Francis Ford Coppola has finally finished his magnum opus Megalopolis. The filmmaker’s self-funded sci-fi epic has reportedly been in the making since the ‘80s and the Apocalypse Now director finally got to revive it a few years ago. However, the film has a huge obstacle to pass through as prominent studios are reportedly not interested in giving a distribution deal.
Coppola’s epic has reportedly been avoided like the plague by major Hollywood studios, who allegedly do not see commercial potential in it. Though the film has names such as Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, and Audrey Plaza attached to it, there seem to be no takers. After a recent screening, fans have been reportedly campaigning for studios to give the film a wide release.

Adam Driver is an actor who has appeared in numerous roles in many movies, which include Lincoln (2012), Frances Ha (2012), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), BlacKkKlansman (2018), Marriage Story (2019), The Last Duel (2021), House of Gucci (2021), and Ferrari (2023), but one role stands out among mainstream fans, which is what of Kylo Ren, or Ben Solo, from the Star Wars franchise. And while the sequel trilogy was more clumsy than perfect, even ridiculous at times, Driver’s performance has been praised and Kylo Ren is still considered as one of the trilogy’s most important characters.
And while Kylo Ren died in the films, we have seen that Star Wars characters can – more or less miraculously – reappear in the series, as was the case with Darth Maul and Palpatine, so why not Kylo Ren? The actor was recently asked about the possibility of returning to the role of Kylo Ren, and we will reveal what he said.

Four decades after Francis Ford Coppola began thinking about his sci-fi epic “Megalopolis,” cinephiles are closer than ever to seeing the finished product on the big screen. After years of studio rejections, Coppola opted to self-finance a large portion of the $100 million movie, which filmed in Atlanta in 2022 and 2023 with a cast that includes Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Nathalie Emmanuel, Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, Shia Labeouf, Jason Schwartzman, and Dustin Hoffman.
While few specifics are known about the film’s plot, it is believed to take place in a futuristic city modeled after the Roman Empire and follow an architect named Caesar (Driver) who struggles to balance his idealism with the pragmatic demands of his peers. “Megalopolis” is certain to be one of the most anticipated premieres at whatever film festival ends up landing it, but any film lovers hoping for more concrete details might have to wait until they see it for themselves.

There probably aren’t too many movie fans that aren’t looking forward to Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, his passion project that is decades in the making. And while we have gotten a lot of news in terms of plot, casting, title design, and more, it still feels sort of surreal that Megalopolis will finally be released later this year. But if we want any further details about what to expect, one of its stars, Adam Driver, can only tease.
Driver, who plays a character named Caesar in Megalopolis, described the film as such: “It’s kind of undefinable, which feels very general until you watch the movie. Then my answer will be perfect. There’s not a lot of precedent for it and it’s wild on a big scale, which is what’s really unique about it.” That’s not a whole lot but that Driver suggests...

Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola is finally getting to make his most ambitious project Megalopolis. The filmmaker had taken to social media to explain the journey behind making his dream project, which has reportedly been in development since the ‘80s. The film stars Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Forest Whitaker, Aubrey Plaza, and Jon Voight.
While Megalopolis is slated to release later this year, its production woes have plagued it since its announcement. However, the Apocalypse Now filmmaker’s vision has been validated by lead actor Adam Driver, who recently revealed that the film had shaped up well and described it as ‘undefinable’.

When it was released back in 1995, Michael Mann’s film Heat became a global hit. This action thriller starring acting legends Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, as well as then-upcoming actor Val Kilmer, was one of the biggest films of the decade and has become a pillar of the genre. Although Mann had already been an established director by then, Heat further cemented his place in the history of cinema, making him one of the most important creators in the history.
Mann had a relatively long “dry streak” after 2009’s Public Enemies (Blackhat is basically a forgotten movie), to use this term, before last year’s Ferrari was released to solid reviews, with praise directed at Driver’s performance. His return to the spotlight also reignited rumors about a possible sequel to Heat, something that Hollywood has been gossiping about for some time, with Heat 2 becoming a more palpable possibility at the time.

