With some of the most incredible storylines and characters, the franchise has become home to several talented actors and actresses, bringing to life countless fan-favorite superheroes. Going from being the cool kid in the class to wrestling with some serious issues, the superhero universe gradually began crumbling after the exit of familiar faces like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. But according to fans, that wasn’t the actual issue.

Joe Locke, the breakout star of “Heartstopper,” has always had dreams of being on Broadway. Now, at just 20 years old, the British actor has made his Broadway debut as Tobias Ragg in the Tony-nominated revival of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
After his first performance in late January, he posted photos and video of himself from the show with the caption, “Little Joe would be happy rn.” His “Heartstopper” co-star Kit Connor and music superstar Olivia Rodrigo were among those who messaged their congratulations in the comment section.
“It’s very pinch-me all the time, which is great,” Locke says on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “But every night I’m like, ‘What am I doing?’ – in the best way.”
Locke acted in amateur stage productions until he was about 15 in an old Victorian theater in his native Isle of Man. “The...

Just five years ago, Marvel Studios appeared to be unstoppable. As The Hollywood Reporter puts it in a new write-up, they “had steadily been generating box office gold” with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the studio’s “Infinity Saga” culminating, after eleven years of build-up, with the release of Avengers: Endgame – a film that became the highest-grossing movie of all time (for a while). But then Disney asked Marvel to “scale up in an unprecedented way”, expanding into TV series and animation, “with the goal of the MCU becoming a place with a seemingly endless procession of year-round releases.” Now Disney and Marvel have had to admit that the task was too unwieldy to sustain. Not only have fans complained about a decline in quality in the last couple years, but Marvel projects have also started underperforming. Things got rough in 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania turning out to...

Netflix Polish films are a mixed bag of content. There are movies in the last year and one before that is borderline creepy and obscene, as in 365 Days and 365 Days: This Day. Delivery by Christmas, on the other hand, is a slice of a life story set around the holiday season. Kill Me If You Dare is a bizarre film that tells the story of a couple who won the lottery and are wondering how to spend it. Directed by Filip Zylber, the Polish romance thriller film was released on February 13, 2024, on Netflix.
Kill Me If You Dare is just over one hour and thirty minutes, and it begins with Piotr and Natalia getting engaged in the most romantic fashion. A few years later, both are financially struggling as a married couple, and they have begun to detest each other. Piotr is constantly worried about why Natalia cannot understand him anymore.

Key highlights this February on the essential, alternative streaming service Arrow include a second season of films from the legendary Brazilian director José Mojica Marins, a devilish double-bill from Spanish director Álex de la Iglesia, a season of wonderfully weird short films, Valentine’s Day done Arrow-style, and much more.
In February, Arrow presents a season of bite-sized shocks in the form of the very best wild and weird short films, including Smile, the extraordinarily imaginative and disturbing award-winning short from director Joanna Tsanis; as well as The Wyrm of Bwlch Pen Barras, a Welsh language folk horror film about modern Wales, rooted in the country’s rich mythology, shot on 16mm and featuring a score by Cian Ciaran and Dafydd Ieuan from The Super Furry Animals; and ab adaptation of the famous short story by W.W. ‘WandaVision’ stands as one of Disney+’s top-rated shows, praised for its original take on Wanda’s post-blip life and emotional struggles. The introduction of compelling characters inevitably led to spinoffs, with the White Vision project and rumors of a Wiccan show gaining traction.
One particularly anticipated project is ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries,’ centered around the WandaVision villain, set to release in 2024. Despite teasers and details about the plot and Witches’ Road circulating, the primary focus remains on whether Wanda will make a cameo in ‘Agatha,’ even if a brief one.
Asif Ali, who portrayed Norm in ‘WandaVision,’ initially confirmed Wanda’s appearance in a now-deleted Instagram comment, creating a buzz among fans. However, subsequent statements from Scarlet Witch Updates on Twitter contradicted this, asserting that Wanda won’t be part of the upcoming show in any capacity.

