The coronavirus has shut down film and TV production, so horror filmmakers Matt Leslie (“Summer of ’84”) and Dylan Mulick (“Nvrlnd”) decided to take matters into their own hands and film a horror short, titled “Zoom Cloud Hack – #91784 – The Tribe Murders,” in the confines of their own home.
“We got together for coffee one day, socially distanced of course, and Dylan said, ‘dude I’m climbing walls, I need to do something,’ and I said, ‘well what we can do?'” Leslie told TheWrap. “We started talking about making a horror short and Dylan came up with the Zoom idea and then we started riffing.”
A day later, the duo had a script, Mulick said. And a day and a half after that, they were fully cast with actors they felt confident in to pull together a film that wasn’t going to be pieced together on a set.

An intimate group of executives, talent and journalists gathered in Hollywood on Friday evening to celebrate the life of Joyce Sevilla, a veteran publicist and brand marketing whiz who died unexpectedly last week.
Held only blocks away from the bustle of the Academy Awards setup at Hollywood and Highland, restauranteur Salvatore Aurora closed his Sunset Blvd. property Sycamore Tavern for Sevilla’s friends and family. The sporty hangout was transformed by luxurious linens, hundreds of candles, and snapshots of Sevilla’s adventures blanketing the walls.
The evening was hosted by Sevilla’s inner circle — public relations firm Shadow’s chief executive Brad Zeifman, “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race” contestant and medical executive Corinne Kaplan, Bwr Public Relations senior vice president Gary Mantoosh, Thirsty Media co-founder Casey Brennan, and BrandLink Communications co-founder Greg Link.

This is definitely one way to stop animal cruelty! 38-year-old reality star Shanna Moakler and three younger former Miss Americas stripped all the way down to promote PETA’s ‘Say No To Fur’ message.
Sex sells, but can it get people to stop wearing fur? The animal rights organization PETA is once again hoping it can — on June 13 they released a new ad featuring four former Miss Americas — completely naked!
Miss Americas Go Nude For PETA
The poster shows Shanna Moakler, 38, Alyssa Campanella, 23, Shandi Finnessey, 35, and Susie Castillo, 33, cozying up to each other totally nude (well, except for those high heels). The former Miss Americas have some strategically-placed hands draped over each other to cover up certain spots, and the ad also features the clever tagline, “Feel beautiful in your own skin, and let animals keep theirs.”

Four Miss USA winners have stripped down for PETA. Former title holders Shanna Moakler (1995), Susie Castillo (2003), Shandi Finnessey (2004) and Alyssa Campanella (2011) got naked for a new PETA advertisement that asks people to "say no to fur."
"Feel beautiful in your own skin and let animals keep theirs," the ad reads.
This is just part of the former Miss USA winners' quest to make the pageant industry adopt a fur-free policy. As Castillo says, it's up to pageant competitors to "take a stand united and to tell the pageant industry not to support the fur industry." The 2013 Miss USA pageant takes place on June 16 in Las Vegas.

Welcome to the 2011 Miss USA pageant live blog! I haven't watched a pageant in years, but what the hell. Tonight's hosts are Giuliana Rancic and Andy Cohen. I can handle her. Not so much him. Kelly Osbourne and Susie Castillo (won the titled in 2003, MTV VJ) are acting as correspondents and the whole thing is going down in Las Vegas. It's the 60th anniversary. Woo hoo. I guess.
So who will be crowned the winner? Let's go...
9:00 - The girls introduce themselves and are literally screaming their names and ages. Ahh! Turn down the mics! By the way, these girls look twice their age with all that makeup. Sheesh.
9:04 - My home state of New Jersey? Eh, not so impressed.
9:11 - Oh wow. They arranged the girls geographically. How clever. Cough.

Last fall NBC aired a new reality series called School Pride. Though the show might have been made with noble intentions, it didn't attract many viewers. It's now been cancelled.
School Pride focuses on communities that come together to renovate their broken and aging public schools. The series follows parents, teachers, and students as they roll up their sleeves to make some positive changes in their hometowns. The TV series' hosts are Susie Castillo, Jacob Soboroff, Tom Stroup, and Kym Whitley.
The premiere of School Pride attracted a tiny 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.90 million total viewers. That put it in third place in the timeslot, tying with a repeat of No Ordinary Family on ABC.
As bad as the debut was, the ratings for subsequent episodes went even lower, attracting as little as a 0.6 rating in...

Miss USA 2003 Susie Castillo had an experience passing through the airport in Dallas that adds her to the list of people who say Tsa agents are going too far in their "intrusive" pat downs. According to an interview she gave moments after the incident--she's clearly emotional in the video--the pageant winner says a female Tsa agent touched her inappropriately "at least four times," leading her to ask "what have I done to deserve this treatment as an upstanding, law-abiding American citizen?” Am I a threat to Us security? I was Miss USA, for Pete’s sake!" Castillo, who describes the pat down in clinical terms that some may find graphic, considers what happened to her to be an assault:...