With Gal Gadot no longer returning to play Wonder Woman following DC’s regime change, it remains to be seen who will James Gunn look up to fill her boots in the new Dcu. And with no solo Wonder Woman movie in sight, as of now, it can’t be said for certain when the demigoddess will appear, but this hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about potential actors to play Diana.
Not unfamiliar with working in superhero stuff before, Bloodshot Star Eiza Gonzalez has previously teased fans about her love for the Princess of Themyscira. And following her recent comment under James Gunn’s post, many are led to believe she might be the one to replace Gadot in the iconic role.

There will be no “Wednesday” dances, no “Barbenheimer” couples costumes, Lydia Tár cosplay, or “The Idol” sleaze on full display this Halloween — at least, not for actors, that is.
The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike rules issued new guidelines for October 31 celebrations, with the union prohibiting members from dressing up as characters from content that has not received a waiver, per The Hollywood Reporter. Guess all the “Ferrari,” “Priscilla,” and “Eileen” costumes are a-go, however — as those films have received waivers from the guild — drumming up more publicity for indies as a silver lining.
IndieWire has reached out to SAG-AFTRA for comment.
Of course, actors can cosplay however they’d like so long as they do not post on social media, which would be considered promotion of struck content, even if the aforementioned actor does not star in the project they are “promoting” by way of dressing up.

Italians and fast cars simply go together like, well, Italians and pasta. Or like Italians and wine. Basically, Italians have cornered the market in all the world's coolest stuff, is what I'm saying. That certainly holds true for "Ferrari," director Michael Mann's production about the man responsible for building the most prolific and widely-admired car manufacturer ever based in that little boot-shaped country. Mann fans have been looking forward to the acclaimed filmmaker's take on the story of Enzo Ferrari for quite some time now, especially since the stylistic storyteller knows exactly how to make all the most dangerous pursuits look impossibly cool -- even as they function as cautionary tales, at the same time.
"Ferrari" sure seems to be of a piece with the rest of Mann's filmography to this point, boasting one heck of a talented actor in the lead role along with all the daring action...

“What was so interesting to me about it was the compression of all the dynamics of these tempestuous lives in three months,” explained director Michael Mann about what drew him to the true story in “Ferrari.” And “the more specific one got into that culture and these people and their psyche, I think the more universal the whole picture became.” “Ferrari” was selected as the closing night film at the 61st New York Film Festival, which concluded on October 15. Watch his NYFF press conference with actors Adam Driver, Penelope Cruz and Gabriel Leone above.

Another year, another film where Adam Driver plays a major figure in modern Italian history. In "Ferrari," he takes on the role of Enzo Ferrari, father of one of the most prestigious car manufacturers in Italy, as he struggles to navigate an uncertain future for his company as well as difficulties in his personal relationships. Michael Mann brings his trademark ability to blend pathos and action to the film, equally adept at capturing the high drama of racing and the deeper emotional interpersonal complications. Driver offers a steely, commanding performance in the lead role, but it is Penelope Cruz's devastating performance as his wife Laura that walks away with the film.

The upcoming biographical drama film ‘Ferrari’, directed by Michael Mann and starring Adam Driver as the legendary Italian car maker Enzo Ferrari, has secured an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA, the union representing film and television actors, to allow its cast to promote the movie during the ongoing strike12.

Filming has wrapped on the latest film from director Francis Ford Coppola, his epic “Megalopolis” starring Adam Driver. The film announced the news on the production wrap with a new Instagram account along with a photo of a truly mega-sized clapboard featuring the film’s title.
That puts a pin in what is hopefully no more drama for the film, which back in January was the subject of a media report that described the shoot as being in chaos after the departure of several of the film’s key creative talent. But both Coppola and Driver pushed back hard on that report, putting out media statements that painted “Megalopolis” as one of the finest experiences of Driver’s career. “Apocalypse Now” this was not, they argued.

