Roku is continuing its lineup of Spanish-language originals with five new series from creators such as Juanpa Zurita and Jaime Camil. But that’s not all. The streaming player-turned-content hub also announced the premiere date for Season 3 of “Un Millón de Gracias” from Jennifer Lopez. Previously titled “Thanks a Million,” this year will mark the series’ first Spanish-language season as a new batch of celebrities give back to the people who have influenced them the most.
Each episode of “Un Millón de Gracias” follows a different celebrity who has been asked to give away $100,000 to someone who has inspired them by being a hero in their community. But once that person has been gifted $100,000, they will have to give away half of it to someone who has inspired them. This season’s celebrities will include Chiquis, Gina Torres, Jaime Camil, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Lauren Jauregui, Michael Peña, Michelle Rodriguez, Pau Gasol,...

It won’t take long for 2021 to get a bonkers new television series thanks to the debut of “History of Swear Words” on Netflix at the start of the new year. The six-episode series hosted by Nicolas Cage tells the origin stories of some of the most widely used curse words around the world, from “fuck” and “shit” to “bitch,” “dick,” “pussy,” and “damn.” Produced by Funny or Die, “History of Swear Words” looks like a riff on Comedy Central’s dearly departed “Drunk History” with an added dose of Cage insanity.
The official “History of Swear Words” synopsis from Netflix reads as follows: “An education in expletives: the history lesson you didn’t know you needed. ‘History of Swear Words,’ hosted by Nicolas Cage, is a loud and proudly profane series that explores the origins, pop culture-usage, science, and cultural impact of curse words.”

Exclusive: The X Factor and Got Talent producer Thames is set to remake Facebook Watch’s interactive game-show Confetti in the UK as the social media platform adapts the show in five markets around the world.
Fremantle has struck a deal with Facebook for a UK adaptation and local versions produced in India, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
It is the first Facebook Watch origination to be remade outside of the U.S. I gather that the UK version will launch later this month, while the other four versions are all set to go live by the end of the year.
Confetti, which is regularly hosted by YouTube personality J.D. Witherspoon, is a HQ Trivia-style live interactive format that sees viewers compete in a traditional daily trivia quiz show with cash prizes. It streams live on weekdays. Confetti launched in July 2018 in the U.S. and recently expanded into Canada and Mexico.

Former “Today” show anchor Ann Curry will anchor and executive produce the upcoming TNT and Lionsgate series “M.D. Live.”
Last week, the Turner network ordered 10 episodes of “M.D. Live,” a two-hour weekly series will see patients battling various ailments consulting a recurring panel of doctors, who will discuss potential diagnoses before asking the live audience for additional feedback, solutions and support.
“Real good could come of this. We aim to help break down the walls that still stop people from accessing the medical information they need. Harnessing the full power of both television and technology to connect people interactively with doctors all over the world is a step toward a future when we are not limited by where we live or whether we can find the right doctor,” said Curry. “This is a new way of doing things, a new genre of broadcasting and a chance to help people.
