[This story contains spoilers from the final season of The Crown.]
With the release of the last six episodes of The Crown on Netflix have come new questions about the fictionalized depiction of the British royal family.
In part two of the sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed historical drama, the stage is set for the future heirs to the throne as Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams) are granted permission to wed, and Prince William (Ed McVey) and Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) rekindle their relationship after a brief break.
“Those couples coming together felt like a beautiful end to our story,” executive producer Suzanne Mackie told The Hollywood Reporter in a previous interview. “That, in a way, peace is restored to the land.”
In staying true to his original vision of ending the series in 2005, writer and creator Peter Morgan had to also find a way to conclude the Queen’s story...

Musician John Legend had to strike a deal with porn producer Johnny Legend before he could use his stage name. The 44-year-old ‘So High’ crooner was originally named John Roger Stephens and, when he decided he wanted to adopt the performing moniker ‘Legend’ after advice from Kanye West and poet J Ivy, he discovered he’d have to clear the trademark with the adult film boss.
“I was born John Stevens. A friend of mine started calling me John Legend. Kanye kind of blew it up when he put it on one of his recordings,” he said on an upcoming episode of ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’.
“When I was deciding whether to go out as John Legend or John Stevens, it’ll make a statement before I even show up. Then I found out someone is called Johnny Legend – he was a porn producer. I’ve never met him before.

Is gay culture dead?
In perhaps the creepiest news I've heard in a while, Verizon has applied for a patent on a DVR that watches you while you watch TV. It will know if you're eating, cuddling, screaming at the television, and serve up advertising based on that. Does this mean I have to have an electronics-free room, for you know, "me time?" I don't need to suddenly see eHarmony ads popping up.
With G4 going the way of the dinosaur, NBC Universal is in talks with Esquire to brand the channel as an upscale men's network. The good news is that John Barrowman would still be a fit as a guest host on just about anything.

Ty Burrell is going to star in the new Muppet movie as an Interpol agent, which makes sense as Ty is pretty much half Muppet to begin with.

"Buckwild," the raucous West Virginia-based reality show that MTV has chosen to replace "Jersey Shore," is already stirring up political controversy.
West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin has reportedly written a letter to MTV demanding that the show be canceled before it even airs.
"As a proud West Virginian, I am writing to formally request that you put a stop the travesty called 'Buckwild,'" the democratic senator wrote in a letter obtained by the "Washington Post." "Instead of showcasing the beauty of our state, you preyed on young people, coaxed them into shameful behavior -- and now you are profiting from it. That is just wrong ... This show plays to ugly, inaccurate stereotypes about the people of West Virginia,” the letter continued.
John Stevens, the show's executive producer, defended the show in an interview with EW. “It’s not like looking at a train wreck," Stevens claimed. "There is...

The executive producer of MTV’s Buckwild — the network’s new reality show about southern teens that a West Virginia senator has already described as a ”travesty” — defended the program to EW by saying it “celebrates” the youths in a very positive way and that viewers will “watch the show and wish they could be them.”
“It’s not like looking at a train wreck,” says John Stevens of Zoo Productions (Spring Break The Ice, Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader). “That’s not what it is. That’s the part I’m really excited about. There is a certain coolness to it.

Earlier today, "American Idol" announced that they were lowering their age limit to allow 15-year-olds to audition. Well that makes sense, since season nine's youngsters — Aaron Kelly, Haeley Vaughn and Katie Stevens — all exuded professionalism and mega-talent under pressure. (Rolls eyes.)
I don't mean to slam Aaron and Katie personally. In fact, both of those recent contestants have knocked my socks off post-"Idol." Aaron displayed some legitimate songwriting chops and Katie's vocals during the finale were as good — if not better — than her co-star Christina Aguilera. But during the competition, both of those contestants received criticisms from the judges that suggested they should have honed their craft and experienced life for a few more years before standing center stage in front of 30 million people. It's hard to get judged when you're 25, and it's a hundred times harder when you're a sensitive 15-year-old.

Reality house Zoo has hired former Reveille executive Charles Steenveld as company president.
Steenveld will oversee day-to-day operations and production on such shows as "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" (with Mark Burnett Prods.), "Speeders" and "Busted."
Zoo was founded by its co-CEOs, Barry Poznick and John Stevens, and last year was acquired by All3Media.
"Ever since we were acquired, the mandate was to appoint a president that could help us grow while allowing me and John to still be hands-on on all of our shows," Poznick said. "Our mandate was to find someone who has business savvy and all of the connections."
Poznick said that his company's shows have largely mirrored the interests of himself and his partner over the years -- doing spring break programming while in their 20s, game shows in their 30s and now turning their attention to more family programming.
