"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" lives up to its title by placing a lot of focus on the clone troopers themselves. Some of the characters, like Commander Cody and Commander Bly, were inherited from the "Star Wars" prequel films. The show used the idea that clones had nicknames (instead of only serial numbers) and ran with it, creating many other clones -- including Captain Rex -- with custom names and armor to convey individuality.
One of the more striking clone looks is Commander Doom, who appears only briefly in the "Clone Wars" season 6 premiere "The Unknown." That name isn't an accident; the "Star Wars" website confirms that the creators named Doom after Marvel Comics villain Doctor Victor Von Doom. While Commander Doom gets too little screen time to see if he has the ego of his namesake, the creators used Doctor Doom's design to color his armor.

One of the best and most devastating moments in "Star Wars" is Order 66 in "Revenge of the Sith." To close out the Clone Wars, the clone troopers that have fought beside the Jedi turn and shoot their commanders in the back, on orders from Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious.
The most memorable death is Jedi Aayla Secura on the jungle planet Felucia, shot in the back by Clone Commander Bly and his brothers-in-arms. In one draft of the script (but not the finished film), Aayla is scouting for enemy droids and asking Bly for his input before he shoots, emphasizing her being taken by surprise. The Felucia scene would also feature Bly and the clones fragging Jedi Barriss Offee, but this was deleted, so the "Clone Wars" and "Tales of the Jedi" cartoons took that character in another direction.
That wasn't the only change to the scene. You see, in "Revenge of the Sith,...

We Call It Imagineering is a new series on Disney’s YouTube channel dedicated to the engineering side of the company. The first episode focuses on audio-animatronics and gives us a preview of some impressive new additions!
The short tour through Imagineering gives us a glimpse at retired and rare audio-animatronics from Disney’s past. If you look closely, you can see Zazu, who escaped the Enchanted Tiki Room fire, along with Captain Rex from the original version of Star Tours.
This video also teases several recent additions, including the new Bd-1 droids we saw parade through Galaxy’s Edge a few months back.
However, the most exciting additions shown during this first episode are those animatronics coming to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
The characters were shown off earlier this week on TikTok and LinkedIn, but this YouTube video gives us a closer technical look at them. The video focuses...

Imperial forces finally catch up to the Batch in their pursuit of Omega, and as the final season of Bad Batch nears its end, the stage gets set up for a grand final conflict between the renegade Clone Troopers and the forces of the tyrant Galactic Empire. Previously, an Imperial covert Clone operative managed to track Omega at Captain Rex’s rebel Clone outpost along with the rest of the batch and almost managed to capture her, destroying much of Rex’s forces in the process. The same operative returns in the latest two episodes of the series, once again causing much headache to the Batch through his machinations.
In the previous episode, the legendary Force user/ bounty hunter Asajj Ventress sought out the Bad Batch in Pabu, as it was revealed that she was Fennec Shand’s contact who had inquired about Omega’s M-count information. Ventress’ past as...

The universal brotherhood prevalent among the Clone troopers is one of the most unique aspects of Star Wars, which has contributed to a number of pivotal storytelling opportunities. Even aside from the Bad Batch, who share familial relations due to their unique origin, a bond connects all the Clones across the galaxy, irrespective of their allegiance. As the final season of Bad Batch reaches its midpoint with two episodes, Infiltration and Extraction, viewers are reminded of the connection with the return of a fan-favorite insurgent captain.
In the previous episode, after the long-awaited reunion, the eponymous team ventured to the planet Barton IV to learn about the location of the Imperial outpost in Tantiss, and while making amends with a tragic past, Crosshair strengthened his bond with Hunter. Star Wars: The Clone Wars saw Asajj Ventress as the animated series’ antagonist, voiced by Nika Futterman. The Star Wars universe is no stranger to galaxy-shifting events. The massacres on Dathomir and Mandalore nearly wiped out the Nightsisters and Mandalorians, respectively. The Empire obliterated Alderaan with the Death Star just to prove they could. The Battle of Yavin is such an important turning point in the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire that we still use it as the basis to determine how time passes – like the birth of Jesus Christ, events take place before the Battle of Yavin (Bby) or after (Aby). And yet despite the massive tragedies and victories that this universe has witnessed, Order 66 is still considered to be one of the most drastic and deadly.
Darth Sidious enacted Order 66 at the end of the Clone Wars as a way to wipe out as many Jedi as possible while simultaneously encouraging the galaxy to turn on them.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Ahsoka" episode 5 — "Shadow Warrior."
"Ahsoka" episode 5, "Shadow Warrior" (written and directed by Dave Filoni), goes further than any episode in the series before it in blurring the line between the animated and live-action sides of "Star Wars." While Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) is drowning in the waters of Seatos and fighting to survive, she's trapped in some sort of vision in the Force that could be nothing more than the thoughts in her head. Regardless of whether she's simply in her mind, the World Between Worlds, or the Netherworld of the Force (if not some other realm entirely), the result is the same: In order to live, Ahsoka must make her way through her memories. As she travels through these trials from her past, we see a number of things from the world of "Star Wars" animation that have never shown up in live-action before.

