I’ve said it many times before and I’ve no doubt I’ll say it many times again, but Canadians know how to make damn good horror flicks and guess what? They also know how to do great retro-grindhouse flicks too! Yes Discopath, the tale of a man turned to murder by the beat, is another fantastic genre flick from the land that brought us He Knows You’re Alone, My Bloody Valentine and the more recent Antisocial.
Writer/director Renaud Gauthier made his name as a music video director, so it should come as no surprise that music features heavily in his first feature film, Discopath, an epic tale of trauma and turntables:

Our Canadian friends will be able to see Discopath (review here) on DVD and digital/cable VOD beginning next week, and today we have a look at the first four minutes of the film along with its new artwork and a few stills.

One of the darlings of last year's Fantasia Film Festival was the wonderfully titled slasher film Discopath (review), and if you're up in the Great White North you'll be bringing this loony home soon!
The Canadian home video rights for the bloody slasher were awarded to Black Fawn Distribution, who will release the DVD in Canada on June 10th. Juice Distribution will be the ones who release the film through iTunes on April 29th.

Mayhem Film Festival returns to Broadway on 31st October for four days of horror-tinged screenings, previews and guests. The festival opens this year with internationally-acclaimed British director Nicolas Roeg who will be presenting his most recent film Puffball as well as taking part in a very special screening of his masterpiece Don’t Look Now in the eerie settings of St Mary’s Church in the Lace Market.
Other special guests for the festival include American Director Brian Netto who will be presenting Delivery, The Borderlands Director Elliot Goldner and Producer Jennifer Handorf, and director Caradog James and Producer John Giwa-Amu for hi-tech British dark sci-fi The Machine.
