Why wait till Halloween to wallow in the guts? This early autumn festival brings you fresh horror meat that's bound to be figuring later in the season. Like the promising opener Retreat, starring Thandie Newton, Cillian Murphy and Jamie Bell, or Stalker, the surprisingly nasty directorial debut of Martin Kemp. The four-day event spans the spectrum from lighthearted gore (slacker psycho comedy Some Guy Who Kills People) to really-not-funny-at-all dystopian nightmare (nuclear apocalypse horror The Divide), with special guests and horror gaming in between.
AMC Cinema, Thu to 9 Oct
Bicycle Film Festival, London
If you thought the topic of bicycles on film was rather limited, you'd be underestimating this resourceful global festival, which seems to find something new in the field of human-powered two-wheeled transportation every year. Did you know, for example, about the post-bmx street stunt scene in Accra, Ghana? If not, you need to see Bikelordz.

British model Daisy Lowe has teamed up with her mother, singer-turned-designer Pearl, to launch a special T-shirt in aid of charity.
The brunette beauty posed for a photoshoot while wearing the limited edition top, which will be sold by U.K. fashion chain Peacocks later this month.
The T-shirt was designed by former Powder singer Pearl Lowe, and bosses at the retail giant have pledged to donate 15 per cent of proceeds from the garment to Cancer Research UK.
Pearl, who is married to former Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey, says, "It was an honour to be able to raise money for a cause that sadly touches too many people's lives.
"Daisy looks fabulous in the T-shirt and I couldn't think of a better muse, however I wanted to create a design that will look great on women of all ages from 16 to 60."...

'When I did the shoot it was just me and the photographer. I didn't think about the whole world seeing me naked. Everyone can see me,' contactmusic.com quoted Lowe.

New York's seminal pre-punk icons The Velvet Underground continue to inspire contemporary musicians like few other bands in history. Last month in Paris, the V.U. love fest continued with an all-star tribute to the band held at an event called The Velvet Underground Revisited. The evening's bill included Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood, Air's Nicolas Godin, sort-of-supergroup The Hot Rats (which features two members of Supergrass and longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich) and more. They mostly stuck to the early tunes, largely culled from the 1967 debut "The Velvet Underground and Nico," produced by Andy Warhol. For their take on the immortal...

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World week is finally here! Spinner has kindly allowed both the score and the soundtrack to Edgar Wright‘s latest to stream in its entirety. Former Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek spiraled into a "dark" and "miserable" period of depression during his final days in the British rock band, and blames a group "meltdown" for his decision to quit. Ficek walked away from the Pete Doherty-fronted band this summer after admitting he had not been in contact with the singer for months.
He said, "To be honest with you, there is a lot of confusion. I don't really know what is happening (with the group). I haven't spoken to Pete since March. He did a gig without me and guitarist Drew McConnell back in April."
The band mates have yet to properly address the split, but Ficek has now started to open up about the trouble within Babyshambles - although he admits there are some details that are best left out until a later date. In a post on his blog, titled 'I'm slowly growing again',...

British rockers Babyshambles have assured fans their planned gigs will go ahead after drummer Adam Ficek announced he was leaving the group. Ficek recently sparked fears the band, fronted by Pete Doherty, was in trouble when he revealed, "To be honest with you, there is a lot of confusion. I don't really know what is happening (with the group). I haven't spoken to Pete since March. He did a gig without me and guitarist Drew McConnell back in April."
He has since left the band, but Babyshambles are planning to continue with their live show commitments after drafting in Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey to stand in until a permanent replacement can be found.
A Babyshambles spokesperson tells NME.com, "Babyshambles have parted company with drummer Adam Ficek. Currently booked Babyshambles commitments will take place with Danny Goffey of Supergrass filling in on drums." The rockers are due to perform at...

Former "Powder" star Pearl Lowe has miscarried the baby she was expecting with rocker husband Danny Goffey. The singer-turned-fashion designer, 40, announced earlier this year she was expecting her fifth child.
But Supergrass drummer Goffey has revealed the sad news that Lowe is no longer carrying the baby. A statement from Lowe's rep reads, "Danny Goffey has announced today that his wife Pearl Lowe has suffered a miscarriage."
"The couple have asked to respect their privacy at this difficult time." Other than that, the spokesperson offered no comment.
The couple already has three children - Alfie, Frankie and Betty - and Lowe also has a 21-year-old daughter, model Daisy Lowe, with rocker Gavin Rossdale. Lowe opened up about her pregnancy last month, saying "Danny and I are over the moon."...

Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey of Supergrass have said that they did not cover Michael Jackson at Glastonbury because it would have been too obvious a tribute. The pair played the festival in their Hot Rats guise but passed up the opportunity to play the cover of Jackson's 'Beat It' that sparked the formation of the group, London Lite reports. Coombes said: "It seemed a bit obvious. Everyone was aware of it. We (more)...