[This story contains spoilers for Ahoska episode five.]
Ahsoka episode five takes a break from the conflict at hand to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane — one that expands on a major cameo revealed at the end of last week’s episode.
Directed and written by Dave Filoni, the midseason episode picks up right after the major cliffhanger in episode four, in which Hayden Christensen reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker, confronting Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) in a location that appeared to be the World Between Worlds.
Dressed in black Jedi garments akin to his look in Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of Sith, and de-aged to look like his younger self, this version of Anakin is different from that of a traditional blue Force ghost. While that part isn’t fully explained in the episode, it may have something to do with the World Between Worlds itself, which was first seen in Star Wars Rebels season four.

Contending with the past can be pretty challenging, especially when it is marked by sudden loss and betrayal. These feelings weigh heavy on the shoulders of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), who is forced to confront her Master and his legacy of death and destruction in a situation similar to the World Between Worlds in the latest episode of "Ahsoka." While this simulated space mimics limbo, the experiences that Ahsoka relives allow her to face an essential truth: irrespective of her past, she must choose life, and shape her own legacy in a world destined for chaos. While such hope is too late for Anakin (Hayden Christensen), there is still a chance for Ahsoka to shape her own destiny by not repeating her Master's errors.

This article contains spoilers for "Ahsoka" episode 4, "Fallen Jedi."
It doesn't take much to excite fans of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." Tell them there would be new episodes, or that Captain Rex would appear somewhere, and they might get worked up. But hearing two simple words on the latest episode of "Ahsoka" was enough to send them reeling:
"Hey, Snips."
That's it. Those are the two words. Those two simple words promised the first appearance of Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars: Ahsoka," and we were not let down. This live-action iteration of Anakin never got to interact with his fan-favorite Padawan until now, and he certainly never had a chance to use her old nickname. Hearing it uttered in Christensen's voice at the end of episode 4, "Fallen Jedi," is nothing short of spine-tingling.

All hail Ahsoka! The young Jedi (voiced by Ashley Eckstein) first appeared in "The Clone Wars" to mixed reactions from "Star Wars" fans. Since then, however, she has grown into a popular character in George Lucas' sprawling franchise, so much so that she's received her own Disney+ TV series starring Rosario Dawson in the role. Her close relationship with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi ensures she is never too far from essential moments seen on "The Clone Wars" and other TV shows like "Star Wars Rebels," "Star Wars: The Bad Batch," and "Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures."
With so many appearances in animation, it's tough to pin down Ahsoka's best scenes. Whether it be a killer lightsaber duel or a brilliant bit of heroism, there's no shortage of incredible sequences. However, after sifting through the 100-plus episodes of "The Clone Wars," "Rebels," and others, I've landed on a list of...

We have seen plenty of "Star Wars" characters from across the canon make the transition from one medium to another, from Thrawn in books to General Grievous and Saw Guerrera starting out in animation. That being said, the past few years have seen many an animated character make the transition to live-action in "Star Wars" TV shows on Disney+ — mostly ones Dave Filoni was involved in. Characters like Cad Bane appeared in "The Book of Boba Fett," while both Bo-Katan Kryze and Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios have shown up on "The Mandalorian."
This last part is important, as Filoni (who has become probably the biggest creative voice in "Star Wars "at the moment) seems to be continuing the stories he started in animation in live-action. That takes on a new level with Ahsoka Tano, the character Filoni helped create on her way to becoming one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.