‘WandaVision’ is one of the highest-rated Disney+ shows. The original and unique approach to Wanda’s post-blip life and emotional trauma was well-received by the fans, and some of the characters introduced during the shows inevitably got their own spinoffs. White Vision project has been in the works for some time now, with rumors about the Wiccan show also resurfacing in recent times.
However, one of the most hype-worthy projects appears to be ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ focusing on WandaVision villain, scheduled to release sometime in 2024. Recently, a teaser dropped, and we keep hearing a lot of details about the plot and the Witches’ Road, but among all these details, the main one seems to be whether Wanda will make an appearance in ‘Agatha,’ albeit a small one.

Kathryn Hahn is reprising her role of Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries on Disney+.
With the Blu-Ray release of WandaVision, Marvel Studios snuck a little preview of the spinoff where Hahn and creators tease the making of the series.
Jac Schaeffer, head writer and executive producer, said she talked to Marvel about developing something else and revealed that everything that she pitched “included a storyline about Agatha.”
“I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?'” Schaeffer recalled.
“The character is so deep and heartfelt and dangerous,” co-executive producer Mary Livanos said. “Continuing the story of Agatha and getting to know her more was immediately an imperative for us as creatives. There would be nothing more delicious to Agatha Harkness than to be in a spinoff.”

The first Marvel / Disney+ series WandaVision is getting a collector’s edition Blu-ray release tomorrow (you can order a copy Here) – and apparently a featurette that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the spin-off / follow-up Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (which was formerly known as Agatha: House of Harkness and then Agatha: Coven of Chaos) is included in the extras! Agatha isn’t expected to start streaming on the Disney+ service until the early fall of 2024 – possibly on September 19, 2024 – so this featurette gets the marketing started quite early.
Some fans have already received their WandaVision Blu-rays and decided to share the featurette on X:

After all this time, can fans still keep hope alive for WandaVision Season 2?
While WandaVision premiered nearly four years ago, many are still itching to see the Elizabeth Olsen-led series get a proper continuation. Though, when the project first aired, it was treated like a limited series—and following her role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the character is currently believed to be dead.
Kathryn Hahn will be returning as Agatha in a starring role in the WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, set to premiere on Disney+ in Fall 2024. While the project will continue Westview’s story and some of its residents, the company doesn't seem to be considering it as WandaVision Season 2.

This article contains spoilers for Loki season 2, WandaVision, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Trying to understand how time and the multiverse work in Marvel after Loki season 2 is headache-inducing, even for someone who has kept up with the MCU since its creation. Each project has had its own methods and means for introducing new characters and worlds from outside of the “Sacred Timeline,” but the season 2 finale sees them all come together somewhat as Loki (Tom Hiddleston) takes control of the Temporal Loom and its branches, forming a multiversal Yggdrasil.
But because Tva exists in a realm outside of time, it’s not clear when this climactic moment takes place in comparison to the events of WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and now The Marvels. Does Loki become the guardian of the timeline before all of these multiversal stories? After?...

This post contains spoilers for The Marvels.
Let’s be honest, it’s tough times for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After mixed bag misfire Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania led into the utterly dismal waste of time that was Secret Invasion, the MCU no longer demands the attention it enjoyed before Avengers: Endgame. Not even the excellent Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or the really good second season of Loki seems to restore confidence.
All of which puts a lot of pressure on The Marvels, the last MCU movie released this year. The Marvels may be a sequel to the box office-breaking Captain Marvel, as well as great MCU Disney+ shows WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, but it’s tracking for a remarkably low opening, and one can sense the desperation in the final trailer for The Marvels. The emphasis in the marketing on extended universe stuff does a disservice...

Bodies, episode 3 opened with the 1890 timeline when Di Hillinghead was returning home with his family from a ceremony, and on the way, Henry met with him. Hillinghead asked his family to head back home without him and joined Henry Ashe for further investigation into the dead body found on Longharvest Lane. Henry and Hillinghead went to the spot to look for any bullet markings or anything that would be useful for their investigation. They found a hexagonal bullet hole, which indicated that the shooter must have used a rare and expensive bullet, which suggested their class and social status. Henry informed Hillinghead that he might know this mysterious guy in the photograph and took him to the Harker House, where Julian Harker and his mother, Lady Agatha, were at their doorstep, saying goodbye to some of their friends. Hillinghead recognized that Julian Harker was the one whose reflection was captured in the photograph.

