The opening scenes of director Christian Sparkes’ The King Tide set an ominous tone: a powerful storm takes down the power lines of a small island town as a pregnant woman loses her child while her dementia-suffering mother sits nearby. In the morning, as the town takes stock of the damage and the power is restored, a surprising discovery is found in an overturned boat in the harbour: a baby girl…with the ability to heal.
Writers Albert Shin and William Woods, working from a story by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, treat the story as something of a morality tale mixed with a fable. Following the cold open, the action jumps ahead 10 years at a point when the unnamed island is thriving. The fishing is bountiful, the islanders are self-sufficient and have cut ties with the mainland, and most everyone is happy.

Jeremy Renner looks like he hasn’t lost a step in the first full official trailer for the long-awaited third season of Mayor of Kingstown.
Below, Renner is back in business as a Michigan crime boss in the Paramount+ series, which is from co-creators Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon.
The season marks Renner’s acting comeback following his near-fatal 2023 New Year’s Day snowplow accident. Renner returned to set one year after he was critically injured after being run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada. He had broken 38 bones and his rib cage was rebuilt with metal, along with metal plates in his face to support his eye socket and titanium rods in one of his legs.
But you wouldn’t know it from the new footage.

Very few filmmakers have achieved what Quentin Tarantino has in his years in the film industry. Despite his films often igniting controversies, the filmmaker and his unique works have always remained on top of Hollywood. The man knows how to push boundaries to the perfect limits to give cinema fanatics something raw every time and Pulp Fiction was no different.
Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction
Whether it was the use of violence or the taboo topic of drugs, Pulp Fiction was not without controversy. Still, the film made waves at the box office and found a place in the audience’s hearts, establishing itself as a classic. Even legendary actor Bruce Willis couldn’t help but fall head over heels for the script as he tried everything in his power to convince Quentin Tarantino to make him a part of the film.

Taylor Sheridan has had his hands full with two incredibly demanding shows. Both Yellowstone and the Mayor of Kingstown have some of the most talented actors and actresses. With the work and dedication that has gone into the making of the shows, there is no doubt that the fanbase is just as strong.
It takes a great amount of understanding to perfect shows and the characters within them, something that can be tampered with because of divided attention.
Taylor Sheridan created and acted in Yellowstone
To counter such a problem, there are many ways. Whether it goes to smaller levels such as focus exercises or simply vigorous practice. Sometimes, however, it can go so far as to leave one project for another.

Taylor Sheridan has proven to be a more than capable writer when it comes to writing women in fiction, with Sicario and Wind River, starring Jeremy Renner, being two major examples. However, Season 1 of Mayor of Kingstown was been heavily dominated by men, but that isn’t to say there weren’t times when female characters were given their moments to shine.
When Hugh Dillon, co-creator of the show, was asked whether we could see more female representation moving forward last year, Dillon’s answer was quite promising.

Throughout the 2010s, Jeremy Renner’s career was mostly dictated by his stint in the MCU as Hawkeye, overshadowing some of his most acclaimed performances outside the cinematic giant. Fortunately, thanks to Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown, which marked the actor’s small screen debut, the Mission: Impossible star was once again able to put his acting chops to the display.
While fans and critics stand on opposite poles regarding the verdict on the overall show’s quality, one thing everyone can agree on is Renner’s brilliance as Mike McLusky. Co-creator Hugh Dillon even went as far as to compare Renner’s performance with one of Robert De Niro’s most iconic roles to date, which is another reason to get excited for season 3.

Four decades after its release, director Francis Ford Coppola took to Instagram on Thursday to share audition tapes from his 1983 film, The Outsiders.
The film, based on the 1963 novel by S.E. Hinton, is known for, among other things, launching the careers of many of its young stars, including Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, Diane Lane, C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon and Emilio Estevez.
In his post on Thursday, Coppola recounted his unique casting process for the endeavor. “We had all the actors together on a soundstage and would alternate different actors reading for different roles,” he said. The process is reflected in the accompanying footage of Coppola’s post, where various actors read lines from characters they did not play. At one point, the clips include several different performances of the line, “Hop the 3:15 freight to Windrixvill.”

The man, the legend, The Mandalorian. Few performers are able to make such an impact in such distinctly different fashion across the decades, but athlete-turned-actor/director Carl Weathers was certainly one of those. He has died at the age of 76.
Born on January 14, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Weathers’ initial career was much more focused on sports, specifically American Football, relying on athletic prowess to overcome adversity. He played on teams at Long Beach City College, San Diego State and signed on with the Oakland Raiders in 1970, making a mark as a linebacker.
But after various injuries, he decided in 1974 to focus on performance, pursuing a drama degree at San Francisco State University. Weathers took a familiar route to screens, working on commercials and smaller roles in films and guesting on a variety of TV series.

"Gunsmoke" ran for a very, very long time. Beginning as a half-hour adaptation of a similarly long-running radio show in 1955, it transitioned to an hour-long show in its 7th season, which gave its stock Western storylines a greater sense of place, and more opportunities for great, up-and-coming actors to star in them. Over the course of 20 seasons, the show told every story under the sun (often multiple times over) about the frontier town of Dodge City, Kansas.
The show's protagonist was ostensibly Marshal Matt Dillon (James Arness), whose casting has been attributed to no less a Western star than John Wayne. But the world of "Gunsmoke" went far beyond him, especially as the show went on. While Arness appeared in every one of the show's 635 episodes, he often looked more like a guest star the further along it went, showing up for scenes here and there while the supporting cast...