With the sudden passing of actor Paul Reubens after a private battle with cancer, the outpouring across the country and the world has been comforting, to say the least. Reubens will always be most associated with Pee-wee Herman, the character he created and developed when he was a part of the world-famous comedy troupe The Groundlings during the late '70s. As Pee-wee became more entrenched into our own cultural fabric and "Pee-wee's Playhouse" hit the airwaves every Saturday morning, a generation of '80s kids fell in love with him.
With Tim Burton's "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" and its sequel "Big Top Pee-wee," Reubens carved out a franchise of his very own during the same decade where the original "Star Wars" trilogy completely dominated the box office. This Star Wars article contains spoilers for The Bad Batch.
The premise of The Bad Batch has its roots in The Clone Wars animated series, where the central squad of mutant clones first made their debut, so it only makes sense that the spinoff would bring back some of our favorites from that era of Star Wars. So far, we’ve seen the return of Captain Rex in season one, with Commander Cody also recently popping up in season two. Now, this week’s episode of The Bad Batch, titled “Tribe,” brings back yet another Clone Wars character: the Wookiee Jedi padawan Gungi.
First introduced in season five of The Clone Wars, Gungi is one of the five Jedi younglings who went on a rite of passage to the planet Ilum, a sacred place where they must find kyber crystals to build their very first lightsabers, an important step on...
The premise of The Bad Batch has its roots in The Clone Wars animated series, where the central squad of mutant clones first made their debut, so it only makes sense that the spinoff would bring back some of our favorites from that era of Star Wars. The last piece of "Star Wars" media that George Lucas was directly involved in was "The Clone Wars," the 2008 CGI cartoon set between Episodes II and III. The series, which introduced fan-favorite characters like Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex, was created by Lucas, though supervising director Dave Filoni had a heavy hand in shaping it too. The series fostered an enduring creative partnership and friendship between Lucas and Filoni — it's not just Jedi Masters who take on apprentices.
However, in a recent interview with /Film, "The Clone Wars" writer Henry Gilroy revealed that Lucas initially planned a much more hands-off approach: "I'm retired. I might see you guys once a year, twice a year maybe. You guys are making this. I'm not going to be around," Lucas apparently said. After all, Lucas had already completed the story he'd set out to tell with the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy. However, seeing...

This Star Wars article contains spoilers for The Bad Batch.
Eleven movies later, Revenge of the Sith remains the darkest chapter in the Star Wars film saga: the Jedi are all but decimated, the Dark Lord of the Sith becomes Emperor of the galaxy, Anakin Skywalker is transformed into an evil cyborg monstrosity named Darth Vader, and Luke and Leia are orphaned after Padme’s death. Back in 2005, fans already knew most of these things were coming. After all, everything established in 1977 about the Empire, Vader, Luke, and Obi-Wan had to be set up in the final Prequel film.
But even if these heartbreaking twists did feel inevitable in the mid-aughts, that’s not stopped Star Wars fans from debating and theorizing about the choices made by certain characters in the decades since. Even more than Anakin’s decision to turn on his friends and family, or the weird storytelling...

On "Star Trek: Prodigy," veteran voice actor Dee Bradley Baker plays the character of Murf, a sentient Mellanoid slime worm possessed of a sweet, childlike temperament. Murf hovers somewhere between crew mate and loyal pet, and appears to be indestructible. In an early episode of the show, Murf swallows a photon grenade which explodes inside it. The character is unfazed. Murf also, as of this writing, appears to be mutating into something new, and recently entered a cocoon and pupated into a similar but more humanoid creature with rudimentary limbs. Throughout, Murf has remained nonverbal, communicating through hums, mutterings, and sighs.
Baker is one of his generation's most prolific voice actors, playing not only superhero and "Star Wars" characters, but also providing animal noises for numerous productions. He recently played the voice of the beleaguered frog lady in an episode of "The Mandalorian." Baker first appeared as Olmec in "Legends...

For better or worse, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is for the fans. This is clear from the very first episode, in which a one-year-old Ahoska Tano faces an unexpected crisis during a hunting trip with her mother (Janina Gavankar). If you know much about the fan-favorite character already, I presume it offers a sweet little taste of the fearlessness that defines her, along with clarifying insights into the loving, tight-knit, nature-loving community that birthed her.
If you don’t, though — and here I will confess that I did not, having never gotten into The Clone Wars or Star Wars Rebels — the vignette feels like a detailed answer to a question never even imagined, much less asked. That doesn’t make it a bad time, necessarily. But it does make it a less than ideal entry point into the animated corner of the ever-expanding Star Wars galaxy.

Few Jedi survived the Palpatine's great purge of their order. His plan was insidious, separating the Jedi from their comrades and turning their own troops against them. Although the plan was long and circuitous, taking decades to pull off, none of the Jedi saw it coming and were swept up into its clutches. Of the Jedi who did survive, there were an important few. How did they make it? With Master Yoda, he might have been the most sensitive of all the Jedi and could feel the death of the Jedi across the galaxy and knew something was afoot. For Obi-Wan Kenobi, that might have been blind luck that he didn't die when his varactyl was shot down by Commander Cody. For Kanan Jarrus, it was the confusion created by the Bad Batch who didn't quite know what was going on,...

When it comes to projects set in what Obi-Wan Kenobi once dubbed the "dark times" betwen the original and prequel trilogies, the "Star Wars" franchise has a bit of a mixed track record. "Solo: A Star Wars Story," for example, is a perfectly fun heist adventure. But unless the only thing you care about is learning how Han Solo got all his cool stuff, it's not exactly enlightening with respect to this highly fraught period in "Star Wars" history.
On the other hand, there's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." What might've been a movie that existed solely to fill in a so-called "plot hole" from "Star Wars: A New Hope" (why the first Death Star had a weak spot in its design) proved to a daring take on the franchise — one that embraced a grittier and more adult tone that past films,...
