Fred Sokolow is a versatile musician adept at jazz and rock guitar, and
5-string banjo . He also plays lap steel, lap steel and Hawaiian
guitars, the mandolin, as well as sings.
In addition to working as a studio session sideman, Sokolow has
performed as a solo jazz guitarist/vocalist, as well as served as a
front-man for blue-grass, jazz and nd rock n' roll bands. He has toured
with Bobbie Gentry, Jim Stafford and The Limelitersuitsm and played
Resonator Guitar for Chubby Checker. A habitué of the bluegrass and
jazz festival circuits, Soklow He has performed in diverse venues
across the country, including L.A,, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. On
TV, he won the Gong Show and appeared on The Tonight Show.
In addition, he has written scores of instructional books, tapes and
videos and had the honor of MCing for for the legendary Miss
Carol Doda at
the Condor Club in San Francisco. He also wrote and performed the music
score of "Rampaging Nurses" for the late auteur
Artie Mitchell, the Cecil B.
