Police identified the victims of Monday’s shooting at a public library that shook the town of Clovis, New Mexico.
Two women were shot and killed in the shooting at the Clovis Carver Public Library. Clovis Police Chief Douglas Ford released the identities of the victims during a press conference on Tuesday, saying, “We are a small community, when these things happen we come together.”
“Our two deceased in this instance were family to the City of Clovis employees,” he added, speaking about Wanda Walters, 61, who was a circulation assistant at the library, while her colleague, Kristina “Krissie” Carter, 48, was a youth service librarian.

It doesn’t seem possible that it was around 30 years ago that A Flock of Seagulls ran so far away or Modern English melted with us, but it was. The story behind those acts, their biggest hits, and dozens of other New Wave acts are captured in all their ‘80s bad hairdo-ed, brightly colored-glory in “Mad World: An Oral History of New Wave Artists And Songs That Defined The 1980s.” Written by Lori Majewski and Jonathan Bernstein, with a forward by Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes and an afterward by Moby, the book examines the New Wave era through the filter of 36 songs associated with the time, such as Gary Numan’s “Cars,” Duran Duran’s “Girls On Film” and The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now.” Each chapter deals with one act and, while not limited to the group’s biggest hit, explores the story behind that tune and the...

“Intolerance”
“Intolerance” would be a massive, amazing undertaking in 2013. Can you even put in perspective what it was like 100 years ago? Arguably one of the most important and influential silent films ever made, “Intolerance” runs almost three hours and covers centuries of storytelling. It’s a fascinating film both in the history of cinema and the way it addressed cultural concerns of the time. Cohen Media Group continues to expertly restore and highlight great films. They’re quickly rising the ranks of the most important Blu-ray studios working today.

Killswitch Engage are set to release their new studio album 'Disarm The Descent' on April 2nd via Roadrunner Records. I caught up with guitarist Joel Stroetzel to talk about original singer Jesse Leach rejoining the band after a decade long absence, his musical influences and how the new album turned out to be so fast and heavy. Singer Jesse Leach left Killswitch Engage after the release of the now classic 'Alive or Just Breathing' due to personal reasons over 10 years ago and was replaced by Howard Jones. That lineup existed for several years until recently it was announced that Jones had decided to part ways amicably to deal with his health among other things. Around this time, Leach had returned to the music scene with a project called Times of Grace which also featured his former...

Once was a surprise cinema hit – a micro-budget romance about an Irish busker and a Czech flower seller. Who better to adapt it for stage than self-confessed misanthrope Enda Walsh? The playwright recalls his journey from cynic to proud, emotional wreck
We don't do musicals in Ireland. Well, not much. We like to keep our actors and musicians separate at all times. In separate counties, even. There is possibly a musical theatre company hidden on Sherkin Island doing a production of Wicked right now, but they haven't been found yet. And when they do find them, it will be a heavy dose of Samuel Beckett for those grinning fools. Why break into song and dance to exorcise your inner emotions when you can talk yourself through it? Over the years, I've added my own fair share of words to Irish theatre. You can't help it as an Irish person. We talk.

Getty Duncan Sheik
Though he emerged from the ‘90s pop scene, singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik is now probably best known as a Broadway composer, whose rock score to “Spring Awakening” earned two Tony Awards in 2007. Since then he’s been juggling multiple theater projects, but recently carved out time to record an album. Set for release Tuesday, “Covers 80s” is a collection of hits and obscurities by acts such as New Order, Tears for Fears and the Thompson Twins, which Sheik presents in hushed acoustic arrangements.

Eighties pop star Howard Jones has penned a tribute to drummer pal Kevin Wilkinson, 10 years after the session musician hanged himself. The "New Song" singer, who had worked exclusively with Wilkinson, admits he was still struggling to come to terms with his death and decided to sit down with mutual friends and write about his feelings.
The result was new song "You Knew Us Well". Jones tells WENN, "I really needed to document the process that I went through to try and come to terms with the death. I talked it through with a lot of friends who actually knew him, so we kind of helped each other through."
"I thought it was very important to do that because I'm sure that loads of people have been through a similar thing with a friend. You get very angry and you start to feel really guilty and then you start to...

Clearly not fans of peroxide-mulleted synth-players, Kevin MacDonald and Ridley Scott are suggesting you do just that, and film it, and send them the footage.Life in a Day is a YouTube project which MacDonald will direct and Scott will produce. The plan is for Macdonald (director of State of Play and The Last King of Scotland, and no stranger to documentaries having brought us the award-winning Touching the Void) to marshal all the film received into a coherent feature "that will tell future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July, 2010.""It is a unique experiment in social filmmaking," says Macdonald, "and what better way to gather a limitless array of footage than to engage the world's online community." Surely this is going to be limited to "what...

Claymation has a long history in rock videos. Peter Gabriel used clay to craft one of the most-watched, iconic videos in the history of early MTV in "Sledgehammer" (which regularly has a place on the "best videos of all time" lists). Adam Jones of Tool has directed a series of clips over his band's career that incorporated clay-based action (especially their breakthrough video "Sober"). Kenna turned to clay for his clip for "Hell Bent" and Primus exploited some clay characters for "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver." And of course the most famous video to feature clay characters is probably Green Jelly's "Three Little Pigs" (which really needs to be seen to be believed). Metalcore juggernaut Killswitch Engage have continued that tradition with the just-premiered "Save Me."
