The Prodigy changed up the controversial lyrics in their song “Smack My Bitch Up” during a pair of recent performances in London.
Footage captured during their concerts at Alexandra Palace on November 24th and November 25th shows vocalist Maxim repeating the opening lyric, “Change my pitch up,” instead of going into the original second line, “Smack my bitch up.”
The band has yet to comment publicly on the lyric change. Check out fan-shot footage below.
It’s worth noting that the lines, “Change my pitch up/ Smack my bitch up” are directly sampled from the 1988 song “Give the Drummer Some” by Ultramagnetic Mc’s. First appearing on The Prodigy’s 1997 breakout album, The Fat of the Land, “Smack My Bitch Up” has been a source of controversy since its release.

The Recording Academy’s “In Memoriam” section, which traditionally runs towards the end of the Grammy Awards ceremony and honors those in the music industry who died in the previous year, is bound to displease many — as the internet’s ire proves annually. Omissions are to blame: some due to time constraints, others to very recent circumstances, but more than anything, our musician heroes are reaching that certain age, may they all rest in peace.

In 2009, Anders Osborne found himself at rock bottom. He was bankrupt, his house was in foreclosure, his wife had kicked him out, and he couldn’t see his two young kids. His livelihood was playing gigs, but he couldn’t even do that — he’d often show up too drunk or high to perform. “For close to a year, I’d [either] try to find a friend’s couch to sleep on [or] I lived in the park,” says Osborne, a New Orleans-based singer-songwriter who’s collaborated with everyone from Phil Lesh to Tim McGraw.

Keith Flint, frontman of British techno-punk group the Prodigy, was pronounced dead on Monday morning of apparent suicide. Having previously served as the group’s onstage dancer since 1990, Flint debuted his own sneering nihilist style in their 1996 hit “Firestarter,” a high-octane breakbeat masterpiece which would catapult the band to international fame. Its accompanying album, 1997’s The Fat of the Land, hit Number One that summer and was certified double platinum that same year.
Just days before dropping the album, the Prodigy teased their global star power with an explosive headlining set at the U.

After innovating the rave scene in the early 90’s, The Prodigy ventured into the unknown with the groundbreaking Fat Of The Land in ’97. The release marked a new beginning for the group with its very aggressive stance and heavy sonic bombs permeating the landmark album, helping to create an aggressive and violent streak not heard before in the genre.
One of the most understated facets of the band is their incorporation of rock music styles combined with the more obvious electronic direction that the band are most known for, giving them a harder edge that to this day still hasn’t been matched. Acts like Pendulum, Pitchshifter, Chase & Status etc, have all attempted to evolve the genre in the same fiery way but they lack the authentic innovation and seamless melding that made the Essex lot so unique.

"But something like this is truly voted for by the people - and essentially we are nothing without them, so it feels awesome, and really respectful." The latest schlocker from the incontinent makers of Saw is set to hunt you down and bore you to death with its 40 sequels
It's best to deal with this upfront – you'll be hearing a lot about Insidious, probably for many years to come. It's a new horror film brought to you by some of the people behind both Saw and Paranormal Activity, which suggests that Insidious will initially make a lot of money on a tiny budget and then quickly move to sour whatever goodwill it built up by churning out identical sequels every year until the end of time itself.
But before any of that happens, we need to work out what Insidious is actually about. A teaser trailer has just been released, but that doesn't exactly help matters – it's cut together so quickly you'd be hard pushed to glean anything from a normal viewing. If we want answers,...

Universal Pictures are planning some Stephen King action, with a remake of Firestarter, his pyrokinetic horror thriller written in 1980 and filmed by Mark Lester in 1984.Not in the top tier of King novels, Firestarter didn't make for a totally enthralling movie the first time around either, but Universal and the De Laurentiis Co. are nevertheless eyeing little Charlie McGee as the centre of a potential new franchise: "A unique, character-driven thriller with a supernatural edge, based on a timeless concept and enhanced by recent visual effects advances". Lots of 3D CGI fire then. The first film starred Drew Barrymore as Charlie the telekinetic flamethrower, because a small girl who can blow things up and burn people at will was the obvious next move after Et. Freddie Jones, Martin Sheen, Heather Locklear and David Keith headed up the adult cast, along with a ponytailed George C. Scott, and Keith Flint gooning under a bridge.

The Prodigy have joked that they intend to have a major bust-up before starting work on their next studio album. "The next album will probably be recorded while we are still on tour, but first we need to have a bust-up," Liam Howlett told the Daily Star. "We are jiving and putting little one-liners towards each other at the minute," Keith Flint added. "Then on Thursday I'll leave Liam a really nasty voicemail in the early hours just to start the paranoia going. "We'll (more)...

Liam Howlett and Keith Flint have criticised the Mercury Prize for ignoring the opinions of music fans. The band were nominated for the award in 1994 for their second album Music For The Jilted Generation, but this year's Invaders Must Die was not shortlisted by the panel. Speaking about the annual prize at the Kerrang! Awards, Howlett told BBC 6 Music: "It's got nothing to do with the public. It's to do with a panel of people that always opt for the most obscure thing. I think we should have been nominated this year." (more)...

The Prodigy have vowed never to perform on TV. The dance music group's leader Liam Howlett doesn't think the atmosphere of a studio recorded show suits his band's spontaneous style of performance. He said: "We'll never perform on TV - that's just watering it down." His bandmate, vocalist Maxim Reality, added: "TV's not real to us. Being in front of 250 people cordoned into a studio, told where to dance - it's not a real performance." Keith Flint, 40, the band's other vocalist, explained the audience is an integral part of Prodigy's live experience, and helps turn their shows into an "explosion". He said: "We suck off the crowd and spit it back. They ignite and we're the...

Prodigy star Keith Flint "doesn't give a f**k" about getting to number one. Prodigy scored their first UK number one album since 2004 with 'Invaders Must Die' this month - but the group's vocalist is more interested in the reaction to their live show. Keith said: "For me, I don't give a f**k. I don't give a s**t. For me the moment, was going on stage in Australia at the Big Day Out festival this year and seeing the old tunes working so well with the new ones, and the people being there for that new sound. "They get it. That's my reward. That's fulfilling for me, whereas a fact or a figure isn't tangible, you know?"...

The Prodigy have revealed that they once recorded the soundtrack to a porn movie. The band admitted that their music was included in a 1999 film that featured the world's first gravity-defying orgasm. "It was called The Uranus Experiment and it was the first zero-gravity porn film!" Liam Howlett told Nuts. "You know the planes they use to train astronauts? They take them up to the curvature of the earth, then plummet really fast, and it gives the astronauts zero gravity for about three minutes," Keith Flint added. "They filmed (more)...

Keith Flint has said that he would never appear on a reality television show, no matter how bad his financial situation. The dancer and singer told The Guardian that he had been approached by "absolutely all" reality programmes and that he had turned them all down. He also criticised Sex Pistol John Lydon for appearing on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here. Flint said: "Even if [The Prodigy] (more)...

The Prodigy have insisted that they know what is current in music and have said that they are as good as they have ever been. Vocalist Maxim Reality admitted that in the past complacency had been a problem with the band, and they had to return to the basics to re-ignite their hunger. He told The Guardian that Liam Howlett had made the right decision in recording their previous studio album without him or singer-dancer Keith Flint and the band now know what they are about. Maxim said: "We (more)...
