Maybe Movies’ “Zombillenium” and ”Champions,” from Spain’s Morena and Películas Pendelton, feature among 90 series lined up to participate at this year’s Cartoon Forum which is scheduled to take place on site in France’s Toulouse over Sept. 14-17.
France’s Maybe Movies, producers of “Calamity,” this year’s Annecy Cristal best feature winner, along with 2 Minutes will adapt “Zombillenium,” a 2017 feature directed by Arthur de Pins and Alexis Ducord. The series will unspool in a creepy theme park whose employees are all actual monsters.
The “Champions” series is another spin off, this time from Javier Fesser’s same-titled live-action feature “Champions,” a local box office smash hit and Spain’s 2019 Academy Award submission. It turned on a basketball team of adult players with intellectual disabilities. The series will follow a group of kids with various levels of disability as they go to class and face growing up.

Barcelona – “Saba,” the new project of Alexis Ducord (“Zombillenium”) and Benjamin Massoubre, the editor at “Zombillenium,” and “Big Bad Fox & Other Tales,” will be offered up to potential partners and buyers at Europe’s upcoming Cartoon Movie, which kicks off March 5 in Bordeaux.
A 3D CGI animated feature project, “Saba” is produced by France’s Maybemovies, whose credits include Benjamin Renner’s “Ernest & Celestine,” and budgeted at $15 million.
The story is set in Ethiopia, then Abyssinia, in 1938, after the devastating invasion of Mussolini’s Italian army. 10-year Emelyia sets out to rescue her parents, captured by the fascist forces.
A coming-of-age experience, Emelyia’s trip will take her from Danakil Desert to the shores of the Red Sea, up to the cities of Sanaa and Marib in Yemen through the territories that once belonged to the legendary kingdom of the Queen of Saba.

The Cannes Film Festival has confirmed that “Another Day of Life,” one of the most-awaited of European animation films, will receive a special screening at this year’s edition. News of the movie’s inclusion follows the announcement of a batch of other late additions to Cannes’ official selection Thursday, including Lars von Trier’s “The House That Jack Built” and Terry Gilliam’s “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.”
“Another Way of Life” chronicles the graphic, harrowing and near-hallucinatory experiences during the 1975 Angolan civil war that drove Polish war correspondent Ryszard Kapuściński to write the book that forged his literary reputation. The animation-live action hybrid film wowed attendees at an industry gathering last month at Bordeaux’s Cartoon Movie event, where 15 minutes of footage was shown at a sneak-peek screening. Attendees were impressed with the mix of animation, live-action cutaways, archive footage and contemporary interviews.

Aiming to make an impact this Oscar season, the inaugural Animation Is Film Festival from GKids, the Annecy International Animation Festival, Variety, and Acifa-Hollywood launches October 20-22 at the Tcl Chinese 6 Theater.

Additionally, the festival will feature studio events, special screenings, short film programs, and a Vr lounge.

Based on several graphic novels by co-writer-director Arthur de Pins, collaborating here with Alexis Ducord, Zombillenium is an entertaining, irrepressibly European animated feature grounded in an amusing gothic fantasy concept. The idea is that the titular amusement park is run by real vampires, werewolves, zombies and other creatures of the night, all pretending to be fake monsters. Given the supernatural themes and more spooky than usual content, this probably skews a little older than the all-ages demographic of most U.S.-backed cartoon features, which could help bolster the film's appeal as a niche item.

I've been following the development of this cool new animated project called Zombillenium for awhile now. I've seen a few trailers and clips posted online over the past few months and it looks like a seriously fun movie! The story is set in a horror-themed amusement park full of monsters. Today we have the first English trailer and a clip for the French film and I really hope you enjoy them.
Zombillenium is a theme park that is secretly run by different kinds of monsters like zombies and vampires, and the story follows a father who wants to work at the park to make his daughter happy. The film is based on a series of comic books by Arthur de Pin, and here's the synopsis for the movie:
Nobody knows, but the Zombillenium theme park happens to be full of real monsters! When a human, Hector, threatens to disclose the...

"You've seen too much." Check out the first official English-language trailer for a cool French animated film titled Zombillenium, about a horror amusement park run by monsters. The film is actually playing at the Cannes Film Festival this month, which is a good sign this might be worth catching. Directed by Arthur de Pins & Alexis Ducord, the story is about a father who decides to work at the Zombillenium in order to make his daughter happy. The theme park is secretly run by zombies, vampires, werewolves and other monsters. It's based on a series of comic books written by Arthur de Pin. I really like the animation style in this, and it seems like a fun, funky story. It might be perfect for an October release for Halloween, but nothing is set yet. Here's the first trailer (+ poster) for Arthur de Pins & Alexis Ducord's Zombillenium, from ScreenDaily: Nobody knows,...
