Quentin Tarantino visited “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Thursday to hawk his new book “Cinema Speculation,” to name-drop Claudia Cardinale within the first 30 seconds, to repeat the goofy “Dinosaur Walk” song he sings to his toddler son, and, ultimately, defend himself over claims about his Academy Award-winning film “Django Unchained.”
His book, an essay about favorite movies, also serves as something of an autobiography. While jawing with Jimmy Kimmel, he dished that his mother, Connie Zastoupil, used to date a number of sports celebrities. He mentioned Happy Hairston as who never took Qt to the movies, the same as a much more famous athlete, Wilt Chamberlain. Though the 13x NBA All-Star was, shall we say, notable for scoring on and off the court, the “Pulp Fiction” director claimed that Chamberlain and Tarantino’s mom were together for a few years and, while they were never exclusive, she was, for a spell,...

Quentin Tarantino’s mom has taken the high road in response to her son’s vow that he would never give her a cent of money from his writing and filmmaking success, saying she wants to stay out of a back and forth feud in the media.
Tarantino’s mother Connie Zastoupil was reached by USA Today and asked to comment after Tarantino recently said he was forever hurt by his mom’s scolding that his writing career would be “f—ing over.”
“Regarding my son Quentin – I support him, I’m proud of him and love him and his growing new family,” she told USA Today on Friday. “It gave me great joy to dance at his wedding and receive his news upon the birth of my Grandson Leo.”

Connie Zastoupil, mother of Quentin Tarantino, issued a brief statement to USA Today reacting to this week’s viral revelation that Tarantino vowed not to give her “a penny” of his fortune after she berated him for writing screenplays in school. Tarantino appeared on a recent episode of Brian Koppelman’s “The Moment” podcast and told a story about how his teachers viewed his screenwriting in class as “a defiant act of rebellion.” When the school notified his mother, she sided with the school and yelled at her son. Tarantino made a vow not to give her any of his fortune should he become a famous screenwriter.
Here’s what Connie Zastoupil had to stay about the story: “Regarding my son Quentin – I support him, I’m proud of him and love him and his growing new family. It gave me great joy to dance at his wedding and receive...

Quentin Tarantino movies very rarely feature happy families. They barely contain any parental presence at all. One of the most memorable scenes in Pulp Fiction is a flashback. The boxer, Butch, played by Bruce Willis, remembers a pivotal moment from his childhood. The day he met a “special visitor,” named Capt. Koons (Christopher Walken), who interrupted the young boy’s cartoons to fulfill a final, personal mission. The captain had been imprisoned in the same Pow camp in Hanoi where Butch’s father died.
In one of cinema’s great monologues, and helped pave the way to Pulp Fiction grossing $213 million at the box office after it won the Palme d’Or at Cannes. Yet Tarantino did not buy his father a gold watch. And even if the director gets one when he retires after his next film, he probably won’t give that either to his mother Connie Zastoupil.
