American animated series Young Justice is considered one of the best superhero series ever made. Contrary to its title which suggests that it is an adaptation of Peter David, Todd Dezago, and Todd Nauck’s comic series, the TV series is an original story, set in the DC Universe. It primarily explores the adventures of teenage and young adult superheroes.

Young Justice has easily become one of the most beloved animated superhero series in recent times. The series has an excellent lineup of characters, all of which feel well-thought-out and have extremely interesting stories. It picked whatever aspects of a character’s back story they wanted, choosing from the several versions and sticking with them. If they were unable to find the correct pieces, they made changes, creating the intricate puzzle that is the series.
Young Justice
The perfect example of a significant change they made to an original story is Martian Manhunter and Mars as a planet. Going from a destroyed planet to a lively civilization on the brink of civil war, the change brought about a lot of interesting elements to the story.

Marvel’s X-Men ’97 animated superhero series is the talk of the town these days. Another animated series named Young Justice once attracted a fair amount of attention. Developed by Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman, the show’s first two seasons were aired on Cartoon Network. While the third season was aired on DC Universe, the fourth was released on HBO Max.
DC’s Young Justice
Being an animated show did not deter Vietti and Weisman from exploring realistic topics. One of the DC heroes in the series even became a symbol of mental health and the showrunners once revealed how it turned out that way.

There are very few animated shows that have gained a cult following to the level of DC’s Young Justice and it is not hard to see why, considering just how influential the four seasons of the show have been, despite being canceled a couple of times.

Young Justice is an animated series that chronicles the adventures of teenage superheroes and sidekicks from DC Comics. Despite its popularity and innovative storytelling, the show was unexpectedly canceled after its first two seasons.
Young Justice Season 4
The reason behind the cancellation was rather unusual. It had nothing to do with the show’s quality or viewership. Instead, toy makers Mattel decided to cancel the series because they didn’t view it as a profitable option for generating revenue. With that said, the show went on for two more seasons and it appears HBO Max played a huge role in it surviving a major change in season 4.

Young Justice is easily regarded as one of those animated series from DC that fans just can’t get enough of. Encircling the life of several teenage protege superheroes, it delivered the ultimate justice through its perfect portrayal of the young characters. But out of all the teenagers, there was one whose storyline was helmed with utter care.
Young Justice.
This character was none other than the young superhero who was a result of a Human-Motherbox fusion: Halo, aka Violet Harper. In fact, the creators of the animated show wanted to ensure such utter carefulness while delving into Harper’s storyline that they even went so far as to take help from the Muslim Public Affairs Council for the same!

Arguably, the most famous fictional planet is Krypton -- the home of Kal-El, aka Clark Kent, aka Superman. We all know the story (though studios seem to think we don't) of how Krypton was destroyed, and how the sole (kind of) survivor was baby Kal-El. But while Krypton gets all the attention, it's not the only desolated former metropolis in the DC Universe.
Another essential part of the DC mythos is Mars, our red neighbor. In most of the DC continuity, Mars is mostly devoid of life, with all civilizations having been wiped out through war or a plague, leaving only J'onn J'onzz, aka the Martian Manhunter, alive and stranded on Earth. That is not the case with the acclaimed "Young Justice" animated series, which portrays Mars as having a big, advanced, and very active Martian civilization.

Batman: Death in the Family really is something different, in more ways than one. I was pleased to see Warner Bros Animation doing something new and fresh with Batman releases, giving us an interactive movie based on the famous 1988 Batman story-arc, A Death in the Family. You, as the viewer, are in the driver’s seat this time, afforded the opportunity to control the future and paths of the characters on screen.
I’ve dabbled with interactive movies in the past, such as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, and it’s been a mixed bag but always intriguing and fun to experience in some manner or another. I was excited for this, because after all, this is Batman, this is a world we know and love and are super familiar with,...

It’s somehow almost 2021, which means the DC Universe is about to enter its Future State, the big two month crossover that kicks off the new year by pausing its regular line, and diving deep into the wild, varied timelines and parallel universes for new angles from fresh creators. And we are happy to have your exclusive first look at the February covers and solicitations for the Justice League family of books.
Since half the fun of solicits is trying to piece together what’s happening in the book from the 50 words and a cover, we decided to engage in some wild, semi-informed speculation on what might be coming from DC’s event.
Let’s get right to it: Future State has a very strong Seven Soldiers of Victory vibe.
The original Seven Soldiers were briefly a superteam from the ’40s, brought back sporadically whenever a comic needed a nostalgia boost,...

The beauty of telling stories in a multiverse is the infinite possibility offered by the infinite places and infinite times to set those stories in. DC’s embrace of their multiverse has historically been one of its strongest features, but Crisis on Infinite Earths muted that ability for decades after, and only recently have comics creators started to enthusiastically dive into the concept again. And with Dark Nights: Death Metal wailing towards its conclusion, it looks like DC is set to go head first into the Bleed again.
Future State is the next big DC Comics event. Following the conclusion of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s explosive reintroduction of the infinite multiverse-slash-musing on what might happen if we let evil get a couple of high profile wins in (gee no real world analogue to that story at all no sir), the entire DC line will be taking a pause for two months,...

