Neil Young has many complete albums tucked away in his vault, but none have captivated his hardcore fans through the years quite like Homegrown. The album was cut in late 1974 and early 1975 just as his relationship with girlfriend Carrie Snodgress was coming to a painful end. He poured all of his agony into the music, but ultimately didn’t feel comfortable sharing it with the world.
“It was a little too personal,” Young told Rolling Stone‘s Cameron Crowe in 1975. “It scared me. … I’ve never released any of those.

Dua Lipa had the funniest line at this year’s Grammys, right after she won the award for Best New Artist. After noting all her fellow female nominees, Dua quipped, “I guess this year we’ve really stepped up!” It was the first time all night anyone dared to mention last year’s big controversy, when Grammy president Neil Portnow suggested women in the music world needed to “step up” to get on his level. There was something deliciously sadistic about the way Dua twisted the knife. But last night...

Neil Young paid tribute to his ex-wife, collaborator and Bridge School co-founder Pegi Young in a post on the rocker’s Archives site.

Pegi Young died Tuesday at the age of 66 after a yearlong battle with cancer. “[She was] surrounded by her friends and family in her native California” at the time of her death, according to the singer-songwriter’s Instagram.

We’re still processing that shocking news that Pegi Young died on January 1st after a short battle with cancer. Not only was she married to Neil Young for 36 years, but she was a gifted singer-songwriter in her own right and as the founder of the Bridge School she was a tireless advocate for children with severe physical and speech impairments. Much of her life was devoted to helping other people, making her sudden loss all the more devastating.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Neil and Pegi Young's annual Bridge School Benefit show is going forward, although much of the biggest names on the bill are looking back to the '90s. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are among the biggest names slated to play semi-acoustic sets along with Neil Young at the Northern California charity gig this fall. Other acts on the bill will include Florence and the Machine, Tom Jones, Norah Jones, Band of Horses and some "special guests." Pegi Young will also play with her band The Survivors. With the recent news that the Youngs had filed for divorce after some 30 years of marriage, some fans were speculating that the show would be cancelled, but, fortunately, the show is going on. Now in its 28th year, the benefit has previously hosted such names as Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Simon & Garfunkel, David Bowie, Metallica,...

The duo have maintained a home in La Honda, in northern California, for years. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 12. A rep for Young hasn't yet returned a request for comment. Pegi Young is one of our favorites here at M&C. Her sultry down-home sound and bluesy twang is so cool. Foul Deeds, which Young co-produced, is filled with her evocative lyrics and phrasing that made her self-titled 2007 album a must-own. Young is one of those gifted artists you must experience live if you can. We were excited to learn she will be touring in May with her band, the Survivors (Kelvin Holly on guitars, Rick Rosas on bass, Phil Jones on drums with Spooner Oldham on keyboards) on the west coast in May, in support of her latest album release titled Foul Deeds. Most recently, Pegi was seen performing .Body Breaks. on The Late Show with Jimmy...

Because I am given to a somewhat introspective and thoughtful nature (which some individuals refer to as "thinking too much") I occasionally become fixated on things other people don't notice. Lately, it's been the fact that on both the pop-r&B/hip hop station and the "80's, 90's, and today!" station here in Miami, the most frequent commercials are for plastic surgery centers or attorney referral services. On the surface, these two would seem to be unrelated but if you look a little deeper... ok, they're still mostly unrelated, but I'm still trying to figure out what cross section of the population has the money to be shopping around for a nose job and boob lift, but still needs to have the number for lawyers specializing in what amounts to ambulance chasing on speed dial. On that completely unrelated note, here's your Tuesday night TV:
