New Delhi, July 6 (Ians) Former BharatPe Co-founder Ashneer Grover on Thursday claimed that the new funding round by the beleaguered unicorn PharmEasy is not a “down round” but actually the end and will bring “sudden death” for the company’s founders owing to the anti-dilutive clause.
According to an earlier TechCrunch report citing sources, PharmEasy, which was once valued at $5 billion, plans to raise nearly $300 million at “a 90 per cent markdown from the previous valuation”. PharmEasy will see its valuation nosedive to about $500-$600 million.
Reacting to the report, Grover tweeted: “Down Round + Anti-Dilutive Clause = Sudden Death (Jhatka) for the Founders!”
He said that if this news about PharmEasy is correct, it’s not a down round but the end.
Explaining his argument, Grover said that since the anti-dilutive clause will kick in, it means that “Vc investors who invested in PharmEasy at more than Rs 5/share ever will get...

In his memoir ‘Doglapan’, Grover said that with the IPO being oversubscribed more than 30 times, he got an allotment of shares worth over Rs 3 crore.
“My RMs (relationship managers), based on grey-market premiums, were expecting the Zomato share to list between Rs 85-90, as against an issue price of Rs 76. I, however, was certain that it would do far better. When the share opened on the listing day at Rs 116 per share, I mandated them to sell all my shares,” he wrote.
By the time the trade got executed, “I got a selling price of Rs 136 per share. With my landing cost after interest being between Rs 82-85, 1 ended up making over Rs 2.25 crore,” he said. “Within eight minutes of the Zomato IPO opening,...

New Delhi, Dec 24 (Ians) Former BharatPe co-founder and managing director Ashneer Grover has hit out hard at Co-founders Shashvat Mansukhbhai Nakrani and Bhavik Koladiya in his book ‘Doglapan’, saying it was most painful for him to discover that Koladiya was “among the traitors”.
Koladiya this year moved on from the fintech company to pursue other assignments.
“I was the only person who believed him and led him to attain redemption after his unsuccessful start in the US. I had allowed him to do a secondary of Rs 4 crore within months of starting BharatPe, when the company had raised only Rs 1.9 crore,” Grover wrote in his book.
“Bhavik stayed in my fully furnished house in Malviya Nagar for two years without paying a single penny of rent. Madhuri gave his wife crores as loans for her to start her business. Did he start feeling left out after BharatPe became big? Or...

New Delhi, Dec 19 (Ians) Former BharatPe co-founder and managing director Ashneer Grover has alleged in his book ‘Doglapan’ that current BharatPe CEO Suhail Sameer called co-founders Bhavik Koladiya and Shashvat Mansukhbhai Nakrani for drinking sessions to poison them against him.
Facing a civil lawsuit in the Delhi High Court for Rs 88.6 crore fraud at BharatPe during his tenure, Grover wrote that taking advantage of the fact that “I do not indulge in alcohol, he would call Bhavik and Shashvat for drinking sessions and poison them against me”.
“Suhail detested Madhuri because she saw through his nefarious designs early. Along the way, he was also insecure as I had informed him that a new CFO would be joining us soon, which he thought would clip his wings,” Grover wrote in the book.
Grover further alleged that he gave Sameer more ESOPs than anyone else had been given in Indian startups, “giving...

New Delhi, Dec 18 (Ians) BharatPe Chairman Rajnish Kumar allegedly showed early signs of “wanting control” and to “make money out of BharatPe”, the fintech platform’s former Co-founder and managing director Ashneer Grover has claimed in his book titled ‘Doglapan’.
Grover, who last week said in a tweet that hiring Kumar was his “biggest mistake”, wrote that his exit from BharatPe has been the most publicly covered controversy of the startup world, “more importantly thanks to my own stakeholders, who plotted the most Machiavellian plot to get rid of the creator of the company”.
“Rajnish Kumar: Ex-chairman of State Bank of India. Invited to the board by Madhuri and me, he had shown enough early signs of wanting control and to make money out of BharatPe, which I ignored to my detriment,” Grover said.
“Whether it was getting his ESOPs increased from Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore on the first day in office,...

New Delhi, Dec 16 (Ians) After attacking BharatPe CEO Suhail Sameer, the company’s former co-founder and managing director Ashneer Grover on Friday hit out at Rajnish Kumar, Chairman of the board of directors, saying hiring him was his ‘biggest mistake’.
Despite Delhi High Court’s order to restrain from making defamatory statements against the company and its executives amid the ongoing Rs 88.6 crore fraud case, Grover this time attacked Kumar, who has earlier served as Sbi Chairman.
“Rajnish Kumar was my biggest hiring mistake. Not only because of what transpired – but bcoz I overlooked data. Under Rajnish as Cmd, Sbi stock tanked 25 per cent in 3 years (Rs 257 — Rs 192). That’s 8 billion of value destruction. After he left, it went to Rs 570 (up 200 per cent). Data is never dogla!” Grover claimed in his tweet.
BharatPe or Kumar were yet to react to his tweet.
Earlier this week, Grover took a serious dig at CEO Sameer,...

New Delhi, Dec 11 (Ians) Facing serious court cases filed by the company he co-founded, Ashneer Grover in his book ‘Doglapan,’ has advised startup founders to give spouses and family members a Board position and do not go by the Western concept of arm’s length and related party transactions.
Claiming that his book has created panic among BharatPe executives and this is the reason the fintech company had slapped several cases against him and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover, Ashneer said that “just because your business has capital coming in from the US, you do not have to go by their concept of management – of not involving family in business”.
“If you choose to work with your spouse, there should be no hesitation in designating them as co-founders as well as giving them a seat on the board, by virtue of their capability but also of the fact that they...

New Delhi, Dec 10 (Ians) Former BharatPe Co-founder and Managing Director Ashneer Grover on Saturday claimed that his book “Doglapan” created panic among BharatPe executives and this is the reason the fintech company had apparently filed several cases against him, including an over Rs 88.6 crore fraud case.
Reacting to a follower on Twitter who asked for a free copy, Grover said: “Na bhai – business is business — kitaab pehle aa gayi thi — yeh case shase to isliye aaye kyun ki kitaab se sab ki fat li (My book came first and this triggered the cases against him as it created panic for all (at BharatPe)”.
He further posted: “By the way – the real truth is now available for immediate delivery on Amazon. The book which precipitated so much onslaught – padhni to Banti hai! Ab aayega asli mazaa! (Read it as real fun will now happen)”.
He, however, did not mention BharatPe directly...

New Delhi, Dec 9 (Ians) In yet another move against its former co-founder and Managing Director Ashneer Grover, fintech platform BharatPe has filed for arbitration with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (Siac) to restrict his 1.4 per cent shareholding as well as strip him off his founder title.
Grover has about 8.5 per cent share of the company and of this, 1.4 per cent is yet to be vested.
Reliable sources told Ians that Grover will lose his unvested shares and right to use the founder title if the arbitration is granted.
When contacted, BhararPe declined to comment on the matter as of now.
With this new move, BharatPe has taken on Grover from three sides, along with a civil case in the Delhi High Court asking him to reply on the Rs 88.6 crore he allegedly swindled at the company along with his wife and close relatives and a criminal complaint with the Economic...

New Delhi, Dec 9 (Ians) Former BharatPe Co-founder and Managing Director Ashneer Grover on Friday attacked the fintech platform’s co-founder Shashvat Nakrani, saying he once asked him to bunk office for a whole year in order to complete his Iit degree while remaining on the payroll.
In a tweet, Grover said: “Doglapan: Shashvat (Co-Founder) to me. Bhai degree poori karni hai. Ek saal office bunk kar ke Iit poora kar leta hoon. Secondary kara dena aur salary bhi mat rokna – investor ko mat batana (Shashvat told me he has to complete an Iit degree so he wants to bunk office for 1 year to complete it. He asked me not to stop my salary and not inform investors either).”
Grover further posted: “Shashvat to Board: No objection in filing case against Ashneer”, lamenting that when he needed his support, Nakrani ditched him.
