Jeff Kasper's foray into the film industry began as a student at the
University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Living within walking distance
to many of the locations used on Untamed Heart (1993) his new found
interest in the film industry led him to signing up to be a bleacher
extra in the Minnesota based baseball movie Little Big League (1994).
There he spent a 12 hour day observing the behind the scenes action of
Hollywood filmmaking and witnessed the talents of actors that he had
grown up watching in other movies. From that day on, his view of movies
and the filmmaking process changed dramatically from a source of
entertainment into a regimen of study and learning about how films were
made. He continued to pursue a degree in business at the U of M, but
gradually changed the focus of his interest to the film industry. He
moved to Bozeman Montana area to work at a ski resort but instead
enrolled in classes at Montana State University in Bozeman- eventually
finding his way to the film program. His time there wouldn't last long,
during a summer trip back to Fargo, he was introduced to the film
studies program at Minnesota State University in Moorhead where he
enrolled full-time and completed his degree in 2003. In 2004 he got
involved with the Fargo Film Festival- an annual festival that in March
of 2014 will celebrate it's 14th event. Serving on various jury
committees he has screened over 200 movies that have been submitted for
competition. Also during this time he honed his skills in
post-production, and once again found himself enrolled at MSUM in the
graphics communication program. This led to his first job in
television. He got a job as camera operator on a televised traveling
poker tour and when a spot opened on their post-production team, he
applied and was hired. After over 4 years in televised poker, he is
self-employed as a freelancer in video production. As of 2013, he
resides in Fargo, ND.