Seven months ago, it was announced that Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper) had signed on to star in Ash, a sci-fi thriller from rapper and filmmaker Flying Lotus, a.k.a. Steven Ellison. But Thompson and Gordon-Levitt have since moved on from the project, and Deadline reports that they have been replaced by Eiza González (Baby Driver) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad).
González will be playing a woman who wakes on a far-flung planet to find her crew mysteriously murdered. When a man (Paul) comes to investigate the scene, she must decide if she can trust him or if he’s responsible for her series of unfortunate events.
Flying Lotus is directing the film from a screenplay by Jonni Remmler and will also be composing the score. XYZ Films and Gfc Films are producing Ash, with Neill Blomkamp and Echo Lake serving as executive producers.

Adam Driver has made a name for himself as one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. However, before becoming a famous actor, Driver served in the Marine Corps for several years. In a recent interview, the Logan Lucky star dispelled a common myth about military service and shared his experiences as a former serviceman.
Adam Driver joined the military after September 11
There are lots of actors who have put their acting careers on hold to serve their country. This was most noticeable during World War II, but it has happened in every war since then. One example is Driver, who joined the United States Marine Corps at 18 after the September 11 attack. The Marriage Story star served for over two years as a Mortar man with the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, before being medically discharged due to injuries sustained in a mountain biking accident.

Star of the new film 65 Adam Driver is a major celebrity who is well known for his work in blockbusters as well as independent movies. Following his big breakout role as Adam Sackler in the HBO series Girls, he landed the leading role of Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel series. Over the past few years, Driver has consistently chosen interesting roles, working with maverick directors and often playing real-life figures. While Driver is a certified movie star now, he actually began his career in television. And in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, he discussed how he spent his first acting paycheck.

Adam Driver has become a household name in Hollywood in recent years, with his memorable roles in popular movies such as the Star Wars series and Marriage Story. The actor is known for his intense performances and ability to bring complex characters to life on the big screen. However, his latest project, 65, presented a unique challenge for Driver, as he recently revealed the most “humiliating” part of filming.
Adam Driver is no stranger to films that rely heavily on CGI Adam Driver attends the opening ceremony of the 79th Venice International Film Festival I Stefania D’Alessandro/Getty Images
Some actors just seem to have that hard-to-describe “it factor,” and Driver is one of them. The Marriage Story star has become a familiar face in movies that rely heavily on CGI. For instance, his role as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars series involved a great deal of green screen work and visual effects.

This article contains spoilers for "65."
The moment "65" was finally unveiled, it aimed to fill a hole Hollywood had long overlooked — movies about dinosaurs without the title "Jurassic" in them. The first trailer was very compelling, needing only the sight of Adam Driver shooting dinosaurs with a space gun to create interest
Now that the whole film is out, it is actually rather good! The film delivers a good blend of bonkers concepts and a heartfelt story of survival. Driver carries the whole film on his back, doing his own "The Last of Us" impression of a man caring for a child in a hostile, desolate wasteland. Likewise, there are enough scenes of Driver fighting dinosaurs to be crowd-pleasing and raucous, but not so many that it becomes a direct-to-video sci-fi action movie.

Ondi Timoner’s documentary The New Americans: Gaming a Revolution surely doesn’t lack for ambition.
In a jam-packed 102 minutes, The New Americans aims to explain a string of recent Internet-fueled financial misadventures; to somewhat update the meditations on Internet-connected communities and online social anxiety that were part of her acclaimed 2009 film We Live in Public; and to link those things to a toxicity that culminated in the chaos of January 6, 2021.
The New Americans takes a meme-ified approach to understanding the meme-ified intersection of online culture, the financial sector and the rise of different strains of extremism. But like a Xerox of a Xerox of a Xerox, the relationship between the documentary and the information it’s attempting to elucidate becomes a blur.
The film wants to separate the signal from the noise in the public discourse, but it’s so enamored with the sensory madness that it just becomes more cacophony.

65 filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods long for the days when moviegoing was filled with mystery and intrigue regarding the experience that lies ahead.
Nowadays, cinemagoers are more aware than ever before of what they’re going to get on screen, due to increasingly revealing trailers that are turned into events and dissected to no end by fans and media outlets. There’s also no shortage of social media scoopers, but unfortunately, some of these parties fail to recognize that there’s a big difference between a scoop and a spoiler. Ultimately, even if you’re not seeking out such information, it’s very difficult to let the mystery be when more and more social media algorithms are feeding us information we didn’t exactly query.

