Let’s be honest: If you tuned in to the premiere of Family Law on The CW on Sunday, it’s probably 99.9 because of TV fan faves Jewel Staite and Victor Garber.
Staite is best known for Firefly, but her role/performance on the imported Canadian legal drama is more akin to her character on The L.A. Complex than sweet Kaylee. The actress stars as Abigail Bianchi, a personal injury lawyer, whom we first meet while she’s passed out in her car on the side of the road. Abigail shows up late to court, visibly drunk, and pukes all over the place.

At The CW's Family Law virtual press day, we interviewed Victor Garber, Jewel Staite, Zach Smadu, and Genelle Williams, who plays Abigail's half-siblings, Daniel and Lucy. We also talked to the showrunner Susin Nielsen and executive producer, Jordy Randall.
Check out the interview questions from all the panelists below:
Victor and Jewel, tell us about your characters and what it's been like working together.

In The CW‘s Family Law, after personal injury lawyer Abigail Bianchi’s (Jewel Staite) marriage implodes and she shows up in court drunk, only one lawyer will mentor her so she can still practice: her estranged father, Harry Svensson (Victor Garber), the smug head of Vancouver’s top family law firm. How fraught is the reunion? (Credit: Courtesy of the The CW) Abigail finally meets her half siblings! Perfectionist lawyer Daniel (Zach Smadu) also works at the firm; daddy’s favorite, Lucy (Genelle Williams), a psychologist, practices across the hall. To prove herself, tenacious Abigail plays dirty. “Act now, ask for forgiveness later,” Staite says of her motto in her first case: convincing a client to sue a sperm donor for retroactive child support. Harry’s skeptical—and impressed. Says Garber, “Abigail is probably smarter than him, but he would never admit that.” Family Law, Premieres Sunday, October 2, 8/7c,...

The first season of Bitten performed very well in Canada (where it's produced) and even became Space's highest-rated original series to date. The show performed okay here in the States on Syfy. How will season two do? Will this supernatural series be cancelled or renewed for a third season? If it's a hit in Canada but not in the U.S., will Syfy air future seasons? Stay tuned.
