Sean Wang’s new film was the talk of the town at Sundance this year and the film is heading into UK cinemas in August. Watch the Dìdi trailer here.
First-time director took Park City by storm in January with his debut film Dìdi. The heartfelt coming-of-age story received rave reviews from critics and went on to win the U.S Dramatic Audience Awards at the festival. The film also earned the Jury Prize for best U.S Dramatic Ensemble.
Dìdi is gearing up to be released in the US in July, but us UK folk will have to wait a little longer for Dìdi as the film arrives on our screens in August. Thankfully though, there’s a new trailer for the film, which will get us through the next few months of waiting.
Take a look at the Dìdi trailer below.

The films in contention for the 2024 Best Original Screenplay Oscar are “Anatomy of a Fall,” “The Holdovers,” “Maestro,” “May December,” and “Past Lives.” Our odds currently indicate that “Anatomy of a Fall” (16/5) will take the prize, followed in order of likelihood by “The Holdovers” (37/10), “Past Lives” (9/2), “Maestro” (9/2), and “May December” (9/2).
Of the eight individual writers behind these five films, only Josh Singer (“Maestro”) has earned recognition in this category before. Indeed, he is looking to go two-for-two here after succeeding on his 2016 bid for “Spotlight,” which he co-wrote with its director, Tom McCarthy. Coincidentally, he shares his new nomination with the director of “Maestro,” Bradley Cooper, who also has a personal stake in the Best Picture and Best Actor races as a producer and star of the same film.
With this original writing notice, Cooper’s Oscars resume now includes five different categories, the remaining two of which are Best...

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew’s latest television show, Collision, which brings wrestling back to Saturday nights! We’ve got the commentary team of Nigel McGuinness, Kevin Kelly and Tony Schiavone calling the action, so let’s get into the review!
Match #1: No Dq Match – Powerhouse Hobbs def. Sammy Guevara The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Sammy came out of the gates strong, hitting Hobbs with a cutter and then a lariat over the top rope. Sammy used the steel ring steps as a launch pad, however, Hobbs caught Sammy and planted Sammy with the World’s Strongest Slam onto the ring steps. Hobbs smashed Sammy onto the ring apron over and over again, manhandling Sammy with ease. Hobbs ordered Kevin Kelly to stand up and give him his belt. Hobbs whipped Sammy with the leather belt. Sammy moved out of the way and connected...

This article contains spoilers for "Barbie."
What if I told you that Greta Gerwig's 2023 summer blockbuster "Barbie" wasn't the first movie that explored the complex feminist issues with Mattel's world-famous doll?
"May December" director Todd Haynes started as an experimental filmmaker who made waves in the underground cinema scene back in the '80s with his stop-motion music doc, "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story." Haynes' film might not have been as record-breakingly successful as Gerwig's was, but it helped jumpstart what became an incredibly successful career for the director. "Barbie" was the first corporate-sanctioned film that explored the doll's complicated relationship with women and their bodies, but Haynes technically did it first back in '87. Mattel and Warner Brothers executives were even concerned that Gerwig might get a little too inspired by Haynes' dark take on the toy.

Greta Gerwig could be in line for a hattrick of Oscar nominations this year for Picture, Director, and Original Screenplay for her marvelous work on Warner Bros.’s “Barbie.” The multi-hyphenate co-wrote the movie with her partner, Noah Baumbach, while she brought to life the world of Barbie as a visionary helmer of one of the biggest films of the year. She has reaped three Oscar bids to date for two of her previous pictures. Let’s take a closer look at those races.
Her first bids came in 2018 for “Lady Bird,” which tells the story of a 17-year-old girl who comes of age in Sacramento, California, in 2002. Saoirse Ronan stars in the lead role while Timothée Chalamet, Lucas Hedges, and Laurie Metcalf also featured. “Lady Bird” was a critical darling, which meant that Gerwig enjoyed a good time at the Critics Choice Awards, securing nominations for both Original Screenplay and Director.

A mesmerizing new documentary uses archival recordings to give an intimate portrait of a first lady who acted as a shadow politician in the 60s
Lady Bird, as Claudia Alta Taylor Johnson was better known, is a nickname that conjures the frivolous and fanciful, but the fiftysomething woman from east Texas who emerges in Dawn Porter’s elegant documentary The Lady Bird Diaries was a paragon of substance. She was also a documentarian in her own right, chronicling her time in the White House over 123 hours of audio recordings that were released after her death in 2007.
Apart from the footage of wildflowers that Porter shot on the Johnson family ranch in Texas, the film entirely relies on archival audio and video recordings from the time of Lyndon B Johnson’s presidency, from the 1963 assassination of John F Kennedy to 1969. Building on an ABC News podcast, Porter’s work is a...

Fans of Albert Brooks will not want to miss an insightful documentary in which he’s interviewed by his best friend, Rob Reiner, about the seminal moment of his life.
For documentary fans, we also highly recommend The Lady Bird Diaries, which sheds light on the life in office of the former first lady of the United States, and JFK: What the Doctors Saw.
Big things are coming this week, including Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which literally finds fabled giants in the realm of Godzilla coming to the small screen with an exciting new branch of the film series.
And if space sci-fi is your thing, Beacon 23 begins on Epix. See what else we recommend below!