The first time Frances Fisher’s character appears in The King Tide, she’s stooped, uncommunicative, crushed by life and perhaps by a stroke. When the main action picks up, 10 years later, she’s a glowing picture of New Agey vim and vigor, and the island where she lives has been transformed. Nobody fears illness anymore because all discomforts and injuries are relieved by the miraculous healing powers of a little girl. The small population is united and harmonious — until the little girl’s powers lapse.
In this story of strong atmospherics and well-etched types, an isolated community discovers an otherworldly source of harmony, and the North Atlantic setting is as much a character as any of the villagers. Shooting in the tiny Newfoundland town of Keels, director Christian Sparkes (Hammer) plunges straight into a mood of crisis and foreboding with scenes of a pregnant woman’s bloody miscarriage and a disruptive storm.

Along with Renner, the cast includes Dianne Wiest as Miriam McLusky, Mike’s mother; series co-creator Hugh Dillon as detective Ian Ferguson; Taylor Handley as Kyle McLusky, Mike’s younger brother; Emma Laird as Iris, an escort; Tobi Bamtefa as Bunny, leader of the Kingstown Crips; Derek Webster as Stevie, another detective; Hamish Allan-Headley as police sargeant Robert Sawyer; and Aidan Gillen as Russian mobster Milo Sunter.
Dillon co-created the series with Taylor Sheridan. Both serve as executive producers with Renner,...

I love Arnold Schwarzenegger. I’ve seen every movie he’s done. Read his book. Follow his newsletter (which I totally recommend if you’re looking for a bit of healthy positivity in your day). Can spell his last name without Googling it. I grew up looking up to him as a father figure and still do to this day. He’s one of those special people you can look to for positivity and motivation when you’re feeling down. An actual positive male role model who just wants you to eat right, lift weights, and be kind. Oh, and he hosted and directed an episode of Tales from the Crypt once and owns a miniature horse named Whiskey that he lets live in the house with him.
What’S Not To Love?!
As you can tell, I am very excited to go through Arnold’s brief but legendary career...

Wes Anderson has done it all: India by train, Rhode Island by foot, the Mediterranean by sub, France by bike, faux-Germany by hotel, apple-orchard America by fox, animated Japan by dog, motel Texas by friends, New York City by family. But––despite the feeling that this couldn’t possibly be true––he’s never told a story in western America. In setting he hasn’t gone further west than Houston. Until Asteroid City: Arizona desert by quarantine.
Anderson’s 11th feature opens by railroad. Knowing the story will soon be confined in an all-too-familiar state of lockdown, however, longtime Dp Robert Yeoman uses the arrival to the tiny fictional town to capture and set the terrain. We’re yanked at high speed through a flurry of landscape shots framed through every angle under the sun on the mustard-yellow train and set to the jittery “Last Train to San...

The Motion Picture Association has revealed that Disney’s Haunted Mansion – a film based on the dark ride attraction than can be found at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Tokyo Disneyland – has earned a PG-13 rating for “some thematic elements and scary action.” And on the same day this rating is revealed, Disney is holding their presentation at the CinemaCon convention, where they showed a new trailer for the July 28th theatrical release and boasted that the film “has a mythology to rival the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.”
JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray is at CinemaCon, and he had this to say about a Haunted Mansion sizzle reel that was shown during the presentation: The history of the Mansion is set up by Danny DeVito in narration. We also get to see the core cast together (the same group from the poster) as they explore the mansion for the first time.

Disney is lighting up its Haunted Mansion.
The studio opened the door of its Justin Simien-directed film on Wednesday and offered CinemaCon attendees in Las Vegas a deeper peek inside the movie three months ahead of its July 28 release.
Disney head of theatrical distribution Tony Chambers introduced the footage by saying that the film has a mythology that rivals Pirates of the Caribbean. “The beloved theme park attraction comes to life in a frightfully funny and edge-of-your-seat experience,” he said, adding that it features cameos “that are truly to die for.”
The new footage dropped here a little more than a month after the studio released the official trailer for the reboot that is based on the popular Disney attraction. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the April 25 episode of Jeopardy!] This installment of Jeopardy! hosted by Ken Jennings, saw yet another triple stumper from an easy Final Jeopardy category, this time relating to two premiere crime dramas from the ’80s. After dethroning contestant Emma in her short rule as one-day Champ, it was up to Dillon Hupp to defend his single-day streak and $21,999 winnings against Ian Marquand, a retired broadcaster, and Johanna Stoberock, a fiction writer and adjunct professor. During Double Jeopardy, Dillon was able to go from second to first place after answering the second Daily Double correctly, adding $1,600 to his total of $6,600, ahead of Johanna’s $5,000. Although who remained in the lead fluctuated throughout the round, Johanna recovered first place by correctly answering the third and last Daily Double, leaving her with $15,600 against Ian’s $11,600 and Dillon’s $10,600, respectively, going into Final Jeopardy. Unfortunately, nobody could answer the following in the TV History category: “The 1980s ...
