Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall that blew everyone away at the latest awards season is a dazzling mix of drama and crime thriller, but it’s the movie’s cutest actor that is probably one of the biggest reasons for such an immense success.
A French Border Collie called Messi proved to be a real dog star after his stunning and very dramatical performance — and it seems like Messi’s career is about to skyrocket again.
In Anatomy of a Fall, Messi played Snoop, Sandra and Vincent’s dog that they got for their visually impaired son Daniel’s guidance. The dog actor was trained for his big poisoning scene in the movie for two months and eventually his performance didn't go unnoticed — Messi (or rather his owner) took home several awards, including Palm Dog Award from the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

I hope they serve biscuits and dog food at the Cannes Film Festival because Messi, the Border Collie from Justin Triet’s Academy Award-winning drama Anatomy of a Fall, is making his way to the annual celebration of film in France. D18 Paris says Messi is getting his own short program at Cannes, though it’s separate from the festival lineup. According to its description, the experience allows audiences to observe the fest “through the eyes and the voice of Messi.”
“This will be an opportunity for Messi to ask his guest any questions with the innocence of a dog,” says D18 Paris. “When you’re the current international star, you can do anything… and Messi dares to do it all!”
Referred to as the George Clooney of dogs, Messi is Hollywood’s good boy with better manners than most actors. Still, what is the Messi TV show? Messi: The...

Cannes is going to the dogs.
Messi, the breakout dog star of “Anatomy of a Fall,” is getting his own short program that will during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, producer D18 Paris announced. It will be set at the festival, but not part of the festival lineup. But hey, we say give him the the Palme d’Or too — though he’d probably settle for a Milk-Bone.
The program will allow viewers to experience the Cannes Film Festival from dawn until late night “through the eyes and the voice of Messi,” D18, which referred to the pooch as “the canine George Clooney,” said in a press release. In our book, that’s high praise for George Clooney.

There’s no word yet if the deal would include free-to-air matches from Apple, or if all games would be put behind a paywall.
FIFA, soccer’s international governing, is set to launch a new elite tournament in the summer of 2025, and Apple is reportedly close to locking down the rights to televise the event around the world. A report from The New York Times says that Apple and FIFA are close to a deal that would send global broadcast rights for the tournament to the tech giant, which already streams every Major League Soccer game of the season on its dedicated soccer streamer Mls Season Pass. This would be a significant addition to Apple TV+’s slate of programming, as interest in the tournament, which will mirror that of FIFA’s World Cup is expected to be high around the world.

While there are several actors and celebrities in Hollywood, Matt Damon stands apart from them, not only because of his incredible acting prowess but also because of his humble and generous nature. From donating and working for charities to just being a kind and humble being, the actor has garnered a huge fan following across the world.
Matt Damon (on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert)
Perhaps it was this that made him even more famous when he spent his time in the quiet village of Dalkey in Ireland during the Covid-19 pandemic. Yet, one of his Irish neighbors, who also happens to be one of the biggest rockstars in the world, was incredibly jealous of the attention Damon received while living there.

Lionel Messi is regarded by many as the undisputed Goat of soccer. The Argentine captain has won a record eight Ballon d’Or and cemented himself as one of the most successful athletes of all time. However, the World Cup winner has been subjected to criticism from a certain section of fans who could not accept that his favorite TV series is Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones, an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire started on a high note as one of the best TV series of all time. It amassed a massive fandom and was critically appreciated for a long time before it crashed hard in its concluding seasons. The crash landing had a detrimental impact on its popularity which is also evident in the latest reaction to Messi’s words.

Historically, some have always commanded others, and like frightened little wolves, we obeyed almost without protest. There was a time, not so long ago, that the internet gave us a sense of freedom, or at least the illusion of it. But that sensation has now turned hollow.
I was one of those who believed in this freedom, in understanding journalism and media as an exercise of liberty that, while not causing harm to anyone, offered a fresh and entertaining perspective. That’s how this magazine of ours was born. It’s been around for a while. We’ve been trying to garner some attention, and gradually started expanding into other languages using all the resources at our disposal.
And yes, along came artificial intelligence, bringing with it a major challenge: If I don’t use AI and everyone else does, it generates high-quality content (despite some refusing to accept) at a speed that engulfs us.

