- Lia Roldan is a Los Angeles set decorator for the motion picture and photography industries. She has a B.F.A from the Columbia College of Architectural Interior Design. While completing her degree, she was captivated by the filmmaking program, inspiring her to extend her studies into film. Through her training in the art and techniques of filmmaking, Lia merged her passion for interior design with the world of moving images, creating the genesis of her career in set decoration.
In the early years of her career, Lia thrived as a set stylist for commercial photography in Chicago, decorating sets for a range of photo-editorials and interior design magazines. Her ability to work under tight demands and deliver finely detailed and original content for high-profile clients, paved the way towards her definitive career in film.
Upon relocating to Los Angeles in 2004, she immediately began establishing herself as a set decorator by completing a string of independent feature films. The unique challenges she faced on low-budget films honed her resourcefulness and creative problem solving, becoming skilled at delivering high-quality production value regardless of budget and resource constraints.
In 2007 Lia became a member of IATSE Local 44 and she refined her set-craft under the mentorship of veteran art director Steve Arnold. His meticulous precision and boundless vision inspired Lia with a model that guides her craft. As Arnold redefines his career as a Production Designer, their solid partnership continues to grow.
As a set decorator, Lia's approach seeks to bridge her formal design training with an ever-evolving cultural vision, brought together by hands-on production experience.