900 numbers for polling purposes, charging users for each call placed, was a 1980s fad that seemed perfect to employ in comic books for some sort of stunt. Editor Denny O’Neil and DC’s Marketing team, led by Bruce Bristow, conceived of the stunt and Jim Starlin wrote the four-part “Death in the Family” storyline to accommodate the stunt. Jason Todd, the second Robin, never was accepted by fans, either under his father, writer Gerry Conway or the post-Crisis writers Max Allan Collins and Jim Starlin. Callers got to say he would live or die.
It went on to become a media sensation, and a closer than expected vote. It also brought down the wrath of Warner Bros who was unaware of the event and the press attention because, back then, DC was a pimple on the conglomerate’s butt and no one considered telling them.

“A Death in the Family” is probably one of the most well known Batman stories of all time. It’s been a cornerstone of Batman’s psychology since it happened, weighing him down with so much guilt over Jason Todd’s death at the hands of the Joker that it changed Batman’s character in every medium for a generation – you see hints of Jason’s fate 20 years later in Batman v Superman, even.
But as much as the fact of Jason’s death impacted Batman stories for decades, so too did its manner: “A Death in the Family” will always be remembered as the comic that gave fans a say in Jason Todd’s ultimate fate. They chose to murder a Robin. And in the latest DC Animated feature, you too will be able to choose to murder a Robin.

Batman: A Death in the Family is one of the most consequential Batman comic book arcs ever published, showing the second Robin, Jason Todd, having a famously nasty encounter with a crowbar-wielding Joker.
The guilt that the Dark Knight felt went on to heavily inform his character across all media, with the events of the comic being obliquely referenced in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the backstory of the Arkham Knight video game. A Death in the Family also became the origin of the Red Hood, who’s now a firm fixture in the Batman mythos and got his own animated feature in 2010’s Batman: Under the Red Hood.
That 1988 arc will soon be retold by DC Animation via Batman: Death in the Family, which appears to rework and update the original story. Key differences are that the Jason Todd we see in this clip is older than...

Young Justice has two overlapping, somewhat rabid, fan followings. First, there are those who delighted in Peter David’s energetic take on the young adult team, which led to the animated series on Cartoon Network.
In the hands of former DC assistant editor Greg Weisman, Young Justice developed a very unique voice of its own, carving an animated continuity all to itself, enjoying two seasons on cable before vanishing. Weisman, Brandon Vietti, and their team were rehired by DC Universe to produce a 26-episode third season, dubbed Young Justice: Outsiders, which aired in two sections throughout 2019.
The entire season is now a four-disc Blu-ray set from Warner Archive so if you don’t want to spend for the service, you can see what you’ve missed. We pick up some two years after season two and Meta-human trafficking is rampant, with the people turned into WMDs. Meanwhile, the Un in...

Three episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
If any DC animated series has a storied existence, it’s most definitely that of Young Justice. For two seasons, it captured the hearts and minds of viewers with great characterization, intriguing covert operations, and its willingness to put adolescent superheroes in mature storylines. In other words, it was far from a Teen Titans rehash.
Then Cartoon Network cancelled it.
To this day, the specifics remain a hot topic for discussion, but the plug being pulled was largely due to a lack of toy sales, something valued higher than Nielsen ratings for this type of programming. The catch-22, however, was that there wasn’t much merchandising supporting the brand to begin with, so one could say it was inescapably doomed in that respect.
Thankfully, the DC Universe streaming service has picked up the ball and run with it years later, as Young Justice:...

We talked to the team behind Young Justice Season 3 about the long wait, what's next, and what they love about the DC Universe show.
International law and its applications on human trafficking aren’t really the kinds of things you’d expect an animated superhero show to tackle, but the Young Justice team left the story pointing in that direction when the show was canceled in 2013, and when they got picked back up three years later and started writing for Young Justice season 3, they didn’t want to miss a beat. Plus, said producer Greg Weisman, “...we don’t have Cartoon Network standards & practices to worry about this season.”
It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly six years since the last episode of Young Justice aired on Cartoon Network. That’s ten iPhones ago. But enabled by the streaming revolution and DC’s all-media streaming service,...

Legions of Gotham had the exclusive world premiere look at the style guide sheets that were used in the production for the cartoon The Batman. These were given to the artists and animators on the series as a reference tool. We premiered these back in 2008.
The guide centers largely around Jeff Matsuda's desire to give Batman's cape a very specific life in the cartoon. The Batman style guides detail exactly how Batman's cape should be draw and draped in various scenarios.
"I've said it before and I'll say it again - your site is amazing! I check out your forums every chance I get to read what fans think of our shows. You're doing a hell of a job for the Batman fans!"- Brandon Vietti, Director: The Batman, Under the Red Hood and Writer on Young Justice...