As a rule, we here at /Film try not to pit icons against each other. That said, "Anatomy of a Fall" breakout star Messi better watch his tail because he's not the only movie dog poised to win over hearts and minds at theaters these days.
By all accounts, "The Fall Guy" is an excellent and entertaining ode to stunt performers and blue-collar workers everywhere. But as much as the film is designed around the appeal of genuine movie stars like Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, may we never sleep on the novelty and appeal of a lovable dog character making an appearance in the middle of all the action, too. Look no further than the mainstream success of "John Wick," after all, although this time it's safe to say that animal lovers need not fear any grisly fates. That turns out to be a tool that director David Leitch...

Let me state right out that I am a sucker for dog movies. I still can’t get over My Dog Skip. I learned valuable lifelong lessons from Old Yeller. I consider Lassie a personal friend. I took selfies at the Oscar nominees luncheon with Messi, the French border collie I was pushing for Best Supporting Actor from Anatomy of a Fall. So yes, I am probably the right audience for the latest in the genre, Arthur the King, and its title star.
However, for about the first 55 minutes or so, Arthur the King is hardly about the dog at all, but rather the extreme physical competition of adventure racing, most particularly the 2018 World Championship taking place in the Dominican Republic. The focus is on frustrated competitor Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg), who never never won the big prize and is determined not to give up. This time he has put...

The 96th Academy Awards were a resounding success this year. Anatomy of a Fall was one of the films to be nominated for Best Picture. Even though it eventually lost to Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus, Oppenheimer, the French film left its mark.
The writers of the film, the French duo Justine Triet and Arthur Harrari, became the talk of the town during the awards season. Not only did they win big at the Oscars, but the grapevine suggests that Hollywood heavyweights are trying to do all they can to collaborate with Triet and Harrari.

This time last year, Katja Cahill was taking a break pre-Oscars to visit “Banshees of Inisherin” breakout Jenny the Miniature Donkey — and her date (!!) — in a livestock trailer outside the Dolby.
“That was the best part of my Oscars, just getting to go hang out in the donkey trailer,” Cahill told IndieWire. “And donkeys have support donkeys too, so there were two donkeys there.” A frequent Oscars contributor, the costume designer crafted a glittering gold vest she described as a “blinged-out service animal jacket” for Jenny to wear on stage.
At the 96th Academy Awards, the self-professed animal lover once again brought her artistry to an attendee of a different species. Cahill dressed “Anatomy of a Fall” scene-stealer Messi the dog — who played Snoop for director Justine Triet’s Best Picture nominee and Best Original Screenplay winner (co-written with Arthur Harari) — in an oversized bow tie.

Jimmy Kimmel recapped his favorite 2024 Oscars moments during his Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue on Monday, including John Cena’s nudity gag and Donald Trump’s angry tweet.
“We had John Cena onstage naked, and somehow Trump still managed to be the biggest dick of the night,” Kimmel told the crowd.
At the ceremony the night before, which Kimmel hosted for the fourth time, Cena took the stage seemingly nude, covering himself with a winner’s envelope to present the award for best costume design. The gag was a nod to streaker Robert Opel at the 1974 Academy Awards, Kimmel reiterated on Monday, saying he wanted to pay tribute to the incident on its 50th anniversary.
Kimmel also spoke on Monday about how difficult it was to convince the network to greenlight Cena’s joke, saying he kept being told the envelope held in front of Cena’s body needed to be bigger.

Jimmy Kimmel returned to his day job Monday to give folks a fun postmortem of the Oscars — especially the part where John Cena hid his private parts while giving away the award for Best Costume.
After a quick fake-out by Justin Timberlake — who first took the stage of ABC’s late night show to say that he was filling in for the night– Kimmel emerged and immediately started listing his favorite moments from Sunday’s Academy Awards. (Timberlake is the night’s musical guest).
He was tickled by the way Arnold Schwarzenegger said the word Godzilla and he enjoyed the “I’m Just Ken” performance by Ryan Gosling, but the real highlight was when tribute was paid to the 50th Anniversary of the Oscars streaker back in 1974.

One of the greatest nights in entertainment is when the Oscars arrive to reward all the great movies of the year. In the Oscars 2024 edition of the very prestigious awards, John Cena presented the Costume Design Awards totally naked. This was one of the highlights of the night; the protagonist of Peacemaker had a very bizarre and funny moment.
The creator of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, has posted on X how he has received many messages asking for a skin of Peacemaker that looks like his appearance in the Oscars. This could be a very weird but possible variation to add to Mortal Kombat 1.

After Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall powered its way to five Oscar nominations, it was a common feeling that the film’s Mvp was short-changed on the big night. Though the film went home with Best Original Screenplay, Messi — the seven-year-old border collie who plays Snoop, the family dog who becomes an integral part of the courtroom drama — was not so lucky, returning empty-pawed to his native Paris. Not that he was an ungracious loser; a clip of the hound applauding Robert Downey Jr.’s win for Oppenheimer went viral, not least because it brought a huge spontaneous smile to the face of Barbie’s Ryan Gosling.
Being modest, Messi downplayed the fact that earlier in the day he had stolen the show at the Fido Awards in London, an awards ceremony that recognizes the work put in by canine thespians from around the world. From the same...

On top of entertaining the guests to the best of his capabilities, it is safe to say that this year’s ceremony was certainly one of the most hilarious of them all. The 2024 Oscars were one to remember, bringing the audience to tears at some moments and laughter at others. From Ryan Gosling reuniting with the Kens from Barbie to John Cena going nearly nude onstage and Al Pacino skipping announcing the best picture nominees, here are some of Sunday night’s most memorable moments.
Ryan Gosling Reunited With Other Kens for Barbie Performance
Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson took the stage to perform their Barbie hit “I’m Just Ken.” Gosling kicked off the performance from his seat in the audience behind co-star Margot Robbie, decked out in a hot pink, bedazzled custom Gucci suit, matching leather gloves and Gucci sunglasses. Gosling was joined by Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa and more of the Kens from the Barbie film, who took the stage alongside their onscreen leader, donning suits with tails and top hats. Slash also made a special appearance during the performance.

And finally, Robert Downey Jr takes home much much-deserved Academy Award. For his performance in Christopher Nolans’s Oppenheimer where he played the key role of Lewis Strauss. The Iron Man actor was earlier nominated twice in the same category but could not convert them to a win, but his time his brilliant performance beat some really strong contenders including Robert De Niro for Killers of the Flower Moon, Ryan Gosling for Barbie and Mark Ruffalo for Poor Things to win the coveted award.

After having a career with so many great movies and in particular his run at the MCU, he not having won an Academy Award was no less than a mystery for the movie buff.

The Oscars served drama from the moment the telecast began … which was five minutes late, due to pro-Palestine protesters blocking roads and delaying some of the biggest stars’ arrivals at the Dolby Theater.
Host Jimmy Kimmel opened the night with a monologue that included jokes about Robert Downey Jr’s drug use, the disaster that is Marvel’s Madame Web, and Killers of the Flower Moon’s three-and-a-half hour runtime. Messi, the seriously impressive canine actor from Anatomy of a Fall, made a cameo.

Matt Damon didn’t even attend the 2024 Academy Awards on Sunday (March 10), but the show’s host Jimmy Kimmel made sure to prank him anyway.
If you were unaware, the Hollywood stars are longtime friends who have been engaged in a prank war over the years. At the very end of the ceremony, Jimmy recruited Messi, the dog who stars in Anatomy of a Fall, to get one over on the absent actor.

In a clip that is going viral on X (formerly Twitter), a camera catches Messi appearing to pee on Matt‘s Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The dog lifts his left before running off camera.

Jimmy Kimmel did a fantastic job with the 2024 Oscars opening monologue, touching briefly on politics but mostly focusing the jokes around this year’s nominees. Kimmel called out Greta Gerwig’s Oscar snub, this year’s Oppenheimer nomination being a new “high” in Robert Downey Jr’s career, and compared Emma Stone playing an adult woman with the brain of a child to the woman who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union address. Kimmel’s monologue ended with a standing ovation as he brought Teamsters & IATSE members onto the stage, thanking them for standing with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA during last year’s strikes.

Messi the Dog, the Anatomy of a Fall star and awards season darling, did, in fact, make an appearance at the 2024 Oscars on Sunday.
A source had previously told The Hollywood Reporter that Messi would not be appearing at the Academy Awards after his Los Angeles press tour that saw him attend the Oscars nominees luncheon and partake in a press junket.
The dog’s surprise appearance during the 2024 Oscars took place within the first few minutes of the telecast, as returning host Jimmy Kimmel kicked off his opening monologue by praising the “great” films that were made in 2023, despite the dual actors and writers strikes that shut down Hollywood.
While poking fun at the best picture nominees including Barbie, Oppenheimer, Maestro and more, Kimmel stopped at Robert Downey Jr. and joked about how he played a villain in The Shaggy Dog, which starred Tim Allen. He noted if they were to remake the film,...

The Academy Awards can be described in a variety of ways. From gripping dramas to hilarious comedies, Hollywood’s talents never fail to impress. And of course, it was unavoidable that Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the night, would open the 2024 ceremony without making light of a few Hollywood stars.