The latest comedy thriller, A Deadly Invitation, streaming on Netflix, revolves around a high-class murder mystery that introduces us to a weird series of events. The movie centers on Agatha, the protagonist and the half-sister of the deceased, who digs up the real cause of her sister’s death and unveils other evils. Regina Blandon tries to do justice to the character, but the weak and complicated storyline restricts her capacity as an actor. The director, Manuel Cavioto, could have taken a better shot at exploring the character’s past and present, but he chose not to, making the depiction half-cooked.

It’s the season of murder mysteries, and the new one is coming straight from Mexico. Directed by José Manuel Cravioto, A Deadly Invitation is soon to be released for the viewer’s enjoyment. This film has stars from the Mexican film industry and is promising to be a great whodunit. Filmmakers have had their own views about this genre since the beginning of time. Some have deliberately distanced themselves from it, as the template a unit has to follow cannot deviate from the strict norm. Some love this genre as it is entertaining, and people are hooked right till the end to know who the killer was among the suspects. A Deadly Invitation, apart from its title, seems like it has deep understanding and respect for the genre, and perhaps it might expand the genre like Knives Out did some years ago.

“Haunting in Venice” screenwriter Michael Green has adapted three of Agatha Christie’s works at this point. But for his latest venture, the folks at the Christie estate took pause when they discovered which novel he wanted to adapt.
“He [Green] first talked to me about doing something with ‘Hallowe’en Party’ quite a long time ago,” said James Prichard, chairman and CEO of the Christie estate, referring to the 1969 novel that was the basis of “Haunting in Venice.” Unlike the film, which follows detective Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) as he investigates the death of a young girl at a Venice palazzo, “Hallowe’en Party” was very different, in both plot and characters.
For Green, he knew it was a tough sell. “I remember the conversation because I could see the look in his [Prichard’s] eye where he’s desperate to be polite, but also doesn’t understand what I’m saying,...

Agatha Christie was the master of the perfectly constructed mystery; Oscar winner Hildur Guðnadóttir is an avant-garde cellist-composer. Yet the two meet to spine-tingling results for Kenneth Branagh’s third Hercule Poirot mystery, “A Haunting in Venice,” a loose adaptation of Christie’s “Hallowe’en Party.”
As it turns out, there’s a very good reason why Guðnadóttir might find pleasure in Christie’s work. “My grandmother, who was one of the first women doctors in Iceland and a brilliant virologist, always said that the only way to get a tiny break from your mind is to read a good detective novel or crime story,” Guðnadóttir told IndieWire.
“So, since I was very young, I have lived by this advice,” Guðnadóttir said. “And I have always wanted to sink my teeth into an Agatha Christie adaptation. When Ken approached me about this one, he was really clear from the get-go...

Kenneth Branagh’s second Agatha Christie film Death on the Nile, did not have a smooth ride. Its release was delayed several times due to first Disney buying the studio that made the film, 20th Century Fox, and then the Covid pandemic, and its cast turned out to be a Pandora’s Box of, at best, bad PR and at worst, criminal allegations.
Back in 2020 then, when Branagh was filming his autobiographically inspired family drama, Belfast, a third Hercule Poirot film wasn’t necessarily a given. Though Agatha Christie’s estate and Branagh were keen to make further sequels to 2017 hit Murder on the Orient Express, the next Christie movie had yet to be greenlit.
That uncertainty inspired Branagh to tuck a Poirot Easter Egg into Belfast as “an offering to the gods,” as he told The Hollywood Reporter. “They can tell us, in the end, if we’ll be allowed to make it.

Kenneth Branagh is back once again as Detective Hercule Poirot in a brand new Agatha Christie adaptation. "A Haunting in Venice" is the third interpretation of Christie's work by Branagh in the past several years, with the actor and director taking on a lesser-known book by the author for a more overtly horror-driven tale. With a stacked A-list cast that includes the likes of Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Michelle Yeoh, this is one of the most star-studded films of the fall season.
Following 2017's "Murder on the Orient Express" and 2022's "Death on the Nile," this latest Poirot mystery is set in post-World War II Venice on All Hallows' Eve. Now retired and living in exile in the one of world's most glamorous cities, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is once again thrust into the world...

