We’ll see Terrifier 2 star Lauren Lavera get her rematch with Art the Clown when Terrifier 3 reaches theatres this October, but sometime this year we’ll also have the chance to see Lavera take the lead in the pregnancy horror film The Fetus. A specific release date hasn’t yet been announced for this one, but a trailer for the film has made its way online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Written and directed by Joe Lam, with Nathan Faudree and Yuke Li credited as story consultants, The Fetus tells the story of a couple struggling to learn the truth about the origins of their unborn child– a demonic entity that emerges from the body. Here’s an alternative synopsis: When Alessa becomes pregnant, it brings up Chris’ deep-rooted trauma surrounding fatherhood. Upon discovering that their fetus craves human blood, they visit his father,...

Tearsucker: "The film tells the story of Lilly (Allison Walter), an emotionally vulnerable trauma survivor who is desperate to heal and get on with her life. Despite the support of her best friend Deb (Danielle Mcrae Spisso), Lilly is completely isolated. When she crosses paths with a charming stranger, Tom (Sam Brittan), at the park, she feels hope for the first time in months. Tom sweeps Lilly off her feet and invites her on a romantic weekend getaway. However, things take a disturbing turn when Lily discovers that Tom has an unusual appetite for tears… and will stop at nothing to get them.
Tearsucker is a stylish, twisted thriller that gives a true look at toxic relationships and the power dynamic that exists within them, as well as the red flags we often ignore."
Director: Stephen Vanderpool Actors: Allison Walter , Sam Brittan , Danielle McRae Spisso

Happy New Year everyone, and welcome to my faves of ‘22. It’s become redundant to say “it was another great year” but goddammit I can’t lie: 2022 was loaded with quality horror, up and down the line, across all media.
This means as with every recent year, I have missed several releases – a few of the big ones, and several smaller yet intriguing entries. My frequent bouts of absenteeism this time around weren’t because of any bouts of laziness or writer’s malaise, but rather due to working on my first book, A Cut Below: A Celebration Of B Horror Movies, 1950s - 1980s, coming this year from McFarland Publishing! Twelve film festivals each housing essays on five films with a common theme. I can hardly wait to share it with the world. End of plug!

(Welcome to The Daily Stream, an ongoing series in which the /Film team shares what they've been watching, why it's worth checking out, and where you can stream it.)
The Movie: "A Wounded Fawn"
Where You Can Stream It: Shudder
The Pitch: Rod Serling's opening narration for "The Twilight Zone" teased "a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind." It's in this realm that filmmaker Travis Stevens is most comfortable, and the one he presents in "A Wounded Fawn." Stevens' third directed feature is his gnarliest thus far, and bodes well for the kind of original horror movie that fans have clamored for since the first jump scare.
The whole bloody affair of "A Wounded Fawn" concerns jaded museum curator Meredith Tanning (Sarah Lind) who lives out this writer's personal nightmare of jumping back into the dating pool only to find herself in a serial killer's living room.

Shudder has developed a knack for being one of the most well-curated streaming services out there. For as much as other services like Netflix or HBO Max have much more to offer in terms of quantity, to the subscriber, those offerings can feel like a ton of fluff. With Shudder, it is a more targeted, "less is more" approach. But that's not to say they don't have a little something for everyone. Case in point, within a small window of time, they can release a sweet vampire comedy like "Blood Relatives," then turn right around and release one of the weirdest movies of the year with "A Wounded Fawn," which just made its debut on the service.
Hailing from director Travis Stevens ("Jakob's Wife"), "A Wounded Fawn" follows the story of Meredith Tanning (Sarah Lind), a local museum curator who is dipping her toe back into the dating pool, only...

The holiday season is now upon us, and it seems only right that we’re heading into December with a brand new Christmas-themed genre movie arriving in theaters later this week.
I’m of course talking about the David Harbour-starring Violent Night, which features the “Stranger Things” actor as an ass-kicking version of none other than Santa himself.
But that’s not the only new genre movie arriving this week…
Here’s all the new horror headed down the chimney November 28 – December 4, 2022!
This week is all quiet on the horror front until Thursday, December 1, which kicks off with the release of The Harbinger, which has been favorably compared to Nightmare on Elm Street.

In her 4-star Tribeca review, Heather Wixson wrote that Travis Stevens' latest film, A Wounded Fawn, is a "cinematic reckoning with a Greek twist," and ahead of the movie's December 1st release on Shudder, we have a look at the tense trailer featuring co-stars Sarah Lind and Josh Ruben on a weekend getaway that transforms into a surreal and deadly fight for survival.
Directed by Travis Stevens from a screenplay co-written by Stevens and Nathan Faudree, A Wounded Fawn stars Sarah Lind, Josh Ruben, and Malin Barr.
"Inspired by surrealist art and Greek mythology, A Wounded Fawn follows the story of Meredith Tanning, a local museum curator who is dipping her toe back into the dating pool, only to be targeted by a charming serial killer. When a fateful romantic getaway between the two becomes a tense game of cat and mouse, both must confront the madness within him."