The Oscars have officially begun! And everybody’s favorite Anatomy of a Fall has won the title of Best Original Screenplay, making Messi proud! To receive the award, the duo of very talented writers Justine Triet and her writing partner, Arthur Harari, marched down the aisle and delivered a speech that is oddly inspiring to many. This makes Anatomy of a Fall the first non-English language film to win in this category since Parasite in 2019.

It's Jimmy Kimmel's fourth time hosting the Oscars, and not everyone was thrilled about it when he was first announced. He's considered a safe, dependable host -- one who tells plenty of jokes but who never ruffles too many feathers or does anything too unpredictable.
This time around, Kimmel began his opening monologue by acknowledging the event's five minute delay (seemingly the result of protestors delaying the entrance of audience members into the building) and then continued on with a speech that was business as usual. If you liked Kimmel's previous hosting gigs, there's a lot to love here. If you didn't, well, maybe next year there'll be a different host.
If you missed it, here's a quick rundown of how it all went. Some of Kimmel's material felt fresh and funny, some of it was tired or in bad taste, and some of it was just sort of confusing.

Justine Triet and Arthur Harari recalled how very different their lives were a few years ago, stuck at home in the midst of Covid, when they first started to write.
“This is a crazy year, in contrast with what it started out as, before. Stuck in the house with two kids. It was lockdown, and we hooked them up to cartoons to have peace. And there was no line, I think, between work and diapers,” said an emotional Triet.

Hollywood’s cutest star made it to the 2024 Oscars after all. Messi, the adorable Border Collie who played Snoop in Anatomy of a Fall, was one of the stars sitting inside the Dolby Theatre during the Oscars ceremony on March 10. This marked the precious pup’s first Oscars ceremony. During Jimmy Kimmel’s Oscars monologue, the host gave Messi a shoutout. The camera panned to Messi, who was sitting quietly in the audience. “Not even 20 years ago, things weren’t going that great for Robert [Downey Jr.],” Kimmel began. “He played the villain in, correct me if I have this wrong, a movie where Tim Allen turns into a dog, right? And if you ever decide to remake that film, I have just the guy to play Tim Allen. That is, where is he, Messi, who even though he’s a dog, may have given the performance of the year in Anatomy of a Fall.

The Academy Award-winning French courtroom thriller "Anatomy of a Fall" is one seriously chilly movie. It's visually quite cold, taking place in winter in the mountains, and its characters are equally icy. Not even a cover of 50 Cent's "P.I.M.P" played on the typically breezy steel drums can warm it up, but there's one magical element in the movie that manages to make things feel a bit less freezing: the dog Snoop, played by Messi the border collie. Messi is the Mvp of "Anatomy of a Fall," and that's really saying something considering the film's powerhouse performances from Sandra Hüller, Milo Machado Graner, and Swann Arlaud (Hüller is nominated for Best Actress for her role). Messi won the Palm Dog this past year, which is like the Palm d'Or but for dog performers at Cannes, but he doesn't stand a chance of winning any Oscars at the Academy Awards.

Crank up that steel drum cover of 50 Cent’s “P.I.M.P”! “Anatomy of a Fall” has scored the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Director Justine Triet and her husband and co-writer Arthur Harari took the stage at the Dolby Theater on March 10 to accept the trophy.
In winning the award, Triet and Harari beat out several other Best Picture nominees to claim the top prize. Also nominated in the category were David Hemingson for “The Holdovers,” Bradley Cooper and Josh Singer for “Maestro,” and Celine Song for “Past Lives.” The sole non-Best Picture nominee recognized in the category was “May December,” which received its sole Oscar nomination for Samy Burch’s script.
The Original Screenplay Oscar is the latest award that Triet’s courtroom drama received during the past Awards season. Triet and Harari won in the same category at the British Academy Film Awards, the Golden Globes, and the French César Awards.

The Oscars are done for another year and Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy are newly minted Oscar winners for Oppenheimer! Overall, it was an expected and welcome result, with Oppenheimer also taking home Best Picture, while Poor Things star Emma Stone won a second Oscar, in a surprising, but well-earned result. Overall, it was the icing on the cake of a refreshingly entertaining edition of the Oscars – one of the best in years.

Jimmy Kimmel left his usual late-night beefs off the Oscar stage tonight, ignoring Trump, Santos, Aaron Rodgers to focus entirely on Hollywood’s big night, with only one not-so-veiled political jab included in a mostly gentle opening segment.

Kimmel gave it one last shot. “Okay, maybe this one you’ll like: If you...