We should all take a moment to appreciate that, in 2023, a movie about a bear hopped up on cocaine took social media by storm, a bonkers masterpiece about the multiverse won best picture, and we got a movie about Adam Driver fighting dinosaurs. Who says cinema is dead?
"65" centers on a space pilot named Mills (Driver), who hails from the distant planet Somaris. On the way home from an exploratory mission, his ship is bombarded by asteroids and crash lands on Earth ... 65 million years ago. With the only other survivor, Koa (Arianna Greenblatt), Mills journeys across treacherous prehistoric terrain to reach his escape pod, dodging carnivorous dinosaurs and racing against an impending meteor strike the whole way.
Critics have been less than kind to "65," but the mere fact that we have a big-budget film about dinosaurs that's not focused on Chris Pratt or weaponized locusts is a cause for celebration.

There are a lot of famous villains in pop culture, but one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Ironically, it's your head and shoulders that this villain wants to submerge. I'm talking about quicksand.
If you take a poll, it is likely that no one you know has ever been trapped in quicksand. Yet, the danger of quicksand is one of the most over-exaggerated tropes in film and television. Pop culture has created a lot of silly fears over the years. Acid rain, World War III, and artificial intelligence taking over the world to name a few. But one thing kids fear over all others: quicksand. It almost claimed the life of Daisy Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard." The Hulk was no match for its steely grip in "The Incredible Hulk." And poor Sarah from "One Life to Live" spent several episodes trapped in it!

“65,” in theaters now, stars Adam Driver as a spaceman who crash lands on a hostile alien world.
Except that, while Driver might be a futuristic traveler, he is actually living 65 million years in the past and winds up on an Earth that is crawling with dinosaurs And all of his technological know-how and high-tech gadgetry aren’t going to save him this time. Oh, and he crash lands right before the asteroid that killed all the dinosaurs is going to slam into the planet. So there’s something of a ticking clock as well.
TheWrap spoke to Driver, who is more likely to be found in thoughtful character pieces like Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story” or “White Noise,” about what the appeal was for him. (Watch the video above.)

If you weren't aware going in that "65" hailed from the co-writers of "A Quiet Place," you'd pick up on the parallels quickly enough. There are grieving parents; an emotional story about family; a father figure and a surrogate daughter who often communicate non-verbally; and a whole lot of scary creatures itching to hunt down and kill the heroes. The big difference? This time, the creatures aren't blind aliens with super-sensitive hearing. They're a bunch of dinosaurs who all look and act like the Sharptooth from "The Land Before Time," be they tall as a house or tiny as a (still rather large) mouse.

Adam Driver has played many characters: a lightsaber-wielding antihero, an evil knight, a missionary, a bus driver and poet, a stand-up comedian ... you get the idea. Driver is a performer who likes to take risks — and now he's playing a guy who shoots laser guns and fights dinosaurs. Yeah, you read that right.
In "65," Scott Beck and Bryan Woods' sci-fi action thriller, Adam Driver plays Mills, a pilot who experiences a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet and discovers he's stranded on Earth ... in the past, 65 million years ago. He has one chance at a rescue, and along with another survivor, he must find his way across unknown territory teeming with larger-than-life prehistoric creatures that are dangerous, to say the least. The film delivers on dinosaur scares (you can read /Film's full review here) and monster action, and Driver describes it as a "father-daughter movie" with characters that are "three-dimensional.

Did you happen to catch cinema's most prestigious event this past weekend? I'm referring, of course, to the release of the dinosaur-themed thriller "65," from writers and directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods ("A Quiet Place"). The very solid B-movie (you can find /Film's review by Sarah Milner here) certainly delivered on its premise, which transported Adam Driver and young actor Ariana Greenblatt to the Earth, 65 million years in the past. To say anything else would ruin too many of the surprises for those who have yet to enjoy it for themselves, but rest assured that the film pays off on all the dino-heavy spectacle that any fan could possibly ask for.
Impressively, the film's relatively stripped-down filmmaking meant that audiences needed something altogether more tactile than could be provided by, say, the wildly expensive "Jurassic World" movies. As Beck and Woods have previously discussed in an interview with /Film's Bj Colangelo,...