The whodunit is back.
At least that seems to be the case in recent years with the success of Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot movies—the third one, A Haunting in Venice, hits theaters this week—Rian Johnson’s Knives Out thrillers, and even TV shows like Only Murders in the Building. But according to someone who should know, the great-grandson of legendary murder mystery writer Agatha Christie, the classic detective story subgenre has never quite gone away.
“I would say that the movie industry came to the game late,” says James Prichard, a man who is not only Christie’s descendant but also the chairman and CEO of Agatha Christie Ltd., which manages the literary and media rights to his great-grandmother’s works. “We’ve never gone away, we’ve been making stuff all through the last 10, 20, 30 years. But we didn’t make a movie for a very long time.

Murder mysteries, particularly those of the Agatha Christie variety, tend to be feasts for actors, affording them the chance to play colorful, eccentric, and often more than a little bit sleazy characters who may or may not like to dabble in homicide on the side. Such was the case with director Kenneth Branagh's first two films in his Hercule Poirot cinematic universe, "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile." For his third go at adapting Christie's super-sleuth for the big screen, "A Haunting in Venice," Branagh has once again surrounded himself (and his ginormous curly mustache) as Poirot with a cast that represents the cream of the crop when it comes to character actors working today.
"A Haunting in Venice" (you can read /Film's review here) adapts one of Christie's lesser-known Poirot novels, "Hallowe'en Party," in order to put something of a horror-tinged spin on your average Poirot adventure.

For the most part, the stories in The Conjuring Universe are remembered as ghosts and hauntings, despite the fact that demons and possessions are very much embedded in the DNA of "The Conjuring," "Annabelle," and "The Nun" films. One of the MCU’s most beloved characters, Groot, has returned to the small screen once again as the second season of the animated short series I am Groot has been released on Disney+. If a series were centered on any other B-tier character of any other existing MCU IP (read Agatha), I would have gone on a rant about the MCU overexploiting its characters, but Groot is special, even among the ragtag ensemble known as The Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, unsurprisingly, the only two good ventures the MCU has released this year are based on characters from Guardians of the Galaxy, the first being the final, third installment of the movie series, and the second being this compilation of shorts we are going to discuss.

The upcoming Disney+ MCU series ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ is still roughly a year away after the latest round of delays, but it has already become unique for something that never happened in the history of the MCU. When the series was first announced in 2021, the official title was ‘Agatha: House of Harkness.’ However, at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige revealed a new title: ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos,’ and the series was recently retitled again to ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.’
This isn’t the first time that Marvel Studios changed the title of already announced projects; ‘The Marvels,’ which is set to open in theaters this November, was initially announced simply as ‘Captain Marvel 2,’ and the fourth ‘Captain America’ movie was officially announced last year as ‘Captain America: New World Order,’ before the title was changed earlier this year to ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ However, it never happened...

As the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue following the failure of the AMPTP to negotiate a fair, non-exploitative contract with either union, the entire entertainment industry has been in flux. Writers went pencils (or Final Draft) down, ensuring no new films or series would have union talent, and not only are actors not performing already-written scripts, but they're also not appearing on press tours, promotional events, or premieres for already-completed projects. It cannot be overstated how vital celebrity interviews can be to the success of a film. "Barbie" recently became one of the highest-grossing movies, ever, and while that success was not single-handedly due to the press tour, all of those bonkers Ryan Gosling press clips certainly didn't hurt.
Because of this, the release dates of movies and TV shows, even ones that are already completed, have been delayed because the studios know they need the support of the talent involved,...

Uh-oh… has someone put a hex on Disney+’s Agatha-centered WandaVision spinoff?
The spinoff, with Kathryn Hahn reprising her WandaVision role as the witchy villainess, was originally supposed to debut later this year, but it has now been delayed until early fall 2024, timed to the Halloween season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (A source has confirmed the news to TVLine.) For those of you who are keeping score at home, it’s also now on its third title: Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, replacing the previous title Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which in turn replaced the original Agatha: House of Harkness.