Former Miss America (2003), Susie Castillo, claims that a female Tsa .screener. fondled her vagina four times during a required pat-down. Castillo taped her reaction after the event and goes through the entire encounter as she shares that her experience at Dallas' airport was "completely different" than in Los Angeles, in her travels to Rio. The Tsa has come under great scrutiny and airline consumer outrage as their procedure guidelines allows agents to use hands and fingers to probe airline customer bodies for hidden weapons, including breasts and genitals. Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura launched a lawsuit back in January against the Tsa for the same problem Castillo experienced, enduring embarrasing pat-downs as he traveled for his work as the...

The educational system and its failures and successes are always relevant, but lately our nation's schools have been moved to the forefront of our pop-culture sensibilities with David Guggenheim's disheartening documentary, "Waiting for Superman." In promoting the new film, Guggenheim showed us the worst of our schools -- highlighting everything from budget problems to unqualified teachers.
NBC's brand-new renovation show, "School Pride," hopes to inspire some hope in a seemingly hopeless situation. "There are endless problems with the education system in this country - I'm not trying to pretend there aren't," executive producer Denise Cramsey tells Zap2it. "But the one thing we found in 'School Pride' is that there's a lot to be positive about. There are really great teachers, and there are really smart, mature students who care about their communities. Hopefully, when the show comes on, people will find a little hope in that.

Susie Castillo, former Miss USA and MTV host, says succinctly, "I steer clear of reality shows. Most of them are crap." It's a view I share, at least when it comes to makeover shows. And yet NBC's School Pride which premieres on October 15 may have viewers rethinking the value of such programs. It features Castillo -- along with three others -- tackling the urgent need to give America's children safe and appealing schools in which to learn. The show's premise is hardly revolutionary: the four telegenic hosts arrive at a school that is virtually crumbling around its student body and vow to overhaul it in the space of seven days (10 days in the premiere.) But the innovative -- and tear-inducing -- twist is that the entire community is enlisted in the effort. In the pilot sent to me...

Leading the students, teachers and parents in changing this key element in their community is a team of four -- Swat Commander Tom Stroup, interior designer Susie Castillo ("House of Payne"), comedian and former substitute teacher Kym Whitley ("Til Death") and political correspondent Jacob Soboroff ("AMC News").
"School Pride" is executive produced by "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actress Cheryl Hines and Denise Cramsey ("Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "True Beauty").
NBC already has a few reality competition shows...

Brought forth by Just Jared Jr., the short video offers a look at the "High School Musical" actress giggling and bouncing when noticing that she has made errors.
In addition to the Zac Efron's girlfriend, those included in the clip are "Hotel for Dogs" beauty Emma Roberts, "Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere, "Bring It On" actress Gabrielle Union, and former Miss USA Susie Castillo. Nigel Lythgoe knows reality competition shows. As an executive producer of both American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, the U.K. native has helped spur dreams of stardom worldwide. The producer's latest baby, Superstars of Dance, (Mondays, 8 pm/Et, NBC), has joined the performance show playing field with a global spin on the genre.
Unlike Idol's and Dance's battles of the neophytes, Superstars features professional dancers from eight different countries. Groups, couples and individuals compete in a format that was inspired in part by the Olympics, with judges from the participating countries scoring the routines. Hosted by "Lord of the Dance" Michael Flatley and Trl alum Susie Castillo, the costumes are lavish, the sets dazzle and the dancing is diverse. Just as Superstars is getting warmed up, TVGuide.com visited the set to chat with Lythgoe to discuss his inspiration for the series, why he thinks there's...

New dancing reality TV show "Superstars of Dance", produced by Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller, two masterminds behind "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance", promises to bring in something different. Unlike two other dancing competitions, "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars" which determine their winners through viewers' vote, this NBC's TV show will rely its evaluation on the selected world-class judges.
"These are professional dancers; it would be very difficult for someone at home in their living room to pass judgment on the prima ballerina from Russia," host Michael Flatley explains why audiences are not involved. "It's very difficult to see how she might have done her pirouette or how she may have stood en pointe properly. It takes a specialist."

The weekday countdown show, Total Request Live (Trl), that's been a longtime staple for MTV, is ending its run after a decade on the air.
Trl kicked off on September 14, 1998 as MTV's prime showcase for popular music videos. The series counts down the 10 most popular music videos of the day as determined by viewers and other measurements. The cable channel had once focused on videos but cut down as it expanded into alternative programming. Trl hosts have included a pre-Last Call Carson Daly, Damien Fahey, Vanessa Minnillo, La La Vasquez, Susie Castillo, and Hilarie Burton.
The series' viewership hit a high of 750,000 viewers in 1999 and has been in decline in recent years. Producers have experimented with various ways to invite more audience participation but apparently they haven't been successful enough in attracting more viewers. The plug is being pulled on Trl but, according to executive producer Dave Sirulnick, the show...
