[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Tuesday, January 23 episode of Jeopardy!] Jeopardy!’s Season 39 Champions Wildcard competition continues with the sixth quarterfinalist match featuring Second Chance winner Xanni Brown, a postdoctoral researcher originally from Cincinnati, Ohio; Lynn Di Vito, a retired museum educator from Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Robbi Ramirez, a writer from Orlando, Florida. Although one contestant stood out from the rest, another instantly rose from last place to number one contender after clearing a particular category. As expected, Second Chance winner Xanni began with a strong performance, quickly taking the lead, especially after scoring $3,400 on the first Daily Double. After the first break, Xanni had a total of $7,800 and, before entering Double Jeopardy, elevated that score to $11,400 with a perfect first round, followed by Lynn with $4,00 and Robbi with $3,800. However, once we got to Double Jeopardy, the game flow began to change with the introduction of the category Poets & Poetry by host Ken Jennings. Robbi, ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the May 24 episode of Jeopardy!] May 24, 2023 marked the first game of Jeopardy! following the end of Ben Chan’s recording-breaking, nine-episode streak. Returning champ Lynn Di Vito went up against Ed Petersen and Joyce Sun in the episode, which aired just before the finale of Jeopardy! Masters. Following the episode, fans of the game show remarked on the number of clues left on the board in the rounds, a result of a slower-paced game but not an entirely unheard of outcome. Lynn, a retired museum educator from Colorado Springs, Colorado, came into the episode with $11,800 in winnings. Ed is a planning technician from Orlando, Florida, and Joyce is a retired lawyer from Bloomfield, New Jersey (whom you might recognize from a 1960s Pampers commercial). Their pacing was slower than what fans see in Jeopardy! Masters, which led to some leftover clues on the board in each round (though not a shocking amount). One ...

What kind of a name is Benedick, anyway?
Jeopardy! contestant Ben Chan must have been asking himself the same thing as he realized his nine-day winning streak on the ABC gameshow was coming to an end. On Tuesday night’s episode, the philosophy professor from Green Bay, Wisconsin, whose nine games’ worth of winnings totaled $252,600 by that point, lost Final Jeopardy! by one letter.
The final round’s answer read, “Both of the names of these two lovers in a Shakespeare play come from Latin words for ‘blessed.’”
Chan’s opponents, Lynn Di Vito and Danny Leserman, both wrote down Romeo and Juliet. Chan had his tenth win in his grasp, but he slipped up by writing “Beatrice and Benedict” rather than “Beatrice and Benedick.” So close, but not good enough for the Jeopardy! judges.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the May 23 episode of Jeopardy!] Nine-day Jeopardy! champ Ben Chan took on retired museum educator Lynn Di Vito and policy communications manager Joe Leserman to continue his record-making reign and increase his total winnings of $252,600. Host Mayim Bialik joked that Chan could even someday match Ken Jennings’ streak of 65 runaway wins. However, a rocky game for Chan and a harsh ruling from the judges may jeopardize his chances of breaking that streak. Ben lost $4,200 on a true Daily Double in the first round but retained the lead going into Double Jeopardy with $3,800, Danny at $600, and Lynn with $400. Lynn secured the second Daily Double and took first place by adding $3,000 to her total of $7,200, tying with Ben. During the third Daily Double, Ben dropped $3,000 from his score of $11,200 against Lynn’s $11,600 but played a strong game leading into Final Jeopardy with $17,400, Lynn with $14,800, and $2,400 for Danny.
