometimes-facile narration, especially in her condescension toward the workaday slaves she espies from her freewheeling boxcar. But the characters—from Murray herself to the slant-smiled Todd—are indelible. When one of them does a funny dance in funny sunglasses for Murray’s camera, it’s just like a...