Adam Driver is in full-blown solider mode in "65." The new prehistoric sci-fi thriller, which was written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (the co-writers of "A Quiet Place" and the directors of "Haunt"), poses the question of what would happen if, essentially, a human armed with futuristic weaponry did battle with dinosaurs from Earth's distant past. In her review for /Film, Sarah Milner wrote that "65" delivers when it comes to scares and action, but feels a little derivative of other sci-fi tentpoles -- especially (and unsurprisingly) "Jurassic Park," although there are also shades of "The Last of Us" and the "Alien" franchise.

If you’ve seen the marketing materials for “65,” Sony’s upcoming sci-fi action thriller, one thing is made abundantly clear: futuristic spaceman Adam Driver is in the muck, battling dinosaurs using a laser gun. And for most, that is all that you need to know about the movie, which is both written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, whose screenplay for “A Quiet Place” launched a hugely profitable franchise. Dinosaurs, space travel and a movie star fighting for his life make pretty good excuses to buy a ticket for “65.”
But if your mind is stuck on the big questions — Who does Adam Driver play? Why is a human being interacting with dinosaurs, a species that, as the title suggests, went extinct 65 million years? And is there time travel involved? — we have answers. Just be warned – heavy spoilers for “65” follow.
What is Adam Driver’s Deal?...

A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods hope to make a big splash this weekend with their big-budget sci-fi epic 65. In it, Adam Driver plays an astronaut who crash lands on Earth 65 million years ago and has to battle dinosaurs and the terrain in order to survive. The 2023 sci-fi thriller "65" is one of those non-stop, runaway-train action flicks that's best enjoyed with the lights turned low, the bass turned up, and your brain turned off. That might sound like a jab there at the end (and maybe on some level it is) but it would be remiss of me to characterize this particular film any other way. High-concept science fiction this is not. You will see the afterglow of smarter, better movies — a hint of "Minority Report" here, a glimmer of "Prometheus" there — but it doesn't really matter. This movie has set out to give you a survivalist spaceman Dad shooting dinosaurs to protect a surrogate daughter figure — and damn it, it delivers that in spades.

Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the writers behind A Quiet Place and writers/directors of Haunt, seek to resuscitate the long-dormant horror adventure of yesteryear with 65, complete with survival elements, hostile creatures on a foreign planet, and even deadly quicksand. Only the foreign planet is Earth, 65 million years ago, and the hostile creatures are indigenous dinosaurs. That’s terrible news for a pair of travelers who’ve crash landed there. All of that should make for a feature far more thrilling than it is.

Plot: An astronaut (Adam Driver) transporting a cargo of people to their new home crash-lands on Earth sixty-five million years ago. Faced with the dangerous terrain and a whole lot of dinosaurs, he must try to recover an escape ship while protecting the crew’s sole survivor, a young girl (Ariana Greenblatt).
Review: 65 is a decent middle-of-the-road action movie. While it’s undeniably underwhelming, given that it comes from the guys who hatched the idea for A Quiet Place and stars the great Adam Driver, there’s enough action jammed into the scant ninety-minute running time to merit a ticket. But, it tries to do too much, namely by indulging in some world-building it doesn’t have the time for.
When I first saw the trailer for Scott Beck and Bryan Woods’ 65, I assumed that Adam Driver’s character was a human who somehow ended up in the past.

Despite its position as one of the seeming few big-scale “original” sci-fi films to compete with franchises, sequels and reboots for box office real estate, “65” is Frankensteinian at best. Cobbled together from (admittedly some of the best) parts of “Jurassic Park,” “The Descent,” “Armageddon” and more, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods’ post-“A Quiet Place” level-up too strongly resembles its forebears to break new, much less particularly interesting ground. Yet anchored by another in a series of committed performances from Adam Driver and an ensemble of suitably menacing prehistoric beasts that chase him for just over 90 minutes, Beck and Woods’ adventure delivers requisite thrills even if its creativity seems stuck in the distant cinematic past.

