Actress Marlee Matlin has called out CBS for its Super Bowl pregame coverage, which featured virtually no airtime for the American Sign Language (Asl) performers.
“I am absolutely Shocked at @CBS for introducing the Deaf performers at today’s pregame #SuperBowl and then not showing even one second (or more) of their performance… as has been tradition for the last 30 years. Why!?” Matlin wrote in an X post on Sunday night.

Deaf artists Anjel Piñero, Shaheem Sanchez and Daniel Durant were set to perform Asl during this year’s Super Bowl — but viewers watching the CBS telecast may not have actually seen them on air. That’s according to Oscar winner and Deaf actor Marlee Matlin, who expressed her frustration with the network on social media.

Post Malone kicked off the 2024 Super Bowl festivities with an impassioned performance of “America the Beautiful” at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
The Grammy-winning rapper and singer appeared alongside model and dancer Anjel Piñero, who performed the song in American Sign Language (Asl) on behalf of the National Association of the Deaf. Standing solo with an acoustic guitar in hand, Posty delivered a tasteful version of the song, with reverb-washed vocals and a dreamy pedal steel guitar line.
Speaking about the performance with Zane Lowe earlier this week, Malone revealed that he felt “totally out of [his] depth” compared to the evening’s other performers, and said, “I’m just excited and very, very honored to be able to come out and sing these songs with talented people and all of America. I’m excited. I’m nervous. I’m terrified, but I give it the best I got.” Watch the performance below.

It’s “America the Beautiful” but with a twist.
During Sunday’s Super Bowl Lviii pregame festivities, Post Malone performed a soft, acoustic rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
Sporting a brown blazer and light washed jeans, the rapper and singer sang the lyrics to the iconic anthem in a melodic tone. Singing through his grills, Malone displayed his vocal range as he also strummed along on his guitar. During his performance, cameras panned to Taylor Swift hugging Blake Lively in one of the Allegiant Stadium’s $2.5 million luxury suites in Las Vegas,...

Usher knows that social media has been buzzing with fantasy playlists about his halftime show performance, while others try to guess which special guests he’ll bring onstage.
He didn’t offer specific details at a press conference in Las Vegas on Thursday, but the singer said he would incorporate elements of his uber-successful Sin City residency, which includes him dancing and singing while skating.
“I was very mindful of my past, celebrating my present, which is here in Las Vegas, and thinking about where we are headed in the future,” he told Apple Music’s Nadeska Alexis onstage. “What songs do people know me for? What songs have been a celebration of [my career]? That was the idea.”
Usher has collaborated with acts like Beyoncé, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Justin Bieber, Jungkook of BTS, J Balvin, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Lil Jon and Jay-Z, who is executive producing the halftime show for a fifth time.
