Rene Russo has signed on to co-star in the remake of Yours, Mine and Ours for Paramount Pictures and MGM. Paramount has set a November release date for the project with MGM handling foreign distribution. Russo will play opposite Dennis Quaid in the remake, taking on the role played by Lucille Ball in the original. That film revolved around two divorcees who join forces, along with their eight and 10 kids, respectively. Raja Gosnell is directing the project, which is being produced by Robert Simonds. Gosnell's producing partner, Richard Suckle, also will be involved in a production capacity. The project was written by Ron Burch, David Kidd, Bob Hilgenberg and Rob Muir. Elizabeth Ingold and Erik Baiers are overseeing for MGM with Karen Rosenfelt overseeing for Paramount. Russo is represented by CAA and managed by John Crosby.

German helmer Katja von Garnier is in negotiations to direct MGM's upcoming werewolf flick, Blood and Chocolate. Von Garnier, who directed the 1997 hit Bandits, comes to the project after Rupert Wainwright dropped out in December to direct Revolution Studios' remake of John Carpenter's classic horror film, The Fog. Based on a script by Ehren Kruger, Blood and Chocolate is being co-financed and co-produced by Lakeshore whose Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing. Daniel Bobker and Kruger also are producing. Elizabeth Ingold and Stephanie Palmer are overseeing the project for the studio. The feature is based on the book by Annette Curtis Klause and is set in a secret society of werewolves living in a modern day society. At the center of the tale is a romance between a female werewolf and a human. Von Garnier first made her mark with the German language Making Up! in 1993. Last year she directed HBO's TV movie Iron Jawed Angels. Von Garnier is repped by CAA.

Comedy writing duo Bob Hilgenberg and Rob Muir have sold the pitch Infantile to MGM for mid-six against high-six figures, sources said. The pitch, to be produced by Catherine Paura, Joe Farrell and Josie Rosen, is described as a high-concept comedy for a male actor. At MGM, executive vp production Elizabeth Ingold and director of creative affairs Erik Baiers are overseeing. The deal follows on the heels of the writing job Hilgenberg and Muir did for MGM and Paramount on Yours, Mine & Ours, which is being produced by Robert Simonds. Following scripting duties on the new pitch, Hilgenberg and Muir have been tapped to do a Page 1 rewrite on San Antonio for Antonio Banderas' Green Monkey Prods. and Fox Searchlight Pictures, sources said. The writers are repped by Sandy Weinberg at the Summit Agency. Their other projects include Father Knows Best at Nickelodeon and Paramount, Scared Guys at Columbia Pictures and Doubting Thomas at Bill Mechanic's Pandemonium.

Rupert Wainwright is fast becoming a staple at MGM. The Stigmata director has signed on to direct the werewolf fllm Blood and Chocolate. He also is attached to direct the studio's big-screen adaptation of The Outer Limits. Meanwhile, Lakeshore has come on board to co-finance and co-produce Blood, which is based on the book by Annette Curtis Klause and set in a secret society of werewolves living in modern-day society. The story revolves around the romance between a female werewolf and a human. Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi will produce alongside Daniel Bobker (The Brothers Grimm). Ehren Kruger (The Ring), who wrote the script for Blood, will serve as an executive producer. Elizabeth Ingold and Stephanie Palmer are overseeing for the studio. Wainwright has been directing pilots, music videos and commercials and was in talks with a variety of studios on a number of feature projects following his strong performance with Stigmata, which opened at $18.1 million. His other directing credits include The Sadness of Sex and Blank Check. Wainwright is repped by UTA.

Hyde Park Entertainment has set up the romantic comedy The Other End of the Line at MGM. Based on an original screenplay by Tracey Jackson, the film centers on a beautiful credit card phone operator who lives in India but pretends to be American to her callers. The girl travels to the United States without telling her family in order to meet a New York man that she's met over the phone. Problems arise when they meet in San Francisco, and she decides not to reveal her true identity. The film is out to directors. Hyde Park is producing, with Elizabeth Ingold and Pete Chiarelli overseeing for the studio. Ashok Amritraj is CEO and chairman of Hyde Park; Jon Jashni is president. Recent credits for the MGM-based shingle include Walking Tall and the boxoffice hit Bringing Down the House. The company's projects include Raising Helen, starring Kate Hudson, which Buena Vista is releasing today, and the upcoming Disney project Shopgirl, starring Steve Martin.

Kate Kondell, who penned the screenplay for Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, has signed on to adapt Don't Tell My Mother for Jennifer Klein's MGM-based Apartment 3B Prods. Klein, who set up a two-year, first-look deal at the studio in October, acquired the Richard Parker novel in November. The story revolves around a first-rate magazine editor who is forced to work for a lowly porn mag while keeping the fact from his mother and the love of his life. Pete Chiarelli, who brought the project to the studio, and Elizabeth Ingold are overseeing for MGM. Other projects in the works at 3B include F+, an urban classroom comedy, and Truce, a World War I drama that Klein will produce for Warner Independent Pictures. Kondell also was one of the writers on 20th Century Fox/Regency Enterprises' upcoming First Daughter, starring Katie Holmes and directed by Forest Whitaker. Kondell is repped by UTA and Management 360.