Spoiler alert: Dinosaurs and humans didn’t exist on Earth at the same time. This presents a problem for filmmakers looking to make a dinosaur movie with human/dino interaction, at least in terms of historical accuracy. One option is to ignore reality entirely, as One Million Years B.C. did. Another is to bring dinosaurs back to life, a la Jurassic Park and its many sequels. Or, you could have the characters go back in time, which is the solution delivered by the directing-screenwriting team of Scott Beck and Bryan Wood with 65, in which Adam Driver plays an astronaut from another planet who crashes on this planet 65 million years ago.
Or maybe the other planet also existed 65 million years ago, which would account for a key plot element. Driver’s character, Mills, has to undergo the grueling two-year space mission to pay for medical care for his daughter (Chloe Coleman...

65 Directors Beck/Woods Reveal The Secret Of Making An Effective Monster Movie [Exclusive Interview]
It's hard to believe that the film "65," short for "65 Million Years Ago," is a real movie. Produced by genre legend Sam Raimi, the newest feature film from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods stars Adam Driver and Ariana Greenblatt as two human-like beings from beyond the galaxy who crash land on an unexplored alien planet. Despite their advanced technology and space-age weaponry, these are not beings from the future, but 65 million years ago. The planet they crash onto turns out to be our own mother Earth.
The result is a sci-fi adventure film that sounds like something straight out of a child's imagination. Driver's spaceman pilot Mills has to shoot lasers at Cretaceous-era dinosaurs in the hopes of getting him and Greenblatt's young Koa back home to safety. Driver's spaceman pilot Mills has to shoot lasers at Cretaceous-era dinosaurs in the hopes of getting him and Greenblatt's young Koa back home to safety. The first thing to know about “65,” a new film in which Adam Driver plays a spaceman who fights dinosaurs, is that it is not actually about time travel. Driver’s character, the single-named Mills, does not go through some portal and land back in prehistory. No, he’s actually an alien from an advanced civilization whose ship is downed by an asteroid — can you see where this is going? — leaving him stranded on Earth.
It’s a fun idea with lots of goofy potential that is completely squandered in the execution from filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, best known for coming up with the idea for eventual box office smash “A Quiet Place.” What should be a movie that relishes in its silliness is instead played completely straight. Audience will likely be left wanting to scream at the screen, “C’mon, it’s Adam Driver fighting dinosaurs. This...

“65,” out this week, stars Adam Driver as an ancient space explorer who crash lands on a primeval planet Earth. Of course, given that the story takes place 65 million years ago, Driver aren’t alone. They are being stalked by fearsome reptilian predators, who don’t care about his spaceship or his fancy laser gun.
When TheWrap spoke to Driver and Greenblatt about “65,” we had to ask them what their favorite dinosaur movie was (besides “65” of course). You can watch the video above.

“Seeing ‘Jurassic Park’ in the theaters with my parents was a big moment,” Driver said, about Steven Spielberg’s cutting-edge, dinosaur-filled masterpiece (released back in 1993). Of course that original film, based on the bestselling novel by Michael Crichton, would inspire a whole franchise of films. The latest in the franchise (“Jurassic World: Dominion...

Aside from the Jurassic Park/World franchise, there isn’t an awful lot of filmmakers with the courage to delve into the world of the dinosaurs. But if anyone is going to try and craft something new and unique, A Quiet Place writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods are a steady bet, and they’ve brought the prehistoric to life in 65, helped along, of course, by a fine leading turn by Adam Driver.
To mark the film’s release we had the pleasure in speaking to the two writer/directors, and one of the film’s shining lights; the actress Ariana Greenblatt, as we discuss the collaboration process with an actor like Driver, and for the two behind the lens, they talk about making a dinosaur movie, and just being overwhelmed by dinosaurs generally, though that may have been mostly led by me. Anyway, both interviews are below, enjoy!
