London, Jan 30 (Ians) An injury-time goal from Brighton forward Kaoru Mitoma ended Liverpool’s campaign in this season’s Fa Cup as they were beaten 2-1 away to the south-coast outfit.
The winger scored after a magnificent control to take Brighton into the last 16 and leave Liverpool’s season hanging by a thread, reports Xinhua news agency.
Although Liverpool improved from their 3-0 defeat in the same ground just 15 days ago and even took the lead through Harvey Elliot’s 30th-minute goal, Brighton were level just nine minutes later when Lewis Dunk deflected a shot into the Liverpool goal.
Brighton had more of the ball and more efforts on target than Liverpool, and deserved to win, while Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League tie against Real Madrid now takes on an even greater significance.
In the day’s most romantic Cup tie, fifth-tier outfit Wrexham drew 3-3 with Championship promotion chasers Sheffield United.

Who would have thought that a Brazil-originated prank consisting of sex noises serenading a live broadcast would get noticed by millions? Well, it has.
A tweet from the UK’s BBC soccer broadcaster Gary Lineker has netted 18 million views thus far – and all it features is a phone discovered hidden in the studio during live TV coverage of the Fa Cup that was activated remotely by pranksters to provide the loud moaning sounds.
The interruption could be heard as Lineker broadcast the third-round replay between Wolves sand Liverpool.
BBC apologized for the interruption Tuesday to “viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening,” BBC said, adding through a spokesperson that the company was investigating the incident.
YouTube prankster Daniel Jarvis appeared to be behind the stunt, according to a video posted to YouTube. He pulled a similar stunt on the BBC five years ago, which was also...

To mark the release of Gazza, out now, we’ve been given 3 copies to give away on DVD.
Paul Gascoigne was the face of ‘90s Britain, the most celebrated young footballer in the world, and a newspaper editor’s dream. His on-field brilliance was matched only by his off-field antics, which the tabloid media ruthlessly exploited for a celebrity-obsessed audience.
Gazza is an unflinching portrait of the ultimate tragic hero, whose love for the riches and limelight of fame proved to be his downfall. An unmissable documentary for any football fan, featuring interviews from friends, family, and former teammates and coaches including Alan Shearer, Bryan Robson, Paul Ince, Ian Wright and Terry Venables.
Gazza was directed by Sampson Collins and was produced by Gareth Dodds, Tom Wood, Vaughan Sivell & Will Kane with Keith Haviland & Mark Stewart credited as Exec Producers.
Please note: This competition is open to UK residents only...

Gordon Ramsay’s son Jack and Phoenix Chi, daughter of Spice Girl and America’s Got Talent judge Mel B are two of the celebrity offspring that will front a Sliding Doors-style format produced by Ramsay’s own production company.
Jack Ramsay and Phoenix Chi will be joined by Bethany Mone, daughter of millionaire Ultimo founder Michelle Mone and Ria Ince, daughter of former Manchester United and England football captain Paul Ince in Born Famous.
The four-part series, produced by All3Media joint venture Studio Ramsay, will take the four youngsters and immerse them in the life that they might have had if they had not been born to celebrities and millionaires.
They will be sent to the communities their parents grew up in, to discover what their own lives would be like today and question how different it is being young in modern Britain from when their parents were growing up.

This portrait of Lenny McLean, who appeared in Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy and wanted to be London’s hardest man, is surprisingly engaging
Any future biopic of Manchester United’s Paul Ince will have to pick another title, because this one is taken. This is a surprisingly engaging and forthright film about Lenny “the Guv’nor” McLean, the East End bareknuckle fighter, club bouncer and gangland figure who became famous with a cameo role in Guy Ritchie’s movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. I expected the usual sentimental geezer-gangster stuff, and there are some cliches. But it is an interesting and personal piece of work, presented by Lenny’s son Jamie, who, despite his own problems and brushes with the law – and what I think might be undiagnosed depression – is engaging, intelligent and likable. Lenny was brutalised by an abusive stepfather and his surviving siblings still refuse to speak on camera.
