"I can't be a part of this!" "You already are." Dark Star Pictures has revealed an official trailer for an indie revenge horror thriller called Abigail, not to be confused with the other horror revenge thriller Becky and its sequel this year The Wrath of Becky. Similar ideas but not really the same... Set in 1976, a troubled teen befriends her bullied neighbor, seeking revenge on his tormentors, but her obsession turns deadly. Abigail takes a liking to the lonely boy next door and helps him fight back. As she takes him under her wing, the secrets of her past begin to surface. Starring Ava Cantrell, Tren Reed-Brown, Hermione Lynch, Gene Farber, and Karimah Westbrook. So is the twist in this that she is some kind of badass serial killer or something? A strange film, the footage does not look good. Makes sense they're dumping it on VOD this fall. // Continue...

Dark Star Pictures has nabbed the North American rights to the teen horror flick Abigail from director Melissa Vitello and starring Ava Cantrell.
A theatrical release in select theaters is planned for Dec. 2023, followed by transactional home entertainment sales. “Abigail is a wild descent into the teen psyche. The film brings important topics like bullying, racism, mental health and gender stereotypes to the forefront while staying true to the core horror genre, giving audiences a thoughtful experience painted in bloody throwback fun,” Dark Star president Michael Repsch said in a statement.
Abigail is set in 1976 where Abigail Cole, a troubled teen played by Cantrell, and her mother move to a small Alabama town in hopes of escaping the girl’s violent past. She befriends the boy next door, Lucas, who is mercilessly bullied by a group of kids at school.

After the laughable return of "tough" Renee last week, parts of this week's episode felt very serious. But no worries, there are still plenty of moments to be mocked. First up is Renee. So, I get that she's supposed to be all bad-ass (in a 13 year old, black clothes wearing, listening to Avril I-have-no-clue-what-punk-rock-is Lavigne, kind of way). Honestly, Renee looks like she's about to burst into tears at any moment, having just discovered menstrual blood in her underwear for the first time. The only Russian she might be able to win a staring contest against is a Russian waiter at Epcot. Let's remember what Renee was like in Season 7, all by the book and buttoned-up priss-ery. And let's also remember that Renee's time undercover with the Russian mob would have been before Season 7 occurred. Knowing last season's Renee, I'm having a really difficult time believing she was previously hanging...

Tonight Fox launches Ronald D. Moore’s Virtuality, a two hour movie that was originally meant to be the pilot for a new series. While Moore’s last series – the much beloved Battlestar Galactica – also got off to a rocky start, the future doesn’t look as bright for Virtuality which isn’t likely to go to series unless ratings for tonight's movie turn out to be unexpectedly strong.
For gay fans that’s especially unfortunate as the show is the first U.S. science fiction television program to include regularly occurring gay characters as part of the main cast. Tomorrow night, viewers will see something extraordinary on American television: leading gay characters in a science fiction program – on a broadcast network no less.
Problem is, the rest of the pretentious, slow-moving mess of a show is about as far from extraordinary as you can get.
Fox is billing Virtuality as a “two-hour original science-fiction thriller.” But it was originally intended to be the pilot for a series that the network was once highly touting. After all, it was created by Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore and Michael Taylor, who also wrote this pilot movie.
Somewhere between Fox’s initial enthusiasm and the execution of the idea, something went very wrong. Fox made the right call in letting this one die.

Fox has announced that it will broadcast the two-hour sci-fi pilot for Virtuality, co-created by Battlestar Galactica majordomo Ronald D. Moore, in its June 26 Friday timeslot...the scheduling bone yard where projects have been essentially sent to die for...oh, the past five decades or so now.
The move fortifies previous reports that the Vancouver-filmed pilot will not net a series after all. It was not mentioned during Fox's 2009-2010 schedule upfronts last month.
Of course, if the pilot does astounding numbers, then everything we've said above will go out the window faster than a kitty at a canine convention—but we're not holding our breath. They would have to be pretty astounding.

On July 4th, Fox will air BattleStar creators Michael Taylor and Ronald D. Moore’s new Sci-Fi series hopeful “Virtuality”. “Virtuality” is about life aboard the Phaeton, mankind’s first starship. Shipboard existence on the Phaeton is apparently pretty realistic. A bunch of people, locked together in a tiny ship on a 10 year journey. To prevent the crew from going Space Crazy like Ren and Stimpy, the crew uses virtual reality to get away from the claustrophobia and burning desire to jam a space widget into the nearest crewman’s back. All is well until something malevalent infects the program controlling those virtual visions of campfires on the beach or ski bunnies in Whistler. Trapped in a tiny tin can, elbow to elbow with smelly spacemen and spacewomen with your only escape an evil horrorshow? Sounds terrific! Like I said, Fox has got the 2 hour extravaganza on July 4th at 8:00 Est.

Fox apparently isn't happy with how its proposed science-fiction series "Virtuality" is turning out, and it could face either death or a complete reworking. The series from "Battlestar Galactica's" Ronald D. Moore set on a long-range starship isn't turning too many heads at the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and is looking to either air the backdoor pilot Moore recently filmed in May, or hold the series long enough to allow some retooling to make it more "mainstream." But what does that mean? io9 writer Charlie Jane Anders speculates that could mean the removal of the show's gay married couple, played by Jose Pablo Cantillo and Gene Farber. "Apart from that, what do you do?" Anders asked. "The current fad seems to be for shows that appear to be realistic dramas at ...