Producer-director Irwin Winkler, who is putting the finishing touches on his Cole Porter musical De-lovely, will turn to a study of sibling rivalry for his next film. He is in final negotiations to direct Man on Third for MGM. Based on Columbus Slaughters Braves, the debut novel from writer Mark Friedman, Man focuses on the relationship between two brothers. One is a successful Major League Baseball player, the other a scientist who lives in his shadow. Friedman has adapted the screenplay. Winkler, David Ladd, Rob Cowan and Charles Winkler will produce with Elizabeth Ingold and Erik Baiers overseeing for the studio. MGM is looking to shoot early next year for an end-of-year release date. Helmer Shawn Levy, a college friend of Friedman's, was previously attached to the long-gestating project. Man will mark Winkler's seventh directorial outing. His latest effort, De-lovely, is set to be unveiled as the closing-night film at the upcoming Festival de Cannes. Winkler's other directing credits include At First Sight and Life as a House. Winkler is repped by CAA, while Friedman is repped by UTA.

MGM has snapped up Josh A. Cagan's spec Gotta Dance, plunking down $300,000 against $650,000. Walter Hamada, Chris Fenton and Jonathan Hung of H2F Entertainment are attached to produce. The story, described as a broad comedic male version of Flashdance, centers on an overweight construction worker who finds out that he is the long-lost son of the greatest ballet dancer in history. He is torn between his blue-collar macho world and the life of a ballet dancer when he's called upon to save his late mother's dance company. Overseeing the project are MGM's Erik Baiers and Elizabeth Ingold. The script sale is Cagan's second spec sale in as many weeks; he sold his first feature, Will, to Revolution with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas producing. New York-based Cagan wrote for the MTV animated series Undergrads. He is repped by Paradigm, H2F and Colden, McKuin and Frankel.

MGM has picked up Richard Parker's manuscript Don't Tell My Mother for studio-based producer Jennifer Klein, who recently signed a first-look deal with the studio. The project, brought into the studio by MGM creative executive Pete Chiarelli, centers on an acclaimed magazine editor who is forced to work for the third-rate porn mag Thruster. He then must find a way to turn the magazine around in order to save his career but in the process keep the scandalous career a secret from his family and the woman of his dreams. Klein will produce through her Apartment 3B Prods. MGM executive vp production Elizabeth Ingold is overseeing for the studio along with Chiarelli. The manuscript, which has yet to sell to a publishing house, is out to writers to adapt for the big screen. Parker's deal was brokered by Agent Scott Miller at the Trident Media Group. Before her MGM-based production company, Klein was co-president of Mutual Film Co. Mother marks the first project for Klein to produce for MGM under her 3B banner.

Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star/executive producer Jeff Garlin and Jane Lynch of Best in Show fame are packing their bags for MGM's Sleepover. The project, due to start shooting Tuesday, will see Garlin and Lynch play the father and mother of Alexa Vega's character in the Joe Nussbaum-directed film. The project centers on a group of girls during the summer before high school. As one girl prepares to move out of town, her best friend (Vega) throws a slumber party for her and their friends the same night the cool chicks have their own overnighter. Bob Cooper and Chuck Weinstock are producing from a script by Elisa Bell. At MGM, the project is being overseen by Elizabeth Ingold and Stephanie Palmer. Garlin is part of the Emmy-nominated producing team of Curb, which was up for a best comedy series trophy at Sunday's ceremony. He most recently starred on the big screen in Revolution Studios/Columbia Pictures' Daddy Day Care. He is repped by ICM and 3 Arts Entertainment. Lynch most recently starred in A Mighty Wind, the third installment of the Christopher Guest-Eugene Levy collaboration that previously produced Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. She is currently filming the indie The Californians. Lynch is repped by Halpern Management.

Fresh from the success of Dimension Films' Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Alexa Vega is packing her bags to join MGM's Sleepover. The Joe Nussbaum-directed comedy, which was just greenlighted, is due to begin lensing Sept. 29 in Los Angeles. The project revolves around a group of young girls the summer before they make the leap to high school. As one girl prepares to move out of town, her best friend (Vega) throws a slumber party for her and their friends the same night as the "popular girls" have their own overnight soiree. A competitive scavenger hunt ensues between the two parties, with a special prize for the winners: dibs on the best table in the high school lunchroom. Bob Cooper and Chuck Weinstock are producing from a script by Elisa Bell. At MGM, the project is being overseen by Elizabeth Ingold and Stephanie Palmer. Vega stars in all three installments of Spy Kids. Her other credits include the television series Ladies Man and films The Deep End of the Ocean and Ghosts of Mississippi. Vega is repped by SDB Partners and manager Gina Rue.
