Fans of Rihanna’s music should not hold their breath for a ninth record anytime soon, it seems, according to a conversation with the singer-turned-mogul in the latest issue of Interview magazine.
The pop sensation, who hasn’t released an album since 2016’s Anti, recently spoke with Interview editor Mel Ottenberg on a wide range of topics, from her marriage to Fenty Beauty to music. On the latter topic, she has no news but that may not be great news for eager fans.
“I have a lot of visual ideas,” the singer told the outlet. “It’s weird. My brain is working backward right now. I usually have the music first, and the music leads me into all of these visual opportunities, and now I’m having all of these visuals.”
“I don’t have the songs for them yet, she added. “But maybe that’s the key, this time.

That’s hot…pink. As Mattel’s iconic doll Barbie sees a renaissance due almost exclusively to the upcoming movie, there’s someone most of us plain forgot about that thinks she deserves credit for its success – and thy name is Paris Hilton.
In a new Interview Magazine sitdown (with editor-in-chief and fashion designer Mel Ottenberg), Paris Hilton said that her penchant for wearing pink in the 2000s led to a Barbie-inspired fashion that she is directly responsible for leading. “I love all the pink. So, just to see everybody now in all pink and rocking that is just really incredible. I’ve been doing Barbiecore for so long, I probably invented Barbiecore…I really believe that. Besides Barbie, I was the first human…I love Barbie. She’s my idol and icon.” What, no Oppenheimer chic, Paris?

Jeremy O. Harris is a bona fide Broadway-meets-Hollywood multihyphenate. And at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the Tony Award-nominated playwright and producer on HBO’s Euphoria added another title to his resume: an actor in Sean Price Williams’ The Sweet East. The drama follows a young woman traveling along the northeastern coast of the United States and stars Talia Ryder, Jacob Elordi, Simon Rex and Ayo Edebiri.
The film premiered during the Directors’ Fortnight portion of the festival on May 18, and in a FaceTime Audio interview en route to another event the following day, Harris describes the cast’s approach to the red carpet as “walking down the street like we were in some fantastic, French behind-the-scenes documentary of what it means to have your debut feature at Cannes.”
For Harris, street style transitioned into carpet style effortlessly thanks to the vision of Mel Ottenberg, celebrity stylist, Interview Magazine‘s editor-in-chief and Harris’ friend.

Kim Kardashian has been famous for well over a decade. But in a conversation for Interview's recent cover story, editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg asked the Kardashians star when she knew she had "really arrived in high society." Her answer involved looking back at her time with Kanye West. "I mean, when I was with Kanye, and he was introducing me to a lot of people," Kim—who shares four kids with the "Heartless" rapper—said, "I think that definitely got a lot of people to have a different level of respect." Of course, she gives herself credit for where she is today, too. "I've also seen a s--t more recently—going to law school, just doing...

“He’s a cutie,” Kardashian said. “He’s literally such a good person, they don’t really make them like him anymore. I’m excited for what he has coming up.”

Kim Kardashian is opening up about critics who say she has no talent and explaining why she always feels like she has to validate herself. Kardashian spoke to Interview Editor in Chief Mel Ottenberg for the magazine's September cover story, for which she also bared her butt in the accompanying photoshoot.
Ottenberg asked the reality star and businesswoman if she thinks she still has anything left to prove. "I think I'll always feel like I have something to prove," Kardashian responded. "Even if it's just to myself. My next big thing is just finishing law school because I'm halfway there. It's really time consuming. I have to study two hours every day with my professor. I don't have a day off from that." Kardashian started studying law in 2019, and in 2021, she finally passed the so-called "baby bar" that kept her on the path to become a lawyer.

Tom Cruise, now approaching age 60, has never reacted calmly to frustration. This week his carefully structured life was put on hold by delays of his two heralded mega movies: the Top Gun sequel and the seventh Mission: Impossible.
Can Hollywood survive another year without Cruise? Or can Cruise?
Star egos drift into paranoia even in the best of times and these are the worst, with celebrities worldwide finding themselves parked on the sidelines. Apart from movie delays, China now has declared war on celebrities and pop stars in general. Could others follow suit? (More on that below.)
Celebrity narcissism is normally cringe-inducing, but this time I empathize with Cruise for both his candor and tenacity. “I need the action,” Cruise once told me, a semi-crazed look in his eyes. He had just produced and starred in Lions for Lambs, a courageous anti-war movie about two young soldiers who’d served in Afghanistan.

You’d think that Rihanna’s costume people would have an unlimted budget considering all of her success. But it looks like they’re cutting corners left and right. Rihanna took to the stage yesterday in Trianon, France lacking pants, that’s totally nothing new. Hell, it’s her trademark! But then when we saw photos of her performing in Stockholm sans bra, it made us a little sad. Maybe it’s a ploy to make people buy her album: Play on people’s sympathies so that she can afford to get a full stage outfit! But in the mean time, we’re not complaining. And neither is her costume designer, Mel Ottenberg. He opened up to E! News about Riri’s scandelous stage attire on her world-wide 777 Tour. ”I love how people are telling me now that they are shocked she wasn’t wearing a bra. But like, who cares?...

Could this sound more exhausting? Rihanna -- the most infamous redhead since the legendary pirate Barbarossa -- is celebrating the release of her new album Unapologetic (out today) with a seven-day, seven-performance, seven-country tour called The 777 Tour. Crazier yet, she's inviting along fans, contest winners, and more than 150 journalists to fly around the world with her. And guess who got an invite? NewNowNext's intrepid reporter Shawn Hollenbach, whose day-to-day journey is chronicled here. He is sleep-deprived and armed with a cardboard cutout of RuPaul. That is some next-level Woodward and Bernstein commitment to journalistic integrity. As his trek winds up, let's recount some of his highlights.

When it comes to Rihanna, her look is nearly as important as her sound. Which makes her wardrobe a frequent talking point, and her stylist Mel Ottenberg a busy man. Ottenberg, tasked with styling Ri-Ri on her 777 tour, is responsible for picking out those convo-prompting outfits before the hitmaker hits the stage. And for someone as fashionable as she is, that's no small task. "We're going for an easygoing, stripped-down thing that's not too showy, because we're doing these small shows," Ottenberg tells E! News. "It's really just sort of inspired by her jet-set lifestyle." However, although Mel has a huge part in styling Rihanna, it's Ri-Ri herself who has the final...