A Wounded Fawn Trailer: A Killer Cat-And-Mouse Game With A Surrealist Twist Hits Shudder In December
If you haven't already noticed, Shudder has been on a roll with its original acquisitions this year. From "Mad God" to "Resurrection" and everything else in between, it has proven itself as the premier horror speciality streamer. Now, it looks to add to its increasingly demented collection with Travis Stevens' surrealist rollercoaster "A Wounded Fawn."
You think you might know where this movie is going based on the first half of its new trailer. An obviously creepy man (Josh Ruben) lures an art collector named Meredith (Sarah Lind) to his secluded cabin in the woods. When she realizes that he may have sinister motivations, their dangerous cat-and-mouse game commences. However, there's something much more sinister going on behind this conventional plot, if the bizarre imagery involving demons and snakes throughout the trailer proves anything.

I may not have been a fan of Terrifier 2 (my review is Here), but I was impressed by the work Lauren Lavera did in the lead role, and by the time the end credits started to roll I was convinced that she is a star on the rise. So I’m glad to see that she has already completed work on another genre movie – one that co-stars the great Bill Moseley! The movie is called The Fetus, and our friends at Bloody Disgusting have gotten their hands on a batch of first look images that can also be seen at the bottom of this article.
There isn’t a lot of available information on The Fetus at this time, but we do know that it was written and directed by Joe Lam, with Nathan Faudree and Yuke Li credited as story consultants. The story they were consulted about centers...

Exclusive: Buffalo 8 has struck a 15-million deal with BarBHouse Productions for production, post and distribution on three features. News of the strategic partnership follows the recent Tribeca premiere of BarBHouse’s acclaimed horror feature, A Wounded Fawn. Films to be made under the deal include the horror Mr. Yokai, the psychological thriller Bait and Switch and the fantasy pic Watermark.
Mr. Yokai centers on the addict Ellie, who finds herself in rehab. When a demonic entity named Mr. Yokai begins to hunt down her and her fellow patients, she must fight against her inner demons in order to defeat him. Alex Merkin will direct from A Wounded Fawn scribe Nathan Faudree’s script.

Horror gets a Greek twist in A Wounded Fawn, Travis Stevens’ latest project that features Josh Ruben as a serial killer who gets more than he bargains for when he takes a potential victim away for a planned vacation from hell, but she ends up putting him through the proverbial ringer for his misdeeds. Watching the evolution of Stevens’ career as a filmmaker has been extremely fascinating over the last few years and A Wounded Fawn demonstrates that he’s someone who is looking for new ways to challenge himself as a storyteller. And while I am a fan of both of his previous films, I feel like A Wounded Fawn is easily his most ambitious effort yet in a variety of ways as both Stevens and co-writer Nathan Faudree find some clever ways of twisting our expectations by infusing their slasher story with a heightened sense of mythological surrealism,...

This weekend is supposed to be a rebirth for Meredith (Sarah Lind). After battling the demons of an abusive relationship, she’s accepted an invitation of romantic seclusion from a man (Josh Ruben’s Bruce) she’s just met. Her friends demand to know all the details, but she’s not quite ready to share them. This might just be an isolated yet necessary sexual encounter that ends upon her return to the city. No reason to let him move into her head psychologically or her inner circle prematurely if she’ll just be forgetting about him in short order. That Meredith is willingly allowing this stranger to take her to his cabin in the woods carries more danger in and of itself anyway—a premise screaming monstrous home invasion. Travis Stevens complies.

Are you religious? Why yes, I follow the Necropath.
Necropath is three short films in one, as a grindhouse-style triple-header of stories all set in the same zombie outbreak. Made on a shoestring budget, and with a very lo-fi, student feel to it.
Our first tale kicks off with some of that classic B movie acting where you get the sense the actors have never experienced a real human interaction before. Even though this particular action is sexual in nature. Our unexpected, unappealing, car bound, oral sex is rudely interrupted by some neck slashing from a creepy looking Gollum type. Gollum proceeds to act very intensely, before taking vast quantities of an unspecified drug via injection. He then runs about again forcing a lady to say “get away from me, I...

"Do you see where we are? We're in hell right now!" Gravitas Ventures has released an official trailer for Necropath, a deranged maniacal horror from filmmaker Joshua Reale. The award-winning film, created with the thought of what happens to the movie monsters who wander freely during extreme pandemics, is available to watch on VOD services starting today. A mentally deranged maniac stalks victims to fulfill his drug addiction and sedate psychosis until he becomes the victim of an unexpected invasion of the undead. The film stars Moe Isaac, Nathan Faudree,Cassandra Hayes, Lillian Colvin, Natalie Colvin, and Shain Hence. It looks a bit too low budget and too dark to be good, but maybe some horror fans will dig it. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Joshua Reale's Necropath, direct from YouTube: Encompassing many elements relating to issues today, this Grindhouse-style piece tells of a mysterious virus, plague,...
